@@TheReviewStudios if ever there was a 90s cartoon that was awesome but cancelled before its prime, it was that show. The premise of the show was that an exiled prince sailed with his crew in search of curing their world of the "dark water" an oily and dangerous substance covering their planet's seas. Alongside him was the exotically beautiful Tula, who was like a more beautiful version of Princess Jasmine, the antiheroic Ioz who would be like an older version of Jason Momoa, and their mischevious Monkey-bird Niddler. There were not many episodes made, which is a shame, because it has such great potential.

I think the thing you have to remember with the MC Hammer cartoon, you have to appreciate the 24 month rocket ship to stardom that was his career. It was almost entirely based on one hit, but “you can’t touch this” was SO ubiquitous and he was a cultural phenomenon to himself, being the first rap artist to have a hit go to #1. It didn’t last long, but there was a brief period where he was at the Michael Jackson/Madonna level of stardom, almost entirely on charisma. The backlash to his constant commercialization and ubiquity started about right at the time the cartoon went out, but it wasn’t the worst idea for a show in 1991 (I think it replaced a New Kids on the Block cartoon from the year prior)

I remember James Bond Jr. Looking back on it now, it had the right formula in a lot of aspects. I think making him the nephew instead of a son made sense, you sorta forget how much of a womanizer Bond was. I liked that they kept a number of the same villains, but made them unique for the show. There were also subtle hints to things in the movie too, like the inclusion of an Aston Martin. Though, for me at least, I think it was just boring. It was literally just "Saved By The Bell" with a Bond character. I feel like if they nixed the whole prep school thing, it would have been better. Then again, growing up in the 90's, I absolutely HATED the "let's make a baby version of popular characters and make an entire show of it" trope. I didn't want a young Yogi Bear or Scooby Doo, I wanted Yogi Bear and Scooby Doo.

Another thing to note about Yo Yogi! being cancelled was during it's airing, Hanna-Barbera was bought out by Ted Turner, besides the DIC stuff that was heavily reliant upon licensed works, most of NBC's live action content they began to rely on was done in-house, as well, the T-NBC block.

man these vids are bringing back some memories. i remember most of these cartoons. back when fox was just starting some of the line up was standard but some of the shows i only saw advertisements for and in my state some stations got different cartoons for some reason. and the time it would come on was random. i remember having to get up earlier than normal for school one time and seeing toxic avenger and battle toads at like 6 in the morning. i tried to get up and watch it again and i never got to see them again. one cartoon i cannot remember the name of to save my life was one where there was a group of oddball characters but one guy had a head and his helmet was kind of shaped like a bullet or missle and his head would come off and go flying around and knock over some enemies and then come back on his body. an old elemtary school friend drew a picture of them that i used to have. they were kind of like a knock off xmen or similar type of a team. i rember that bullet head guy and there was a girl and several others but that was one cartoon i only saw maybe 2 episodes of and i cant even remember if it was on fox, usa or cbs and i cant remember if it watched it on saturday before school or after.

I've more heard of these cartoons than actually watched them, I was only 2 in '91 after all. However I've gone back and watched Bucky O' Hare which is *awesome*, Wish Kid had a catchy theme tune and Yo Yogi is bad but it's also bad in fun ways. Space Cats was unknown to me, it looks like it might have been animated by more than one studio. Little Shop is completely new to me despite liking the musical a lot. I like it's art style!

I grew up in Brazil in the 90's and only a few of the cartoons popular in the USA would be brought over here, since cable TV was still not broadly available until the 00's. If you were a kid you would have to depend on kids show in the morning and afternoon in just a couple of TV channels to watch your cartoons. For that reason, not all of these one season wonders got to be aired here at the time. Out of all the cartoons in this video I believe only James Bond Jr and the Macaulay Culkin show got to be shown on Brazilian TV.

I remember liking James Bond Jr. and Bucky O'Hare as a kid, and I was very much disappointed when the latter ended so early. Among the others, I have a vague recollection of Yo Yogi (teen 90s revamp of older popular characters were quite common back then) and of the Little Dracula toys, although I'm not sure I had ever watched an episode of it. No clue whether the others were even broadcast at all in my country.

I was unaware of Space Cats or Little Dracula. I was an avid watcher of Yo Yogi (and had the glasses at the ready for when he spun his hat). I think I watched Wish Kid (vague memories that it had a bully named Francis? or might be thinking of another show). The others I wouldn't go out of my way to watch, and most would induce channel-flipping. As a side note, I'm not sure I would consider a full 65 episode run as failed, that's the magic number to put it in syndication as reruns.

Actually lots of cartoons competed with Nickelodeon. Only a few were successful (looking at you, X-Men '92 and not really a cartoon as much as a live action kid's show, but Power Rangers), others remain pretty obscure. Find me one person on the planet who remembers shows like James Bond Jr or Bobby's World fondly. Same with Mighty Max. Only 5 or 6 kids who grew up in the 90s remembers any of those shows because a majority of 90s kids were too busy watching Nickelodeon. Nick set a bar so high, hardly anyone was able to reach it

I remember all of these... *except* _Little Dracula_ . *The **_Bucky O'Hare_** toyline absolutely was a thing!* It didn't do well or last long, IIRC. I owned a Bucky himself, as well as Blinky. They were similar in construction to _Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle_ toys of the time. This likely both helped and hurt the toys; they were good _but_ why get them if you could just get the latest TMNT stuff? While I remembered _almost_ all of them, I didn't _watch_ all of them regularly. Some I missed because of a terrible time slot ( _Bucky O'Hare_ and _Space Cats_ ), others because they were opposite something else I preferred, or just because I didn't really enjoy them. However, when first teased, I am sure I loved *all* of them. I was an easy sell as a kid. XD
