I found out the guy from 30 Seconds to Mars was an actor when he was cast as Joker. Didn't even know it was him in Fight Club. He's more notable as a musician than as an actor.

Yeah, I know he says he divorces his musician persona from his acting persona, but I sometimes think Suicide Squad would’ve been better if Joker sang “The Kill” to Harley.

I wish I could have met that man. Fought against the Nazis, actually MET Tolkien who insisted that Lee was destined to play Gandalf (I believe he said he felt he was too old by the time they made the movies and McKellen was a better fit), but he was at least still in the films (one weekend I need to sit down and watch my extended version of the saga). My favorite story has to be when they were filming LoTR, and there was a stabbing scene, and he was talking to Jackson about it. Jackson said that Lee stopped him and demonstrated that actual movements, and/or corrected what would happen (like the sound of air escaping from the body or something) in such an event. And then walked away like it was nothing and left Jackson speechless (and I believe he said slightly disturbed), and I think he said it was because Lee WAS such a nice person in real life (and so old, but the man actually aged magnificently) and had been acting for so long, you forgot he had a life before that. And that it was a violent one as he didn’t shirk his patriotic duties in times of war, and because he was so grandfatherly, it was kind of hard to imagine him at any age just killing Nazis and others enough times that he’s able to correct a director in the sounds a man would make as he died. And that when heavy metal music became popular he was already getting fairly old, and most would have (or still do) hated it, usually ranting on it as the Devil’s music, and here he comes releasing Heavy Metal Christmas albums. I played a bit of one of the songs, and then for my mom (I just can’t get into metal music, but I idolize Lee and the same can be said for my mom), and she couldn’t believe it.

Acting is a skill. You find commonality with a character and get into the headspace of how that character thinks and feels. You embody them. Music is a collaboration. It’s taking ideas and applying them to sounds and notes. Bandmates are playing off each other, improvising. It has less to do with one person and it being a perfect storm. One person can be creative but eventually the well will run dry. That’s why solo artists or groups with only one member contributing 99% of the creativity and effort do not make it far. If you do see one person make it, it’s because the studio is behind the wheel. That one person is just one vehicle of a few others.

That's because he is a mediocre musician. He spends more time putting on his "rock star" clothes and accessories than he spends playing. Most of the time he is on stage with 5 other guitarists who are actually playing while he keeps adjusting the pot knobs on the guitar and strumming the odd chord.
