I like the idea of movies being linked like this, you get a feeling of continuity while not having to be anal about it. Makes for a good anthology. A shattered multiverse.

I didn't clamour to see this, but I streamed it about a year after it came out. I loved it. John Goodman is fantastic as kind and creepy at the same time (that dancing to the jukebox scene tho) and the "oh come on" realization that he was both crazy AND right is perfect.

nice review, I do wish they ended it right when she left the bunker and saw the ship because it got pretty silly right at the end imo. Goodman was fantastic!

Crazyyy to see yah finally release this one! A interesting standalone overall and John Goodmans and John Gallaghers performances are top notch as hell! I remember the marketing the year prior before release being just a secretive as the first film I was hyped as shittt! Luckily I didn’t hate the film at all especially with its intense “Thriller” feel as it genuinely had me on edge wondering what’s going to happen to next!

This is entire film relies on us not knowing what's outside. Who's right, who's wrong. Except they decided to make it a Cloverfield movie so we know exactly what's outside and it kind of kills the mystery and thrills of the movie.

I think the ending might have worked better if it had shown her getting into the car and then cut directly to her driving down the road, that quick, ominous flash of a ship in the sky being all you ever see of the aliens. The stuff that happens in-between is all a little too ridiculous for what has, up till that point, been a rather grounded horror film, and this way the fans of the original still get their big spooky alien reveal. It's still a pretty enjoyable watch, though, especially John Goodman's character (the man is a treasure). I remember being so genuinely shocked when he shot that other guy I literally shouted out loud... well, something KZfaq probably wouldn't like me repeating.

I agree with you about the ending. Some things are better left unexplained. Or don't make the mistake and push your ending far beyond it needs to go (lady finding a living spaceship? Nice; lady defeating spaceship with Molotov cocktail? Yeah, sure, whatever). By the way, love your copy of the Naturom Demonto. Keep up the good work.

Dude, you should review "Come to Daddy" starring Elijah Wood. Either that or review "Maniac" (both the original and remake, both do an excellent job portraying the main unaliver).

You're kinda viewing it as if its a sequel or entry in a conventional cinematic universe, when its more like an anthology series of movies. The aliens and Clovie (as you called it) are connected, think of it like Pacific Rim but they don't outright tell you aliens are making the monsters. It doesn't spoonfeed you the lore like a lot of monster movies do, and I like it for that.

Didn't see the commercial before I watched it, and wasn't a bad movie. I feel no re-watch value and probably only watched it cause of the Cloverfield name (and maybe King Ralph).

I saw this one first never hearing about Cloverfield before so I really liked it. Then at some point I found a copy of Cloverfield which I didn't really like (motion sickness). However, I understand why people wouldn't like this because they wanted a true sequel to Cloverfield.
