I am from the United States and my husband is from Peru. He has lived here for around 20 years now and he just became a citizen last year. We have been together for 16 years and have three children together. His English is not perfect. He still has a pretty strong accent but I love it! I probably understand about 50% Spanish and our children do not understand Spanish at all. I’ve never been to his country yet either. Our oldest child has been there once. Everyone always asks me why I do not speak Spanish and why we didn’t teach our children Spanish. I feel bad about it. I want to learn more Spanish now. The only thing is I think a lot of Spanish teachings is the Spanish used in Spain. I would love to visit his country someday and be able to speak and understand his family 100% and not only half. I think these videos will help. I hope. I am really passed due in learning Spanish. Better late than never I guess.

¡Jeje! Laugh in Spanish. Spanish speakers say jaja or jeje. Do you know why? ¿Sabes por qué? Because the /j/ sound in Spanish is the equivalent to the /h/ sound in English. Jeje, Gracias por ver mi canal.

Stumbled onto Butterfly Spanish about an hour ago, looked at a couple other sites before settling on this one. This young lady does an excellent job in presenting her material. hola Ana! i'm from India and i really appreciate the efforts taken by you ! extremely helpful! I'm going to Mexico in August for one year and would like to learn the language in the best possible way. It's great to know that you're from Mexico too so the accent is known to me. in Hindi as well objects have a gender and the there are conjugations for every personal pronoun so it's very easy to relate the concept. very thoughtful of you to upload these videos:) Keep it up!

Hola Ana! This is a great video. Just recently in Guatemala when I was there a lot of my soldiers did not know how to ask these basic questions. So, I shared this video with the guys and showed them your channel so they can use more spanish when we go back. I plan on just dropping my English and using just spanish when we got back to try increase my spanish more. Thanks again.

Hello AnaI love your lessons!I teach preschool and would love to learn some Spanish so I can communicate with some of our Spanish speaking children.Some basic things we say are sit down, stand up, girls, boys, it's outside time, nap time, lunch time. One little girl always ask when it's time to go home or I want to go home, she ask how long til we go home.I guess just some ways to make their day go comfortably and to know that we understand them.Thank you

Sit down (to the group): siéntense OR Tomen asiento stand up: pónganse de pie or levántense. I would say de first one. Boys: Niños Girls: Niñas nap time: La hora de la siesta - It is time for napping: llegó la hora de la siesta or simply: es hora de la siesta lunch time: Hora del almuerzo If the girl is asking all those questions, you could say, "nos iremos a casa pronto" (we are going home soon) "ten paciencia" (be patient). Nos iremos a casa en dos (2) horas (We are going home in two hours (you could always change the number). If is almost time to leave, you can simply say: "ya casi" or "ya casi nos vamos (we will leave shortly) Saludos,

I was a little confused on No. 7. For anyone that didn't understand it "al" means "to the " or "at the". It is a + el = al. Al is a contraction of a and el. But you can't make a contraction when using "la."

You are a very good teacher in Spanish for beginners. All the classes I took on it they talked all in Spanish and expected you to understand full on paragraphs from the beginning. Needless to say I didn't learn much from those classes. You, on the other hand, speak mostly English and save Spanish talk for the actual teaching of Spanish. Therefore, I learn quite well with you.

First, thank you for taking the time to help those of us that would like to be bilingual and not have the attitude of "This is America, speak English", ironically most native English speakers use impropper grammar daily! I am not sure what hapened in our schools where people don't know the difference between "there", "their", or "they're". Sorry I got off on a tangent! My biggest confusion lately is the use of "que". Most people already know it is used as "what" or "that". I can't figure out why it is injected into phrases such as "Tengo que ir al bano". To me, that translates to "I have that to go to the bathroom", which doesnt make sence! I didn't see that you have already made a video on this, so I was hoping you could clear it up, it is driving me crazy! Thanks again and great job on your lessons!

I have to go to the bathroom, is a better way to translate that sentence, the problem here is that in English our 'que' commonly isn't in your sentences, is the same case with gerunds and infinitives, on Spanish we have a lot of prepositions in the middle of everyone. so if u try to translate English to Spanish maybe you gonna sound like a robot.

Cory Hull Oh! That's because "have to" is translated as "tener que". Keep in mind that wnen it comes to translation, some words are either added or ommited in order for the translation to be accurate. Let me explain a bit more. The word "thief" can be translated as "ladrón" or more colloquially "ratero", and a mugger is an "asaltante", but the word "burglar" can't be translated into Spanish by using a single word. Here in Mexico we would translate it roughly as: "ladrón de casas". Some words or expressions in one language have a whole concept behind them.
