In 1977 NYC had a major blackout and the only thing that worked in my house was my Dick Tracy radio watch. So keep that charged, maybe a lifesaver someday. I bet if I still had mine it would be worth a good amount.

Anything can be an EDC item if you "carry it everyday", EDC isn't based on price. I mean, phones cost $1000 and it's on everyone's EDC.

@@JJiG To be honest, I don't care if it's $500, $600, or $1,000. It doesn't matter if it's useless or not, expensive or cheap. If you bring it with you everyday, then it's EDC. I'm not arguing about price or usefulness, I'm stating that EDC is literally what you bring with you "everyday", no matter it's price or usefulness.

Katsu is another Chinese brand pretending to be "handcrafted in Japan," then proceeding to mark up absolutely everything to the sky. Couple with the fact that "AXIS lock" is a copyrighted name (Benchmade) for crossbar locks, I recommend that no one give them a chance. Nothing wrong with Chinese brands, but you have to consider the value. Reate makes knives in the same price range or higher; their knives don't look like $50 and under garbage

@@ethanhu4960 Respectable brands explicitly advertise where their products are made, in which most big Chinese knife brands do. In this case, the brand heavily implies that their knives are "handcrafted in Japan"; made in China is completely absent from their site. From a quick search, it seems as if Katsu *used* to advertise made in China but no longer does--I wonder why Like I said, there's nothing wrong with being made in China. Lying about or omitting that fact means the brand is willing to hide more important things (such as materials, heat treat, QC, etc) This channel doesn't do reviews; they showcase cool *looking* products for views, affiliate link income, and sponsorships. As such, the turnaround time is nigh instant by nature, to no fault of Vincent and the team. None of this benefits the end user of a product, so use your best judgement

The information you possess is outdated. It is true that the axis lock was previously patented by Benchmade, but that patent has now expired. Haven't you noticed that a majority of brands are using the axis lock mechanism now? I don't think there is any issue with KATSU being a Chinese brand. They collaborate with renowned Japanese knife designers to participate in the design process and release co-branded products. If you truly own a KATSU product, you wouldn't casually criticize it like this.
