I love these tiny character details. It's part of why Link's Awakening is my favourite (all the little extra characterisation you get for Marin), and honestly one of the main reasons I don't love Wind Waker (there's not a lot of these tiny minor character moments, at least comparatively).

Well, in a way his a mirror of Link, so it seems fitting...

He actually mirrors your health, as well. So like, if you go into the fight with just a quarter heart left, he'll be defeated in one hit.

I always liked how much personality Zelda has in this game, even though she's only in a few scenes. This dialogue just adds to that

What's sad about this, though, is that once you get all three spiritual stones, you can never experience this dialogue unless you start a new file. Once Zelda and Impa flee from Hyrule Castle Town, you can never visit the garden area you first meet Zelda in. Three guards will block the path once you get inside the castle through the water spout. It's sad that you can't experience this dialogue after getting the Ocarina of Time, but it's true.

I think it works only on a particular version of the game. Like 1.1 or 1.2 not sure

Power crouch stab works on all versions of OoT and Japanese Majora's Mask (Not 3D but all versions of those two, including Virtual Console). Fun fact, in Majora's Mask crouch stabs do 0 damage until you swing your sword first. In OoT I believe it is set to 1, or a Kokori Sword/Broken Giant's Knife slash.

The glitch is caused by the crouch stab attack having a null damage value (an error by developers) so it just grabs the previous value.

they honestly probably didn't want to program in different reactions and opted to just have different dialogue, but it certainly does give an impression of her being genuinely kind.

The key is doing it before her escape though, which means you can only beat 1 more dungeon before you're locked out

Nintendo is a heartwarming beast. They didn't have to add those bits of dialogue, and most AAA developers wouldn't.

How do you do it? I have tried... but never was able to. Also does not the fact there's less guards alude to that theory there's inside traitors? I always tough tge guard was weaker and Link cold enter the castle cuz Impa weakened it hoping said "light appeared"

@@everthon2457 I was able to enter the castle again after completing Dodongo's Cavern but before completing Jabu-Jabu's belly in order to show Zelda the masks. I haven't played in a while or run tests so I'm not sure if you can do it sooner. It's very possible the guard was reduced by Impa's Orders so Link could enter. It's also possible that the guard is just naturally that low because Hyrule is technically enjoying relative peace since, prior, there was a civil war which led to the unification of Hyrule. This is the civil war which led to Link being left with the Great Deku tree when his mom died in the forest. Perhaps the King himself relaxed the guard to prove to the citizens that Hyrule was at peace once more. This may also be why he agreed to meet with Ganondorf against his daughter's wishes. If I recall correctly, we do see the guard increase after Zelda and Impa flee, to the point where trying to enter the courtyard is impossible. I don't think it's ever definitively answered why the guards in the courtyard are so lax that an actual child is able to slip in though. It could be Impa, the King, or any number of reasons. All we know for sure is that security definitely tightens up once Ganondorf makes his evil intentions known. Alas, given the future of 7 years, the boost in security didn't do much and Ganondorf was still able to take over.

Theoretically then, if we shot Zelda in the chest with Light Arrows, would she turn upside down?

@@adirblazkowics7717 yes I did after using ice arrows just use the hookshot while it's trying to break the ice so you don't have to equip regular arrows and use lense bongos eye is vulnerable during this so you don't need to switch I've beating bongo like this many times

I could be wrong but I'm pretty sure you get the big rupee from somewhere else in the game too. Edit: I was wrong, it was the gold rupee I was thinking of.

They're especially useful against the enemies in Jabu Jabu.

Probably my favorite use of them is forcing the Forest Temple poe sisters to reappear when they periodically turn invisible/intangible. That way you don't have to just wait them out when they do that.

Honest to god ive been playing this game since ot came out and not once did it occur to me that crouch stabbing actually has some niche applications. Even if it is an exploit or glitch (at least i think thats whats happening here)

@@candywing7798 it's a programming oversight. It's a missing line of code to set the properties of your attack when crouch stabbing. It was fixed in English Majora's Mask though.

Yeah I was curious myself on a recent playthrough and, sure enough, she was. Interestingly, Impa will also reappear to take you outside, but in weeping angel fashion, only when you turn the camera towards zelda after getting halfway to her (so looking at the entrance to the courtyard all the way up to zelda then making the camera do a 360⁰ turn will make her *pop* into existence

@@linkflamesaber2462 you can sneak up in until you get the Zora's Sapphire. After you get it and you get the cutscene of Impa fleeing with Zelda, the guards will block off the route you used.

All the ones that you can talk to when those masks are accessible. For example Zelda has no reaction to the last four masks, as it is normally impossible to get them before she escapes from the castle

She won't have unique dialogue because the running man doesn't spawn until Link has all 3 spiritual stones

They also deal more damage to Volvagia, but the game gives no visual indication of that, and it's not really worth going all the way to GTG right after the Forest Temple. (iirc there is one key locked behind hammer blocks, but you only need 5 of the 7 keys to get ice arrows)

All the townsfolk freak out if you wear the Gerudo Mask.

Pretty sure it can since it carries the same properties so it could be a cute way to solve the puzzles

Yeah you can activate switches with it! You can even crouch stab through the Song of Time block that blocks one of them!

The implication from OoT is that Bunny's have been a long extinct animal. (Stalchildren may be skeletons of bunny humanoids as they do not attack Link if he's wearing the Bunny Hood) The rest is spot on.

She doesn't react to them, unfortunately. When I was younger and had the time to try such tedious things, I moon-jumped over the wall next to the guards after going through the moat. Interestingly, all the guards are gone in the actual path to get to her aside from the very first ones. She reacts to the rabbit mask, as shown in the video; you can get that mask before she disappears, but you can't give it to the jogger until after, so I think a lot of people miss the opportunity to do so. But yeah, The Mask of Truth, the Goron mask, the Gerudo mask, and the Zora mask get no response; she only says the same thing she said before you get the Zora Sapphire.

It works on all versions of OoT and wasn't patched until Majora's Mask actually! JP 1.0 and 1.1 Majora's Mask has it and it was really weird then since crouch stabs were set to 0 damage instead of 1 like in Ocarina of Time, meaning they would literally do no damage.
