Hi Eric! I apologize for taking so long to get back to you. We just got back from a 10 day Alaska cruise an I'm trying to get caught up. I love meeting new people on cruises, too. I loved the architecture and the amazing history in Cartagena, but the contstant hassling by street vendors really put a damper on things for us. The biggest downside was the hassling from the street vendors, but you run into that almost everywhere in the Caribbean. My wife and I prefer playing the video games in the casino. We'll occasionally sit down at a blackjack table, but that's about it. Have fun and GOOD LUCK!

Welllll....we did gamble quite a bit on that cruise, but we kept winning, too. We were pretty lucky on that cruise. We both left with a profit from the casino plus a free cruise offer from the Player's Club. In a couple weeks I have a rundown of THAT cruise and the casino on the Ruby. Spoiler Alert: The casino got some of their money back.

@@alanjf_bradenton_fl As with just about anyplace, I'd say there are some areas that are safer than others. That being said, I was always on guard when we were walking around. On the bus ride to the Old City, we saw a lot of walls and fences with barbed wire and broken glass on top to deter trespassers. Plus, as I mentioned, our guide told us to watch our possessions, so he was obviously aware of the increased risk of petty crime. I think if you go on an organized excursion, you should be fine, but I wouldn't go out wandering on my own.

Well, I don't know if I would exactly call it a "career". I'm the first to admit that we were very lucky on the cruise. We usually bring enough money so that we can plan on losing about $100 per day in the casino. On this trip, we lucked out. All of our winnings came from the machines. I will occasionally play blackjack, but I didn't on this cruise. I'm not into craps or roulette, but I noticed there were always crowds at those tables.
