Despite the theory of Luca and Alberto being together, I'm happy they didn't turn Gulia into the typical girl love interest for Luca. Everyone has totally different goals in the movie, and love is no where in site. At least, not for Gulia and Luca. Now Alberto in the other hand, a little debateable haha. But Gulia just wants to win and Luca wants to explore. And they're both simply in the friendship for the ride to getting there. I love the way this movie was put together. You kinda read between the lines and take it as you will. I personally saw Luca and Alberto being a little more than friends. However I love that they kinda left it a mystery ❤️

I feel like the fact that Alberto gets so jealous and protective when Luca hangs out with Gulia/Guilia is mainly because of his abandonment issues. I feel like he is mainly so jealous, protective and bossy because he is scared Luca will leave him just like his dad did, and if it never happened he would be able to cope with his jealousy better and not lash out or take over the situation the same way he did in the movie Don't get me wrong though, even if he wouldn't have them he would still, without a doubt, be jealous and protective. But then it would not be as severe and only be because he likes Luca and because he doesn't want him to be outed as a sea monster, not (also) because he is scared Luca will leave him just like his dad did I felt like this is a pretty crucial part of the story and just wanted to mention it since I noticed you left it out-

I love how in spite of his jealousy and esteem issues, Alberto in the end embraces Giulia as the true friend she's been all along. But as Massimo has adopted Alberto in Ciao Alberto Alberto gets something even more precious. A father and a sister.

With their species living on land makes me think of "the shadow over innsmouth" Also with Luca and Albertos relationship, I read the article about not having them together, they said they saw it as friendship that turns into romance. Which I personally like, cuz relationships dont usually start as quickly as most movies portray (I dunno, might be wrong)

No offense or anything but i had a friendship where we were a trio but me and this girl in the trio were friends before we met the other person in our group. I noticed that friend #1 and friend #2 were getting along well and were leaving me out of stuff and completely forgetting i was there. I started acting like alberto but i was less aggressive. I started pulling #1 to the side saying i needed to have a private conversation with her but really it was just an excuse to leave #2 out. I started saying things about #2 in front of her knowing very well that she was standing right behind us, and when i was playing truth or dare with #2 and some other girl in my class i dared #2 to stay away from #1 for the whole day. I was horrible to her and i regret it now, but jealousy over crowded my judgement. Does this mean i was in love with #1? NO! U can be jealous and be straight at the same time! Trust me, i was alberto, and i never thought of #1 as a romantic relation. I just thought that #2 was trying to steal her away from me I hope that clears stuff up, and i hope those in this situation dont do what i did. Instead, have a talk with them and tell them that you feel left out. I did, and it made our trio much more enjoyable :)

I'm glad he they decided to change the part about Giulia or the whole red sky beach scene where Alberto reveals himself could'nt happen and I believe that is one if not THE most powerful scene in this animated movie! Alberto and Lucas "perhaps" gay relationship is so much better unrevealed. Definitely NOT as so not to offend! Just because some things are better left to ponder because of the love of having a secret in your heart to hold. A somewhat forbidden or unfurled passion is so much more fun!😁
