Bad beats are why some people play. They love to tell a suck out story where they beat some local legend player holding pocket aces with their 72o. It's going to happen to you too. Smile, say "Nice hand!", and keep playing. Be warned... there is no make-up justice, you may lose that same hand many times in a row despite being a massive favorite each time.

Yep, I am still trying to recover from a bunch of 1000 + BB pots that I got sucked out in. When your green line is way below the yellow line, take solace in the fact that you got your money in ahead. As much as it sucks, I would take some of those spots an infinite number of times, because I would be absolutely printing, but run it once and all.

Yes, there is. I used to crush at a $0.25/$0.50 game that these idiots set the buy in to only $20 and had no idea they were running a short stack game. You have to call with certain hands, raise big with others. By "big", I mean up to 12 bbs pre flop with strongest holdings, ie 1010, JJ, QQ, KK AA, and AK/ AQs, maybe just 6 bbs for medium strength hands like QJs, J10s. Be willing to throw away any hand when they reraise the flop or turn. Also, wait, wait, WAIT for position to really have total control of the table. Play 90% of your hands from the button and CO. Be willing to open raise with hands like K3s from the button. Key word is OPEN! If it folds, or limps to you while in position. And use black rains rule of 1 extra bb per limper. So it's an initial 3 bbs for blinds, then an extra BB for each limper, when you're in position with a hand like A7s, K8s, A3s, and so on. Also, this is where you can also do it with 22, 33, and so on. Why? Because you have position and can see how the fish act when they check. They check because they don't have anything, not because they just flopped a set. Hope this helps. I used to buy in this game with $20 and leave with over $150 every weekend. Sometimes over $200. They would rarely bust me and make me buy back in. I even had their spectating wife's saying "Israel always has all the chips." 😭🤣

I'm a small to mid stakes player in South Florida for over 10 years. Had a winning January with some hi hands and tournament final tables, then on mega tilt in February online and in the poker rooms... I literally just was in an online tournament about to get knocked out, started watching this channel and it reminded me of how to play solid. Now I'm about to be in the final table in the same small online tournament of about 300 people!

In a previous video you mentioned to raise pre flop when first in the pot. Is that caveat still present, or did we always raise pre flop, even not first in? And if so, should we just call when we're not first in?
@SHPrtz
@SHPrtz 2 ай бұрын
That will depend a bit on your position and the position/player profile of the raiser a bit, but as a rule of thumb, you can re-raise your strongest hands (AA, KK, QQ, JJ, AKs, AQs) and call with your weaker hands (AQo, AJo, 10 10, 10 9s etc). Pre-flop charts will cover both RFI (raise first in) and vs a preflop raise, and in the latter what % of the time to call and what % of the time to re-raise with good hands.

Nathan I can't thank you enough. I have been playing for about 5 years, and I have been a fish forever. I couldn't believe how much I was able to learn from you in just a couple of short videos. My game has improved drastically, bot online and live. I am finally making money online, and I won my biggest live tournament win last Friday. All because I have followed your tips. "Aggressive poker is winning poker." I love it. I used to limp into the pot all the time.

You say bet big on the turn with top pair, but in a previous video you said "stop and go" with top pair (i.e., check on the turn and then bet on the river)...can you explain which to use when? Great content. Thanks!
@stevenfagaly3810
@stevenfagaly3810 4 ай бұрын
Nathan tends to let people figure out some of these strategies. The type of player you are has a bearing on when to use what idea. Personally, I LOVE the stop and Go when I'm confident I have the best hand. The table inevitably reads a check on the turn as weakness, and a big bet on the river as a bluff. I've won some huge pots like that, when I used to scare people away on the turn.
@algoner4421
@algoner4421 3 ай бұрын
@stevenfagaly3810 it seems as though, obviously, this is just a basic idea of what to do. You have to be able to mix up your place based on the table. Any good players will notice your betting patterns, especially with position and take advantage of it. I do enjoy his content though.

never play $1/2 with max $120 buy-ins as the rake will destroy most any chance of winning. Demonination of chips means nothing. Your hopeful win rate even for a solid player will be less than you're paying for the rakes don't do it

@slowery43 thank you for your input on this, I'm just not feeling that I'm ready to do a 2-3 -3-5 game just yet because the swings can be pretty brutal in loosing my stake in just 1 hand, I'm studying to work my way up the stakes so I am confident that I'll be making the right play decisions, That's why I feel a bit more easy if I loose 120 but I know I'm getting better on my mathematics, preflop post flop strategy
