0:08 is easily my favorite combo I've seen for Elphelt, and one of my favorite combos in the entirety of GGST. That combo is not made to do physical damage, it's made to do emotional damage.

I cannot get the 214 heavy, mid air heavy to link to the close slash, it always drops it there. :(

On the corner to corner if you don't have burst, you can substitute wild assault for 214K > dash red roman cancel

Great video, but there's an important note for the command grab combos you showed. They will NOT work against any opponent who propperly breaks out of the stagger, there is no way to combo from the command grab into the explosion without spending meter. The best option after grab imo is to do 214S, if they don't break out of stagger you can combo into K followup, wait for the explosion and link with c.S and etc. If they do break out of the stagger, which any good player will, they are forced to block your 214S as they're not allowed to do any action while exiting stagger, even a frame perfect dp input will make them take a hit. From there you get a high/low rekka followup that will chain into the explosion so they either get mixed into a combo or you get a reset from the explosion.

@@KineticOrochi i'm lead to believe that your combo post command grab works? In video, the combo number isn't grey, which means it was a true combo and you did things quick enough; they couldn't mash out. Anecdotally, I just went into lab and set the bot to "fast" stagger recovery and it didn't mash out in time; the combo number was still white.

i found that a "better" dust combo is doing jKS > 9jKHS > jS > 9jKK. it does 180 and hits smaller characters with weird hit boxes like may every time.

ive been playing a lot of El and it's a double W for me because not only is Elphelt super fun, but also as a Baiken main I know exactly where the gaps in her rekka are where I can 236p against people just mashing

Thank you for the guide, as a relatively new FG player, and someone compeltely new to Strive (though I did play the OG Guilty Gear and a bit of Accent Core +R) I now have something cool to work on while learning the game. I really like Elphelts attacks and overall character, I wanted the game for a long time and decided to get it on sale for the holidays. One thing I'm sure many of us would appreciate is if these combos could be added to the Combo Maker/Searcher in GGST. Ofc its just a suggestion, I appreciate the work regardless.

f.S > 5H round start does not work on Sol, Bridget, and Asuka. Also, going any further will result in side-switch.

Yep follow up with js instead of jhs in case side switch or you can keep it simple with 214s after 6h but no wall break

"Roundstart combo" - 11 lines - takes 1/3 of enemy's HP, pushes them to scene transition... "combo to get me started". This is scaring me as casual, scaring me away from buying this game XD

@@KineticOrochi For you maybe XD I have tried different fighting games. MK1 is the only one where I can do longer combo strings, sometimes even against other players. DB FighterZ I could do one or two in PRACTISE MODE. In MK1 there are much less directional button imputs involved...that is what makes it hard for me in other games. I have to pay attention to do down 1, down 1, back 2, forward 3 correctly, my finger slips even if I can pay atttention. In MK1 one it is more like forward 2 - 2- 3- then 2 - then down forward 3 - And such. Much easier, for me. Also with those stupid 3 directional button supers. back-down-forward 3 and whatever. It does not come out consistently.

Just to note I haven't checked it for all characters but for some reason unless I am messing it up some how the first combo doesn't work with sol.

@@KineticOrochiYou just have to go to combo create, select your character, then when you're in, you go to the pause menu select record, then do your combo when you do it press save, click a empty slot, there you can pick individual settings like naming it, comments, and upload and save where you save it then post your combo

I'm not sure if someone mentioned this already, but i noticed the round start combo will not work on Sol Badguy. The hs after the far s will whiff. Might be character specific. Haven't tested it on every character though. I'm only a scrub floor 10 player so take this comment with a grain of salt. Would love to know why that is if someone knows. Love the video so much!!!

The first one seems to be ky specific and not very reliable, I tried with sol and even if I get closer so it works elphelt changes positions with sol after pineberry...

Hello, I am able to get off the first few combos fine in training mode, but when I play online matches I always drop it at the HS after the cherry bomb move. I can't tell if im too early or too late but i cant get it specifically in real matches.

There is a way to do slightly more damage with the corner carry combo. it's just that it uses 1 more bar of tension and the positioning is a little tight to do consistently, at least for me.

I can’t get the dash cancel on the 2H counter hit if my life depended on it. I can dash cancel normally but I can’t seem to figure out the timing on that one

any tips on hitting the super at the end of the corner to corner combo? i just cant hit it consistantly im either too far or too slow half the time

Just hold dash forward (I used the double tap forward dash) then instead of re inputting the beginning forward part of the half circle input, just go from your dash, backwards. So hold forward the whole time until you start the half circle input for the overdrive.

First combo may cross up sometimes use jump slash instead after the bomb to be able to link after crossing up

For some reason, far s into heavy slash on round start doesn't work on Sol. So the first combo is useless against Sol.

It's not even like a weight issue bc it hits the lightweights like May fine. I think there's just something buggy about Sol's hurtboxes.

seeing this only reminds me that oh right, I'll never be able to play Strive cause of these impossible combos ,_, I did also practice a Dust combo easier and that does 190 instead of the 185 dmg combo shown 🤔

The first combo may cross up sometimes if you think youll cross up use jump slash instead after the bomb into close slash youll switch side but still continue the combo
