I love the way you teach.. thankyou for sharing in the way you do.. a very nice blend of technic, psychology, and great attitude. There's a ton a folks out here doing it.. but your teaching technic is special in a really good way.. I feel like I've been given a gift.. that is really a full package. Or maybe it's the ESP transparent I don't know.. lol.. The hook.. was when you said "It's not about how he does it, or they do it, or I do it .. it's about how YOU do it". May have been in another of your videos, but I caught it.. and it stuck ..that's absolutely correct.. the technic is the lesson, not your tone, or sound, it's about my tone , sound, and how I apply the technic.. Practice, practice ,practice. Thanks brother. Very inspiring tutorial(s).

Im a 55 year old life long metal head... decided to pick up my favorite instrument and learn to play once all my kids moved out. Harder than I ever imagined! But - your videos are a huge help and give me a lot of fun stuff to play... mostly, I just wanted to tell you that I am *really* digging your albums. Quadzilla is freaking awesome - and really, all the songs are great. For some reason, some of your stuff reminds me a little of Metal Church - which is good, because their first album is one of the all time greatest... great job on the music... FYI I searched for "Metal Workout" on KZfaq and your stuff did not even come up. You might want to tag it different or something?

My favourite is the Demon shriek! This lesson will definitely help me improve my guitar solos. So thank you very much for sharing your knowledge! I would also add to the list a technique Disturbed's Dan Donegan uses. It would go something like this: E - 9 - (not bended) B - 12 - (whole tone bend) Basically you play a C# in the 1st string, and a B in the 2nd string bended to reach another C# Preferably you dont reach the exact same pitch in both strings, so you end up with some sort of screaming bending effect. Call it the screaming bending effect!

The downfall of learning other people’s music is that many bands use different tunings so that really puts a damper on things unless you have one specific band that you really want to learn from.

Hey Jason. Excellent vid. I like the name demon shriek. I used to call it the Tipton. Your name sounds cooler. Quick question, although it might be the topic for another vid entirely. (Or it may just be a stupid question!). You mentioned several times playing off the cuff and not remembering what you played. I'm just really beginning to solo and record. I usually know how I want it to start and how I want it to end. But when I'm recording, I always play by feel. Then once I'm done, I'm thinking, "I could never reproduce that again if I had to." So. 1. Do you lay out the framework or outline of a solo? 2. Do you tab them or write them out as you work through it? 3. When reproducing the solo live are you going as close to note-for-note as possible or do you just go by the outline? Sorry for the long comment/questions. Great stuff as always. Thanks.
@jasonstallworth
@jasonstallworth 3 жыл бұрын
Dude, there are certainly no stupid questions here! The one thing I can tell is is don't overthink the process. I don't write any tabs or anything. I just lay down a riff to a drum beat and start going with that. As far as reproducing solos live...eh, I rarely play the exact same thing live! Some are sticklers for absolutism in that regard, but always pull it off a little different each time, yet still keeping the main melodies. I also have a series for recording here: kzfaq.info/sun/PLUj6Esz5qJKLcp3iyMeKzau10zIxeG58M

Those are great questions. I've always played by ear so the notes just come out. It's almost something that you feel, and you'll get more accustomed to that the longer you play. For you, since you're just starting out, you'll want to learn your basic scales and chords and it will all start coming together for you.

Hey I started playing Accoustic guitar 6months ago and started playing electric 1 ish months ago. I’m 15 and I need to save up for a new electric guitar because the one I’m using right now is very cheap. Do you think The cheaper Jackson Flying Vs are good guitars? What’s your opinion thanks. By the way love the channel you have taught me a bunch about metal playing so far. Thanks

In Rhythmic Solo, do you recommend going for Dominant, Major or minor 7th chords by adding the 4th note into a power chord or a Major/minor chord? Where does the 4th note come from?
@jasonstallworth
@jasonstallworth 2 жыл бұрын
Dude, I don't look at solos at all that way and I don't even think about theory. I'm a big fan of just playing what you feel and what sounds good to your ears.

@@jasonstallworth I am learning these 7th chords now and your fingering matched a bit with the typical hair metal solos which use such chords often.

I think I know how to fix that (there will be only 1-2 instead of several). I believe since this is a longer video, KZfaq by default throws in more ad breaks
