In some ways I like the Uzumaki film more than the manga, the final third of which is very drawn out and repetitive. Still, there are some stories in the manga that were untapped and could be made into an awesome anthology.

Reincarnation, Infection, and Tomie (and many of the Tomie sequels, for that matter). The first film is a movie about a horror movie being filmed about a mass murder/suicide that took place decades before, with the dead coming to reclaim their reincarnations in order to reenact the tragedy and get revenge upon the professor who killed them in the name of his grand experiment. Reincarnation also has one of the creepiest dolls in cinema, though it isn’t as evil as Annabelle or Chucky. Infection is a disturbing, sometimes grotesque horror critique about the relationship doctors and nurses have with their patients, and how distorted it can get when the people responsible for saving lives simply stop caring. Infection and Reincarnation are part of the same series (which also includes Premonition), but they are the best of the bunch IMO. As for Tomie, it’s a effective and faithful cinematic adaptation of one of Junji Ito’s most famous creations. Many of the films in the series tell original stories, but all of them retain that slow creeping dread and the sheer seductive wrongness of the title character. Tomie is second only to Tetsuo in terms of disturbing Japanese body horror, although her brand is more insidious than outright inhuman. You cannot see a film that starts with a fully-formed human head growing inside a little girl’s stomach following a kidney transplant (Tomie: Replay) and not instantly get invested in the horrors to come.

@@deco2gogo Hey. The first one in 1964 was based on the Japanese horror short stories 怪談 by Patrick Lafcadio Hearn known as Yakumo Koizumi 小泉八雲 who acquired Japanese nationality in 1896. He originally came from Greece. The second one in 2007 was based on 落語 Japanese traditional comic storytelling by 三遊亭圓朝 Encho Sanyutei's 真景累ヶ淵 Shinkei-Kasanebushi. The stories consisted of 97 chapters and written in 1859. Each film script are totally different but I guess scary things were very popular among people in the 19th century.

You will have to look at the 1970s flick House if you like balls to the wall insane horror. It is down right mad, scary, imaginative and just down right bizarre. It is one of the best haunted house rides you never want to go on! XD

6:57 :D this chaotic movie is almost at the same level as Izo or Zu Warriors I would've like to add Kuchisake-Onna to the list, but she's as horrifying to me as the Shirime... but I think Chakushin Ari belongs in here... oh, and Uzumaki, Hausu too... O...o

Cannot remember the name but it was kind of a horror police procedural. I remember it involved the beach, a knife, an audio recording and wind. Lots and lots of wind.

There is something deeply unsettling about these films. Surprised to see Tetsuo on here. Did it have two different names or was there a sequel? I seem to remember "Tetsuo:The Bodyhammer", not Ironman.

Ironman is the first movie, Bodyhammer is a sequel of sorts, I have the Blu-ray set. Believe there was also a third movie but never seen it anywhere and think it was poorly reviewed. Nightmare Detective by the same director is also worth checking out.

Friends is a Japanese television show where the channel announcer of a man with his impressive voice explains and analyzes clips and slow-motion images of various ghost shapes captured while filming the environment. If you know the address or name of the popular Japanese horror channel, send it to me. I'd appreciate that.

Hi Ash I think Ju-On was the creepiest Japanese horror I’ve seen the grudge with Sarah MG wasn’t a patch on the original I’m a big horror fan, I’ve also seen there’s a remake of the grudge this year which I’ll have to see to compare however ,I still think Japanese horror is high up there along with the master pieces like saw, the original NMOES and the Friday the 13th’s the originals. For me nothing better than a great horror movie and, Heavy Metal, Love your you tube channel big fan keep up the great work .
