You got the right kind of primer. That's the best primer ever ever. Ever. Anything with zenza on it is the best primer. I did my whole house when it was darkstain trim. I did my whole house in that. It covered really well and then. I could go back and paint it white good job I don't know if you've ever used the quarts of chocolate paint at Walmart right off-the-shelf. Or gallon that stuff works just as good as the folk art or any of the other ones that are out there. It's really a good chunk paint. It's in colors and you can get it mixed for different colors. If you want a color mix, then it they'll put a collar in it for you

OMG! Finally! Someone who’s paying attention to the details! LIKE PAINTING THE INSIDE EDGE OF DRAWER FRONTS! AND cleaning! Properly! You win the me award for best DIY. It drives me insane when I watch flip videos and people just ignore these details! One of whom apparently flips for serious $$$ I just don’t know how you can ask $500+ per item when cutting corners and not caring about overspray inside cabinets or drawer bottoms or not sanitising interiors etc. It’s sloppy. …also 😱 flip 5! What were they thinking? Horror! I can only imagine all the beautiful furniture destroyed by poor vision, planning and skill

Zhey guys the next time ya cut wood off the side of a chest of drawers you can use a router with a flush trim bit at the beginning or after ya trim it off with the jig saw to finish it and ya won’t have much sanding to do unless you never used a router check out some videos

Beautiful work! I agree with you regarding your position on not carelessly throwing away furniture. Yes, the economy is definitely circling the drain. Everything has become very expensive. In our situation, after my parents passing about 2 years ago, I retained most of their furniture. Most is 60 years old. I have been refinishing the pieces as I have time, using many of the techniques I have seen you use. Once again, thank you for the inspiration. I have mentioned that in previous comments. You also mentioned that your wife has a "rock shop." Rocks as in crystals? I would be very interested in seeing her inventory if she has an online store. Thank you & many blessings!

Love that you see the value in some great furniture pieces, such pieces aren't frequently made these days. You go to such detail to create a smooth finish but you lose many of the beautiful details in the natural wood, curved lines and finer details of the original with an allover coat of some good paint. The wood grain of the drawers on #6 were really special.
@UniqueUpcycles
@UniqueUpcycles 2 жыл бұрын
Thank you Jennifer! So that Eastlake was actually a repaint that I did. The first time I refinished it I did my best to save the Burl wood drawer fronts. It was already full of bondo and wood filler when I picked it up. I had it listed for sale for quite a while and just wasn’t getting any interest in it. When I went to refinish it again I originally wanted to keep the wood front but realized it was too far gone once I started stripping it back. Some of the bondo and filler that was previously used by the old owner was cracking and falling apart. It would be almost impossible to fill it and match the Burl pattern so the best option at that time was to paint it so that it could at least continue to live out its life in a new home. Trust me I try to save unique features like that when I can. Thanks for watching!

What do you charge for your pieces
@UniqueUpcycles
@UniqueUpcycles 2 жыл бұрын
@@patriciagraves8824 It really just depends on the piece. That Eastlake I had originally listed it at $350 and dropped it to $250 before I repainted it. Eastlake’s don’t sell well in my area. I’ve seen several refinished ones sitting on marketplace for months and months. Most of my pieces sell around the $300 range. The dresser that I painted green and added the apothecary pulls on sold for $450. Some people can sell pieces for more and others for less depending on their location and market. I’m in Washington state just south of Seattle.

Good job, do you ever put a dark and taking over top like a water base and ticking over top of your colors to make it look vintage and old country? I did that color and then I put the dark and ticking over it and rubbed it off and like a woodgrain texture with an old brush and it looked so good

Well, my sweet child….what can I say? This montage of your work was way to damn long! Even my dog fell asleep. 🤣🤣🤣You know I thoroughly enjoyed watching your very, very hard work making these furniture pieces into beautiful, collector pieces. And, I think most people do not realize what it takes to redo furniture like this. The hours of prep. The hours of repairing. The hours of lost sleep, thinking about what comes next for a problem piece. The list goes on…. Music thoughts for next montage…T-Pain..Tupac..Nelly..Biggie Smalls..Boyz to Men..Outkast…Snoop Dogg. L L Cool J….Warren G….etc. AMBER…THIS WAS PERFECT! Love you more! ❤️NANAJANET ❤️😘😘

Why are furniture flippers always working on the floor? Using a table would be better for the flipper's knees and back.
@UniqueUpcycles
@UniqueUpcycles 2 жыл бұрын
I use a knee pad most of the time to kneel on. I work in my very small spare bedroom so I don’t have room for an extra work table. I also live alone so if I’m working on a large heavy piece I would probably cause more injury trying to get it up onto that table. In a perfect world I would have a shop with a work table. Maybe one day. Goals!

Time and time again you stripped paint back to beautiful wood, with gorgeous grain; then you PAINTED over what you'd just revealed; Why?? That last cabinet, (the old music cabinet), really deserved to be left as it was, YET once again you painted all that glorious wood a boring colour! Sorry love; I'm outa here, and I won't be back!

Stop leaving mean comments. What she does with her furniture that she paid for with her own money on her channel does not affect you or your life whatsoever. If you’d like to start a channel restoring furniture, go right ahead. There’s a lot of people who prefer that over painted furniture. And guess what? That’s ok to have a difference in opinion. What’s not ok is that your comment is flat out disrespectful. You can respectfully disagree or, even better, you can move along and not say anything.
