Hey Sir, Spoken like a wise man. I have had quite a few garden failures myself. This has been my and my husband's first garden this spring 2024. Recently, I planted broccoli rabe, carrots, and swiss chard on the same row jammed packed side by side. That was really shortsightedness on my part. I did not see ahead. Those huge broccoli rabe plants are shading out almost all of the carrots and almost all of the swiss chard. We grew eleven watermelons that I counted, but only ate one. We did not realize the Carolina Greys were only expected to grow to the size of a honey dew melon. All but one of them had blossom end rot and/or bursted open in the dirt and the ants ate them up; while we waited for them to grow a foot long and almost a foot round. We should have done our research. We planted Rutgers tomatoes too without doing any research. They grew well on "little low to the ground" bushes. We were expecting them to turn red, but they never did! They never blushed! We kept waiting for the tomatoes to turn red, only to realize that they had been eaten through by pests. I have had a few more seeming garden failures, but I will keep them to myself for now. Thank you for sharing your garden failures turned into learning opportunities. You are entertaining as well as knowledgeable. I will keep watching because your channel is worth watching to me. Sincerely, Wanda

Hey Broke! No garden mistakes, just garden experiences. Overall, you are hard-headed 😂. However, I give you browny points on holding yourself accountable😊. Also, I don't experience that much dryness with my grow bags. I mulch heavily with straw. I have drip irrigation, watering my plants once a day for 35 to 40 minutes a day. And it's been in triple digits for over 3 weeks here in Cali. Thanks for sharing!😊 Lessons we all learn. 😊

Great message Broke. It happens to the best of us. Me and you both are in the same boat but for me that worm hit my nectarines...hard. SMH! Didn't see any bugs on them the 1st year so I thought I didn't have any in my area and I've had that clay. Just didn't use it. SMH! We'll do better next year.

Accountability is always SO BEAUTIFUL TO Me -- and quiet as it's kept, it's a great representation of ACTUAL *knowledge* . Folks who are accountable for their own mishaps & poor choices are most likely to BE KNOWLEDGEABLE ABOUT WTF they're talking about WHEN THEY DO profess to know something. 5:52 This shows that you ARE *ALWAYS* OPEN FOR GROWTH and THAT is IMPERATIVE in this era. The failures are bogus (especially the ones where you knew better) so ShameOnYou, lol, but the accountability is GORGEOUS, and it ensures your own EVOLUTION and the UNlikelihood of repeating the same mistakes. This is a fantastic video. And your plants KNOW YOU by now, JUST LIKE YOU KNOW *THEM* . They gon' fuss when you don't do right, but they ALSO gon' always know that you love them. 💜🧑🏽‍🌾💜

Nice video Broke, what I learned from this video is were a lot a like, we all start out the same way, we all start out with a great plan and forget it faster than I made it😂😂 I'm so guilty . Broke you did surprise me when you said you didn't take any cuttings of your trees, That truly surprised me. Next year you'll do great with all these failures and you'll figure out some new one for next year. I hope your trees make it through the winter, you have spent a lot of money and time just looking for a lot of them.

Before i purchased my grow bags .i heard many who used them say they will dry out especially the black ones.I have oil change containers from the dollar tree i can sit mine in( pour water in it and let it wick up).I also from time to time massage the soil and break it up.Also if need be add more soil. I havent had mine to rip YET! but i haven't had them long either. This is only my fourth year in gardening so i have had whammy mistakes 😅😅

If you know better, do better. Wise words! Hahaha sometimes hard to follow for us stubborn gardeners. 💯 agree with you about grow bags. I think they’re probably better in cooler climates, but the sun wrecked some of mine in 1 season. Definitely thinking of planting in the ground and then take cuttings- just like you’ve recommended. And following the garden plan….. 🤦🏽‍♀️🤦🏽‍♀️🤦🏽‍♀️🤦🏽‍♀️🤦🏽‍♀️🤦🏽‍♀️🤣🤣🤣🤣

I use bamboo stakes because those green stakes have ridges on them that dig into the limbs or trunk when wind blows. Bro as a gardener you know you not gonna give up on growing those melons. You might take a break one season and attempt again, its not in our nature to stop. In my experience the ones i fail on either come back on its own or i gain success couple seasons out. Try growing it in shaded area.

Yes Yes Yes Broke...its not that you did something wrong on purpose...we all do. May I offer a little advice. Don't know how you feel about straw or leaf mulch over the wood chips after planting, but looks as if the soil is super dry, because there is no mulch covering your soil in this beating sun. No container plant or any planted open soil with no mulch for moisture, would stand a chance. Hope I didn't overstep.
