Makassar, Indonesia ➖ I was bored in my hotel room and decided I wanted to do Go Karting. I booked a ride and decided that it's more fun with friends. So. I got dropped off at Ramadan's store to see if he was there. He was, so we drove to the gokart track and had a fun afternoon.

Although his parent alrdy own a cart and selling for a living, he still tryna help the family by doing other job. The kid is a legend, and a representation for most kids who grew up in hardship around Asia. They always "forced" to be out of school and helping the parents makes a living. Govt should do better

when Ramadhan admitted he was 16 years old, he just didn't want to deal with the police. Moreover, there was an army car parked in front of the barber. What Ramadhan does is illegal and the police can confiscate the motorbike

I liked Ramadan when he followed you getting the hair cut and was thrilled when you featured him again today in a new episode - what a hero! (Amazed how he drives that bike with no rear view mirrors.) He sure does act very mature (no matter how old he is) and very self confident. It turns out that you can have a little friend to enjoy Makassar in another way. Interesting, bagus 👍 By the way, there are several children in Makassar like this Ramadan, they have dropped out of school since elementary school. I estimate he is 10 or 11 years old. Usually this is due to limited funds or the parents' level of education is also low so they think basic education is enough, for example being able to read and count, then parents usually prefer to invite their children to help work in shops or kiosks.

lots of Indian influence can be found in Indonesia even today. The name Indonesia means "Indian islands". picture of Lord Ganesha, one of the most popular deity in India was inscribed on the 20,000 rupiah note of Indonesia. Indian currency also called Rupiah in Hindi. Indonesian Airlines is called Garuda which is an Indian deity. lots of ancient Hindu and Buddhist temples getting unearthed in Indonesia. Yeah man, even most largest buddhist tample is borobudur which is in indonesia, crazy right 😅? The largest hindu temple in indonesia is prambanan was built before angkor wat and some people (based on inscription or not i forgot) said javawarman come here first before built angkor wat megastructure, and king of ayyathuya (old thailand before siam) also come here. (Maybe take some inspiration... idk) An european archeologist made a ship that immitate the ship in borobudur, along with indonesian ship maker. he successfully sail across ocean 😂❤. Based on portugese note, Java Ship (Jung) is like Giant vs goliath compare to the legendary galeon when face to face on battle of mallaca. Need atleast 3 bullets of canon to make an impact, but javanese canon is kinda obsolote compare to modern portugese canon at that time.

The video is in Makassar. A city in Sulawesi. And Sulawesi island was never hindu and buddhist before Islam. Hinduism existed in Java, Sumatra, and Bali. Never spread that far to Sulawesi

Sulawesi people in the past was animist, their religion called "Aluk" or "the way". Nowadays some people who lives in rural area still practice animism. For example Toraja people in northern part of south Sulawesi, Kaili people in central Sulawesi, and many more

@@newbabies923 I know, majority are, but some people, not much, usually elder are still animist, my great grandfather is a Torajan and he was an animist, he didn't convert to either Islam or christian, and at his KTP written Hindu because at that time (mid 90's) it's not recognized by the government. In university (Unhas) I also had a friend who was an Aluk (animist). She came from a village in Sidrap that still practice it, government was also recognize her religion as "Hindu" in her ID, but later changed to "aliran kepercayaan". Eventhough many people have been converted, but the ritual of the old religion still heavily practiced as part of culture.

That Go-kart place confused me too the first time i went there.. Just people wandering around. The second time i was with a translater so not as bad. @LukeDamant luke just want to clarify you've been mistaken about Ramadan age. When you were in moto car you asked his age he said he is 11. And when you asked the barbers because they obviously don't know English they were mistaken instead of eleven they said sixteen

Makassar is my home town, surely I will visit Ramadhan's place when I back home. Thanks for creating a fun day for him... I'm sure there's many like him in Makassar, as education nowadays more like a business. Back in my days in the 90-mid '00s basic education up to high school were free in Makassar, and school supplies ware cheap and we get books borrowed from school library. But, nowadys the rules changed according to politics and who got elected. 😢
