Metallica's experimental era (1991 to 2003) had a lot of diamonds in the rough, especially in the Reload and St. Anger albums. Reload has Devil's Dance, Slither, Low Man's Lyric (which almost has a Pink Floyd sound imo), Where the Wild Things Are. St. Anger has Frantic, Shoot Me Again, The Unnamed Feeling, Purify, and All Within My Hands.

For Raditude, I stick up for "If You're Wondering If I Want You To (I Want You To)." It's fun, it's bouncy, it doesn't take itself too seriously. Sure, the lyrics are a bit doofy, but I think you can get away with that on such a lighthearted track.

Fade In-Out is pretty average. Both All Around the World and It's Getting Better (Man) go on a few minutes too long, and All Around the World (Reprise) is cheesy and awful. The rest of the album's very good, though the mix is bad, all high end with no bass to it. I personally like Be Here Now best of their first three albums. I think it's desperately underrated, but I know I'm in a minority.

Totally agree. Definitely Maybe and (What's the Story) Morning Glory are amazing albums. Noel admitted to cracking under the pressure with this album, everyone expected it to be as good as the first two. I think it has some good songs, Stand By Me is definitely my favorite. Though as a whole it does sound kind of bloated with all of the guitar overdubs and crappy production. Their next album Standing on the Shoulder of Giants is much better than Be Here Now in my opinion.

I can't say much of Metallica, since I always found them rather cringy (and obsolete), but the band Enslaved had a similar drumming style on their 1997 album "Eld" which worked really well for the band and I really enjoyed. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/i9GXptWWlp-daas.html kzfaq.info/get/bejne/ecuUpsJiytaYdps.html Too bad that the band changed their style two albums later from (viking) black metal to something like psychedelic/stoner rock/progressive black metal. I'm not a fan of pretty much everything the band put out after Blodhemn.

@Dean Ponce it's not misunderstood. I can get behind the lyrics and emotions that went into the album as well as the change in style. What I can't tolerate is the drumming. The drumming alone makes the good songs harsh and tough to get through, and turns the lesser songs into unlistenable disasters.

For Anthrax's Volume 8, while I agree the full package leaves a lot to be desired, I'd make an argument for the hidden track, "Pieces." Far from Anthrax's usual sound, it's a ballad written and sung by Frank Bello, the bass player, about his brother who was murdered, and the gunman (to my knowledge) was never caught. It comes from a really earnest and devastating place, and given the knowledge of what inspired that song, it's among the more emotional listening experiences in metal.

Can't believe he didn't choose "D'you know what I mean" as the best song, a real rock anthem. But "All around the world" and others are so uselessly long (trying to create their "Hey Jude"s) that I didn't even finished to listen to the album. You can't try to mash up beat, hard / psych beat, post punk, and Sex Pistols... and do it with a prog length. Remains a popular album and fans still love the brothers, even if Oasis are no more on the top of Top albums ever lists as they were in '96-2000 Instead everybody snobs their last album, and they are missing some gems, the song "I'm outta time" is their successful try of creating something different and classic at the same time.

I actually like Be Here Now. It may be a little overproduced, and some of the songs could be a little bit shorter. But overall there's still great songwriting from Noel, and Liam sounds terrific. Speaking of Oasis, the following album Standing On The Shoulder of Giants (2000) could definitely be on this list. The only good song on that album is Gas Panic, which is absolutely brilliant, but the album as a whole is just... Boring!

That album has a special place for me personally. I'm pretty sure it was one of the first things that I found when looking for electronic rock artists in the vein of Pendulum, I also discovered Celldweller and number of others around that same time, many of which went on to become some of my absolute favorites. So glad the consensus is that Narcissistic Cannibal is the best song on the album. I listened to that song at least 100 something times back in High School, and it does hold up really well. The rest of the album also holds up pretty well in my opinion and is in my top 5 as well!

One of the few songs on that album to have any real energy from K.K. and Glenn (admittedly Painkiller was a VERY tough act to follow) and it's honestly the best Ripper ever sounded with Priest (outside of live albums). Honestly, i like "St. Anger" from Metallica (the album and the song), while i can understand everyone's criticisms about the album (such as the snare drum and the lack of solos), i personally think it's a really good album. I'm guessing you're gonna pick "Frantic" as the song from St. Anger and honestly, it's a good choice if you do, it's a great album opener and one of the few songs from St. Anger that even the people who dislike the album usually bring up as one of it's bright spots (other possible songs i could see are "St. Anger" or "Some Kind of Monster"). . (Also, here's my predictions for the other songs) "If You're Wondering if I Want You to (I Want You to) by Weezer (off of Ratitude because it's one of the albums in the thumbnail) "Better" by Guns N' Roses ("Chinese Democracy" is also one of the albums in the thumbnail, i probably would've picked "Shacklers Revenge" but "Better" is good too) "This is London" by The Clash ("Cut the Crap" album is in the thumbnail of course) "Insomnia" by Megadeth (off of "Risk", it's one of the songs he liked in his RTP review) "Someday Never Comes" by Creedence Clearwater Revival (off of "Mardi Gras", an album that is widely regarded as a stain on CCR's career) "Waiting for The End" by Linkin Park (off of "A Thousand Suns", it's one of the only songs he liked in his RTP review, wouldn't be suprised if he picks "The Catalyst" though) "Homecoming Queen" by Hinder (off of "Extreme Behavior" once again, song he liked on an RTP album) "Nuclear Family" by Green Day (off of "Uno!", part of Green Day's widely criticized "Uno!, Dos!, Tre!" trilogy, he also asked "what's the best song on the trilogy" in his discord server so it's probably safe to assume a song from one of those albums is making it on the list) "D'you Know What I Mean?" by Oasis (off of "Be Here Now" an album which most people say started the downfall of Oasis) "Take a Look Around" by Limp Bizkit (off of "Chocolate Starfish and the Hot Dog Flavored Water" luke said before in his RTP review that's it's the one Limp Bizkit song he could listen to for an hour straight and still be fine with it) "Better Place" by Puddle of Mudd (off of "Volume 4: Songs in the Key of Love & Hate", it's one of their PoM's more forgettable albums, i could also see "Stoned" or (if we're doing bonus tracks) i could see "Crowfeet" or "Shook up the World") i think it's fair to assume PoM will make the list in some capacity (due to the fact that luke dislikes them), other songs i could possibly see are "Control", "Drift and Die", "Think", or "Heel Over Head". . Well, those are some of my predictions, now to see if they come true or not!

Great list! I can add a couple: Helloween - 'First time' from the dissapoiting Chamaleon album: works for me as an openning track and then all goes down Incubus - 'In the company of wolves' from If not now, when? album: a lonely gem of a very dissapointing ambum Iron Maiden - 'Clansman' from Virtual XI album: a bad album from the poor Bayley's era. However, more than 20 years have passed and now with Dickinson on vocals, the band continues to play this song along with a long list full of hymns and heavy metal classics. Megadeth - 'Princess of darkness' of the Risk album: the name of the album says it all, Mustaine and company take the risk and fail. Anyway, this song take time to start, but it's a very solid tune!

I think Saint Anger mostly had decent to good songs. Production wasn’t great. But neither was DM or AJFA. And it mostly got hate for just being different. (Ironically from the “die hard” fans you made fun of who in fact, despise anything post AJFA to a toxic level, aside from sometimes DM) I’ve heard the same snare sound in countless metal bands and nobody says shit, a little bit of good mixing would make the album sound a hell of a lot better. But same can be said for those two albums as well. Personally I think Sweet Amber and TUF are the best songs on that album. St. Anger and Frantic are pretty good songs too. The rest feel more jam/rant like but that’s kind of what makes it great. It’s loose, it’s raw, in unapologetic (until lots of fan backlash anyways), and kinda groovy, and the songs kick ass live. Pretty relatable for a lot of us who struggle with stuff like mental health, to hear something so raw and “awful” sounding because of such emotions. Addiction, anger, self hatred, etc. it’s pretty rare in the music world to be captured so chaotically and ACCURATELY. Instead of some polished up song that doesn’t capture the raw emotion the same way. Emotions are imperfect, raw, chaotic, and that’s what St. Anger did. To me it’s a great album just muddled by poor production (just like DM and AJFA) and Bandwagon hate. My take on it anyways 🤷🏻‍♂️

To be honest I think Music To Listen To.... Has a few good moments - A Devastating Liberation is a good soundscape, and Tapes (however its spelled on the record) is still one of my goto experimental pop songs... It's just clogged with weird, unfinished pieces all over the "album"

I love Korn's songs Johnathan has such a wide vocal range and that microphone stand looks deadly like if he fell on it he'd either die or end up puncturing his lung

The last time I commented on one of your videos, you replied with "Sir, I'm going to have to ask you to leave this Wendy's" ...even though I disagree with a good chunk of what you think, I enjoy a different take....congrats on your continued success....Sir

Hot take: Vol.8 is my favorite of the four John Bush albums. Come on, it’s at least more memorable than Stomp 442.

"Sound of White Noise" is Anthrax's best and "Madagascar" off of "Chinese Democracy" is good too, IMHO.

Crazy Nights was one of the first two albums that I bought at age twelve. Loved it at the time. Today, I see it as an album bookended by a great Paul Stanley song and a good Gene Simmons song with a lot of filler in between.

About the Green Day trilogy albums, Billie Joe actually said that they were basically the creative process for one normal Green Day album. But instead of cutting any songs, they just finished and released everything. They said they don’t expect any individual fan to like most of the songs but to instead pick and choose which songs they DO like. Sort of a “create an album” for fans.

K.T. Cuffari yeah I just chose not to buy any of them. There was like 3 songs I liked on the three albums. They haven’t done much of note since 21st century breakdown.

The Unnamed Feeling is a true gem, but Frantic is my favorite track off the record. Easily one of their heaviest songs ever.
