The Orks in the Warhammer 40k universe get a lot of crap for big pretty dumb. just by looking at some of their wacky weapons, its difficult to take them seriously. but strangely enough...some of their creations are incredibly effective! from a weaponized teleporter to a gun that literally fires goblins, by launching them through hell and then at their enemies. these weapons are bizarre, hilarious and kind of amazing. lets take a look at 10 of the craziest Ork weapons that I could find.

Wes take yer technology and wes make it so much betta. Here watch this thingamajig. And that is when the techork whips out a literally duck taped together mix of a Tau Railgun and a Necron Annihator Beam that somehow fires Bolter rounds and leaves behind only the target's teeth

The fact that a pirate flying around on a moon, wearing a tricorn hat and a band T-shirt while talking like a soccer hooligan firing goblins through hell is just a thing that can happen is a big reason I love 40k, it's so very over the top and silly, it's great.\ Also when did Wes's avatar become a hyaena headed chaos marine? One bit of Lore I love is the Orks literally tried to put engines and a teleporter on Armageddon (Then Ullanor) and then the mechanicus used that tech to do just that and literally teleported the entire planet.

I think Ork equipment and weapons clearly show the difference between stupid and simple. The Orks are a simple race, drawing a straight line from A-B while the rest of the galaxy are wrestling with physics and biological limits etc... the Orks just ignore it. But that's one of the biggest errors enemies have when fighting them. They see that simplicity as stupidity and become complacent. Not the best idea when you have OddBoyz sat at the back tinkering with yet another new toy. Thanks for yet another fun, interesting and informative video Wes. Your enthusiasm and passion is contagious and you really have made your niche in the panoply of W40k Loremasters. Bravo 👏👏👏

Only because like half of the major players lost or couldn't use their most potent techs to crush the ork. Imperium still have some of Dark Age tech could help a lot but they couldn't mass produce it anymore especially after Horus Heresy destroy the Scientists and engineers on Terra while on Mars, Mechnicum were splited and much knowledg lost. Eldar: exodite had limited tech by choice, Craftworld had common techs on their own craftworld but the best stuff kept by Dark Eldar who couldn't use them as they need Psychic power banned in their Dark Realm

@@huntermad5668 That's all well and good, but when the power cell runs out on the Super Golden Age Laser of Mass Destruction, what use is it on the battlefield? Give it to an OddBoy, along with a tin of WD-40 (to make it moov), some duct tape (to make it stop moovin) and 5 minutes of covering fire and you've got yourself either a brand new warp plasma snotling cannon with super powered laser sights, or an extra large PowerPoint pointer/clicker. 😉 It might not be the Orks' heyday, but they definitely make sure that the rest of the galaxy are living in interesting times! 😁

I would absolutely love a 50k story where everyone is WIH levels of strong, Krorks, peak Necron, almighty Eldar, DAoT Humanity, the entire tyranid Hivemind, Chaos truly becoming undivided etc... And Tau I guess...

When you actually sit down and think about it, the Ork race are the Old One's _Magnum Opus:_ They're a race of near perfect bioweapons that works like a moving, self-sustaining ecosystem. Orks are born fully grown and battle-ready, which ensures reliable reinforcements without effort; Squigs provide everything from food to fuel to comodity items which massively simplifies logistics; Their DNA-coded knowledge means they have access to advanced technology no matter what and their latent psychic field makes them capable of salvaging any sort of enemy gear, no matter how primitive or advanced, and build veritable wonders out of literal scrap; And to top it all off, since they were designed from the ground up as living weapons, they're genetically coded to actually enjoy fighting with unrivaled passion and enthusiasm, so they're spared the trauma and PTSD that other races' warriors tend to suffer. And the best part? Modern Orks are a *degenerate and devolved* version of the Old One's creation. No wonder the Necrontyr decided to take a 65 million-year nap rather than keep fighting them.

one of my favorite weird weapons has always been the Eye of Gork (or was it Mork?). a shot could do anything from make your scalp itch to melt a baneblade into slag. there was no way to predict it

@@MidoriOfTheShuinsen I actually wrote up an ork character a few years ago who was an experimental human/ork hybrid who was permitted to join the Emperium, as basically a suicide trooper. The character was basically a Sister of Battle, which is surprising since I didn't even know that group existed at the time.

Some Ork/Squig history (I forget which edition of Warhammer 40k) but squigs were originally a Tyranid unit that was made based on Ork DNA 🧬 Tyranids used after they ate their first Orks. Eventually later Orks ran into squigs and recognized their Orkiness within them and the Squigs instantly liked Orks (refusing to fight and eat them, basically rolling over for belly rubs) , thus Orks adopted the Squigs within the Ork family. From then on Tyranids stopped using them and stopped using Ork DNA 🧬 in making new types of units while Squigs ended up being continued to be created by Orks and Tyranids stopped making Squigs.

The Orks almost destroyed and capitulated the Imperium during the War of the Beast...the bigger and stronger they get, the smarter they get as well. Most orks don't reach the heights of intelligence due to their lifespans being cut short by in-fighting, but the Beast was the closest the orks got to a renewed Krork, no doubt.

Yay for adding Bubble Chucka ... my favourite weaponry in the whole setting! In previous editions I had an army list, I never built it off Virtual Machines, consisting of as many Bubble Chucka as possible. The concept was a little bit of a meta game, for at the time each chucka had a 'variable stat line' that required a complex roll off method. One which which even allowed your opponent some say over the stat line, so you can be assured that 1 you roll is going into power or number of shots. After about two rounds of rolling three times as many dice as normally required... opponents would look at me in disgust. I didn't break the list out often, it was simply designed to laugh at the bubble chucka being so ... random! But imagine a 2000 point game, where your opponent has only a handful of models that are not chucka...

See I used to use bubble chukka dragstas in the old epic. They worked very different then. You would put a bubble token at random on your target. It didn't do anything until the enemy unit fired. Then you flip the token and 1 in 4 chance it was a solid bubble. This ment what ever they shot it bounced back and hit itself. I loved firing it at shadow swords and daring them to fire.

My favorite on the list is the bubblechukka. I love the lore where a bubble the size of a house could only hit as strong as a slap, but a bubble the size of a golf ball could blow a tank in half. My favorite not on the list is the zzap gun. It's an energy cannon that shoots for as long as the button is held down. Since there's no guarantee the gretchin manning the zzap gun can hold the button down reliably the power can range from chipping paint all the way to punching holes in tanks.

To be fair, no limit has ever been placed on what they can and cannot do. So I think that orks can in fact do whatever they damn well please, it's just that beyond a certain point,it takes a whole lot of orks. Like the beast's WAAAGH! The tankhammer existed for the Volkssturm. It was a handle with a mortar grenade glued to it. Very hard to google though, as it was not very widely popular weapon (though Orks would find it hilarious).

The Japanese also had grenades on a pole designed in case of an assault on mainland Japan during World War II. The planned use for these was terrifying - Japanese partisans would hide in heavy vegetation, often in shallow water near landing sites, and simply throw their entire body weight into it, setting it off and causing massive damage to landing craft, light tanks, and unarmored vehicles, while likely dying in the process. It was plans like these that military officers at the time (and many historians) claim justify the use of the atomic bombs to end the war.

Check out the sticky bomb the British developed for WW2, it used strong adhesive to stick to tanks. It was originally not approved for use until Churchill stepped in and pushed it through. It had a habit of sticking to users clothing if they weren't careful or falling off dusty/muddy tanks.

Also when you think about it a Rok is also an amazing piece of Biological warfare, because when that thing makes contact with the planets surface, even if the Orks within don't survive, that impact is going to violently spread Ork Spores throughout the entire atmosphere, so that planet is already lost, it's just a case of when...

new tech isnt that much as heresy as just takes a long time to do. The tech priests had no qualms about trying to reverse engineer the attack moons teleporting technology.

The idea of a inventing something new implies you have created something divine, you have usurped the machines spirit's will by inventing something only the divine omnisia should create. Obviously you have more conservative and more progressive members of the ad mech but I'm pretty sure making something new is offensive to the machine spirit.

@@punkhippe yes. they just go around it by saying "the omnissaya showed it to me in a dream" and boom done. The treick is athe amount of testing they have to do and the infrastructure to mass produce anything needs to be built. Things like dreadnaughts, rhino and Leman Russ chassies, land raiders and the like were all invented by the mechanicus. The biggest issue probably is thatt they dislike sharing information between eachother

I am too! When I first saw it the art style it kind of turned me off for like a second, and then I was like oh my God this looks and feels exactly like Warcraft 3 did way back in the early 2000s! And then I was immediately on board 😅 as far as the developers go I don't actually know that. It would make a lot of sense but I'd have to do a little bit of research to confirm or deny.

It's worth remembering before I watch this that Orks don't necessarily get to choose their "upgrades". If the boss hands you a weapon, you carry that weapon as long as he is alive. And as far as visiting the Dok? Good luck with that, hopefully it's a useful implant

Man, i remember the Shokk cannon in older editions, it was hilarious! If you hitted, you rolled on a list with two dices, and depending on the roll, anything could happen. The funniest ones i remember are the one where you teleported the mek in hand to hand combat with the target, and the double 6, in which a warp rift full of demons appeared, so the target and everyone near was hitted hard.

In 2nd edition, if the center of the blast template was wholly within an enemy vehicle the Snots would then fight in melee with the crew. The tank could do nothing else until the crew managed to clean up their vehicle, and if the Snots actually won (unlikely against Space Marines but a very realistic possiblity against Imperial Guard), the tank was automatically considered destroyed.

Supposedly they actually use these! When I was making this video I was digging through lists of every type of weapon ever used by the orc whether it be from super old editions of the game or the various RPG systems that have come out over the years. And molotovs were definitely a thing! I almost included them but they didn't have anything about them that made them orky or weird. They were just molotovs, so I left it off

Things I've learned in this video: - Orks have a great and practical naming sense - Size matters when using rocks as a weapon (the bigga the betta!) - Orks are so dumb they end up being smart (with the help of the "I believe it works therefore it works" effect) - Orks are awesome and hilarious

Every time there is talk of da boyz, I dream of a game about being a warboss and building your own clan to WAAAAAGH! over the galaxy. Start out with feral orks, get basic shoota and choppa boyz, eventually get access to mekz, and all the fun shit that you hear about. A good AA ork game would be a dream. Blood Gunz & Teef is a decent start.

Always found the Shok Attack Gunz to be strangely ingenius despite the absolutely ridiculous way it works. As for my favourite weapon in the 40k universe it's a difficult choice between the T'au Railguns (Cause rail guns are AWESOME) and the Eldar Distort Cannons. Actually, I'd love it if you made a similar video on either the Eldar or the Tau. The Eldar weapons are surprisingly scary sometimes, and the Tau weapons are just really cool.
