I used to work in a hospital as a transporter. When transporting the body from it's bed to the metal morgue stretcher, the persons head makes a hard banging sound. So I tried putting a pillow on the metal before transferring the lady. When she reached our stretcher and the pillow she made a demonic sounding groan THAT SCARED THE SHIT OUT OF ME. The other transporter I was with and I though she was still alive, and got the nurse. It turns out it was just the woman releasing air.

Jolene Lilly I read once that when small planes flown by bush pilots had to fly bodies out for burial, sometimes the bodies would sit up and groan because of the gases and change in air pressure! Aahh!

I grew up in a house that had been built as a funeral home 100 years ago. The things that we would see and hear were unbelievable! The creepiest thing though was when my dad was renovating, and after taking down some paneling, found a staircase up to a room that was full of ancient embalming equipment.

My sister had a miscarriage and ten years later, her son visited me in a dream. I was painting the back of a stage and this kid came on the stage and told me his name was Lucas and said "Say hi to my mommy!". He said he was the first of two. I didn't know who this kid was or why he was telling me to say hi to his Mommy. He also said he was with his Dad. His Dad passed too! It wasn't until I woke up and asked myself who the hell is Lucas then it hit me and it hit me hard. I just started balling. My sister had another kid after him so he was the first of two. My daughter was going to graduate in two weeks and I think the stage was him telling us that he is around and knows whats going on in our lives. I told my sister and she said that she was thinking about him lately. She said how old did he look and I said about ten, not knowing his age and she said ya, he would have been next month. That was seven years ago. My other sister recently told me that her son had and dream and told her about it. Some boy named Lucas was wanting to hang out with him. He didn't know anything about him until he told him mom the story and it clicked for her.

seeya206 ,15 years ago I miscarried what should had been my 3rd of 5 children and later that night had a vision of 3 children in front of a row of school buses. Not only was the vision true they were standing in the order they were born. 1st was my 2yr old,the another daughter, then last but not least my son. I rarely ever show emotion but writing this caused the tears to flow.

My great-grandmother was laid out for her wake at her home. While everyone was going through the line to pay their respects, she sat straight up. It scared the crap out of everybody. It was caused from the muscles and ligaments in her hips contracting. Kinda makes you glad that we have morticians that take care of that now.

A friend and I were asked to perform some comfort music at the funeral of my pastor's friend's mother about 10 years ago. A little while after my friend and I were done with our first song, during some people sharing memories, an elderly woman standing near the back collapsed... and it turns out that she had died almost immediately. Even though I believe God takes us Home when we die, a loved one dying is still utterly sad - no matter how old or ill - and it was shocking for me and my friend (neither of us knew the immediate family or any of the extended family), and I imagine those who were closer to the deceased - both of them - were quite traumatized.

There was a funeral of a young girl in my town a few months ago. I knew her so I view her coffin with my friends and we all noticed that she looked very different from how we remembered. Came to find out the funeral home got her's and another young girl's bodies mixed up and transported them to different places. They still buried the unknown girl in or town and the girl we knew in another. First time I ever experience something like that.

I personally believe, Matt, that the deceased can communicate with the living in their own way. My dad died nearly two years ago, and on the day of the funeral, after we'd buried him and had the wake (in Australia the wake is just a reception after the funeral rather than a viewing), we were at my mum and dad's place and I was just about to go back to my house, when I went to hug my mum. Behind her for about two seconds, was a partial apparition of my dad, from the neck down to the bottom of the torso, wearing his old blue thermal top and yellow singlet. I didn't say anything until the next day because I thought I was going nuts from grief. But mum said she felt him behind her at that time too. Love your work Matt!!

This happened during my nanny's viewing, while I was sobbing hysterically (I was close with my nanny) I smelt her perfume & it may have been me just seeing things or I may have actually seen her. But I saw her close by looking around my age (I was 18 at the time) & she gave me a nod & a thumbs up before vanishing. Call me crazy, but I still think to this day that that was actually her reassuring that she's ok & happy in heaven with my grandfather, who died when i was 11

Word of advice, if one of your loved ones dies, please just leave the moving of the body to the mortician. When my cousin's grandma died, the whole family gathered around to pay their respects. She lay there peacefully in bed with her head to the side. Well when the daughter stepped out for a moment, the sister of the deceased felt the need to "correct" grandma's head so it sat straight and not to the side. She wanted to do this before rigor mortis set in. So as she's adjusting the head, the grandma's jaw fell open as if in a silent scream. The sister kept trying to close the mouth but it just wouldn't stay closed and despite her efforts, she couldn't get grandma's head to stay straight either. You can imagine the horror the daughter must have felt when she came back to find her mother's body in a different position...and to have that as your last memory with your loved one is just terrible...

Erin Delic Have you ever watched “Ask a Mortician”? People can prepare bodies to be at home, or even arrange for a death doula, a person trained to help a family. Handkerchiefs used to be tied around the bottom of the dead’s jaw and then in front of the ears to the top of the head......

The other day near my house a blocked line at a nearby funeral home caused blood, mixed with embalming fluid and formaldehyde, to leak from the undertaker’s storage tank onto the streets. I was walking down the street and blood was just everywhere, smelled quite horrid too. I had no idea what was going on so I was a little freaked out. It looked like a massacre occurred, minus the bodies. It was pretty disgusting, but the leak only lasted 20 minutes.

Ohhhh Matthew, being a Mortician isn't creepy for the people who choose to do the job. As a palliative care worker, I have been there many times when people have passed on, and was there when both of my parents died. Death is part of life, and the people who choose to work with the bodies we leave behind aren't creeped out. The stressful part is dealing with the people who have lost their loved one.

I was present at both my sister's and my brother's deaths. Missed my mom's death by about 45 minutes. And my dad was in a nursing home when he died. We don't have funerals in my family (except for my brother's and father's free military funerals). I have it on good authority that my family's spirits are enjoying themselves in the afterlife, doing the things they liked to do in life. This makes me not so apprehensive about my own death!

My mum passed away this year, and the funeral was normal and beautiful. I came home before the rest of my family after the wake as I just wanted some alone time. About 2 hours after me being home i heard her voice twice , foot steps and my dogs started barking at her old chair. I've never had another incident like that before or after. On one hand I'm glad I haven't but I would love to she her.

*Number Three: When that balloon reached the mother and she reached out and patted the string and made gestures as if to hold someone, my heart broke. 💔 When the balloon circled around her and tapped her shoulder (like a comforting pat from a hand, or a gesture of comfort such as a head on the shoulder of another), I burst into tears. 😢 As the balloon circled further and the mother was speaking to her child and reaching to embrace him, I could no longer see the video as I was sobbing for all I was worth!😭*

I enjoy your videos, and I like this one as well. However I must say that my family has been in the funeral and coroner business for a century. I even lived on the top floor of one of our funeral homes for 20 years, and I never witnessed any spirits. Neither had anyone else that visited. Funeral homes are the last place you'll find lingering spirits.

christine paris I can't say for sure but my belief, and my families belief is that they never lived there, or died there. And we don't keep bodies more than a few days in most cases, so they are just waiting at their place of death until they get to their final resting place.

Well done, Matthew, I've just come across your site, and plan to binge-watch some more! You have got an excellent narration voice and don't make it too sensationalised, "gossipy" or otherwise (as I've heard some others narrate) grating on the nerves and listening. Keep up the fantastic work! In regards to your #9 bit, I went to my grandmother's funeral after she had a heart attack. On the day of the open casket funeral, I walked up with my father (I was still very young at the time), I paid my last respects when I heard a soft "ohhhhhhHHhhhHHHhhh" come from my grandmother. My father who stood with me at the time heard it too, and when I said "should we tell Mom? (as it was her mother)" he quietly and calmly replied, "No, there's no need to disturb her further". It's a secret we've shared since then. So, I can attest to #9 happening....
