but no one answered your question, when the ball bounces in there, then you can step in and hit it. You can step in it any time you want, but you can't hit the ball while in there until it bounces. If you stepped in early, the other team would just peg you with the ball and they'd get a point since you can't touch the ball in there until it bounces so no one goes in there until after the bounce or if they are running through it to hit the ball on the side of the court, but even then they usually jump the corner just to be safe.

Question, why don’t the players just rip a forehand after it bounces 1 time. It seems like everyone hits it soft or puts backspin on the ball. They only hit it hard when they are volleying it back and forth. I’m a tennis player and would like to start playing pickle ball.

Im Canadian, but I live in Mexico during the winters..well I've actually lived in Mexico since covid, but thats not the point. Last week a few of us decide to drive from Cabo to this hidden waterfall in the east capes..its about a 2 hour drive from Cabo. We go see it, pretty cool, head back towards "town", Los Barilles. This place is literally a one horse town, anyway, we stop and have a late lunch and we overhear some people talking about the new pickleball facility that got built. It's the middle of april in the baja, 3 pm, sun was absolutely scorching..like who in their right mind would be playing pickleball when they could be on the beach right? So we stop in to check it out...place is PACKED. 12 courts filled with 4 people each, and most courts had people waiting for next game. Just today Im walking the dog down the marina, theres a construction sign, city is planning on putting in 8 pickleball courts. What am I getting at? I dont really know..Ive just noticed this sport a lot lately..seems to be getting quite popular..maybe Ill even try it one of these days.

I went to to Tuscon for 11 days last winter. One public court had 12 brand new, individually fenced -in courts, which were placed where there used to be 6 tennis courts. All 12 courts were in used every morning, with between 12 and 32 people waiting. Many skilled players. Great way to start the day. In Ithaca NY, we play all summer by setting up portable nets on either side of three tennis courts, where P-Ball lines are painted on top. On nice days, all 6 courts are taken and maybe a dozen players waiting. Mostly seniors. The younger players come at night. There is an indoor facility in the winter, and a dozen of the surrounding towns have indoor facilities as well. One farmer, out in a beautiful valley, has four courts built in his pole barn, and people play there a few times a week, but there's no heat....I entered my first tournament recently and won! 12 teams, mixed doubles, 3.5...but moving up to 4.0....I played a lot of tennis and ping pong..still do. Who would have thought I'd be an athlete at 68?

Can someone explain to me why in some doubles matches, one player will be covering almost the entire court while their partner is shoved into a 2' corner? Meanwhile right on the other side of the net, both partners seem to be covering exact halves of the court? I still do not get how this can be called a sport. It looks off. Not saying it can’t be fun, but I’ll stick to padel or tennis.

They never heard of Padel in the US ??? What nonsense is this ?

What the hell is even this...? XD Why are people coming up with more and more noob-friendly racket sports all of the sudden? It's like the people who can't play tennis suddenly wants to feel sporty so they just make up their own sport that they can actually play.

Pickleball has been around since the 60's, so not a new sport just more popular now. It's a fun game, good exercise and very social.

I play tennis, ping pong and pickleball. Tennis is difficult to learn. Pickleball is easy to learn. Easier than ping pong. It's popular among seniors because it's a little easier on the body than tennis. Also, you can just show up and play. You don't have to organize four people, schedule days in advance,, and commit to the full length of time. You just go to the park anywhere between 830-noon. You wait a few minutes, and you step into a game. You play for 10-15 minutes, and then you play another game with another combination. Then you sit for a few minutes, then another game......until you've had enough. No changeovers. Great socializing. If you want to get more serious, you enter a tournament or do drills. Maybe take a lesson. P-BAll is generally cheaper than tennis (except the tournaments, they can be expensive! but many are reasonable) You can play in your driveway. Just get some chalk and rig up a net. It's easy to learn, but more difficult to master...not as difficult as tennis, though.

The non volley zone and two bounce rule makes learning the short game a must. All negative posters need to try it before being so critical.

Stupid is like calling a sport American Football and all they do is run all over the field carrying a ball, ahhh you're carrying the ball with your arms, why football? Morons! And it's not even a ball, it's an oblong shaped, bouncing rubber thingy. Pathetic!
