Even though fat bikes were originally designed for riding on unstable terrains - mud, sand or snowy roads - today this type of transport can be seen on modern city streets where road conditions are near perfect. The popularity among average riders is caused by the versatility of this bike class and, of course, very attractive visual designs.
Modern fat bicycles are usually offered with an electric powertrain, which makes them even more attractive for those, who want to ride for longer distances, while spending less time and physical energy. Considering the main purpose of this class of ebikes and the fact that these may be eventually used during overlanding and camping trips, some manufacturers are equipping their e-bicycles with massive lithium-ion battery packs that could provide close to 80 miles of continuous riding on throttle power or over 100 miles with a pedal assist systems engaged.
