Which Laundry Detergent Do You Use - Liquid, Powder, or Packs?

Powders are AWFUL on septic systems ESPECIALLY if you also use them in your dishwasher.

@@sandym340 For 35+ years my dad used powdered Tide and powdered Cascade in the dishwasher and never had a septic issue. Maybe it's the newer stuff on the market today. I use packs now instead of powdered and so far no issues.

I am curious Does anyone have a comment on the laundry sheets. They supposedly dissolve into the laundry. The savings is three-fold: >less bulk and weight because there is no water in them >no giant plastic jug to put into the landfill >no soap residue in the dispenser cup

If you hang your towels to dry instead of dumping them into the hamper/basket then they won't stink. Also keep the washer door/lid open when not being used

Yes and Definitely yes...butttt. make sure a nosy (or one that likes to hide) cat or such can't get trapped in there so lay a longish board or such across the agitator and extending so if lid does get flipped down, your pet has a better change of being able to push it up and get out. (handy, esp if u r not home)

I haven't had to iron for years, I hang the clothes right out of the dryer, spray it with water and give it a little tug and I dont need to iron it. I also fold the clothes as it comes out of the dryer that saves me steps relocating to fold and ironing. Zipping up zippers helps to protect your clothing as well😁

A couple of years ago during a really dry summer we would direct our rinse / spin cycles to a container to use on the grass & garden. We had been using a recommended dose of laundry detergent & were shocked at how "sudsy" the water was. We cut the amount of detergent for each load in half, still resulted in clean laundry & saved on purchase of supplies.

I'm liquid detergent all the way. I'm rather meticulous about the way I separate laundry (my family says crazy...I like meticulous better). My sorting looks something like this: 1) warm wash (underwear, socks, etc) 2) reds, pinks, purple, orange 3) blue, green 4) black, grey 5) white, cream 6) jeans 7) towels 8) microfibers. Now because I separate things so much, sometimes I have pretty small loads. Because of this, I like the convenience of being able to really adjust the amount of detergent I use. I love doing laundry! 💖

Hi Melissa, so I'm a liquid gal but am trying to switch to the sheets, you're Canadian so I'm sure you've heard about "True Earth". For sure the laundry sheets are fab for traveling. Concerning stinky washers, I'm assiduous in wiping down my machine after my wash day but also cleaning my washer every 3 months, since we’re only 2 (if your a family of 4 or more, it should be done monthly). I have a friend that's an appliance repair guy and he gave me this recipe (funny, I'm maybe giving you a homemade recipe, weird). You throw these ingredients directly in your washer, not mixed together…1 cup white vinegar & 1/2 cup baking soda and start your machine on "Clean Washer" cycle or a short cycle. IAlso, in my case once a year, I do the heavy-duty clean and this is 1 cup bleach & 1/2 cup baking soda on the same cycle. He also says concerning the detergent drawers should be well cleaned every time you do these clean-ups…if needed get the old toothbrush out and clean. And yes, do always leave the door and the detergent drawer also open. So my last suggestion is the problem of clothes lying around since you judge you can wear them again - fixed that problem! My hubby and I each have a place for us with two hooks; mine is behind the bedroom door and my husband’s is in a small free wall space in our closet. You want to wear your kit another day, 1 hook for your pants, 1 hook for your top - problem solved! Hope this helps you out, and all you out there that are struggling like us all 😊

I made my own powdered detergent, but my hubby will only use liquid. I recently bought detergent sheets and love them! Hubby still wont use them, though! LOL! I've always used Lestoil for greasy stains (Dad used it on his work clothes as he was an HVAC tech). Oxyclean is a nice boost and is amazing if you want to soak really dirty clothes in a bucket/bin. A couple years ago I learned about using hot water on a fresh blood stain. You rinse the stain under hot running water. WOW did it work well! Old stains, maybe not, but I was surprised. My family uses cold water almost exclusively, as well as gentle cycles. We hang our clothes inside mostly (pollen allergies) but towels and sheets get hot water and the dryer. I finally convinced Hubby that he doesn't need to wash every piece of clothing every time he wears it. Unless he's sweating or it gets dirty, just hang it to "air out" (he's OCD so it took a while). He realizes that his clothing lasts longer when he does this! 💕

For static, this really helps: Take a sheet of aluminum foil, wad it up together into a ball, about golf ball size and keep it in your dryer till it gets ratty. I also use the wool balls and have a little silicone thing to help with pet hair. The plastic balls did not help with static but the aluminum ball does.

Laundry powder person I am 😁 What I'd like to know is how do I clean caked-on washing powder residue off the detergent tray? I've tried a million different things and none of them work.

Liquid. And the detergent is automatically measured by the machine. Only special loads like wool get manually done.

I need to get some dryer balls, I hate when I fold my laundry and get to my sweater, it's so static-y and I always end up having to shock myself in either the dryer door when i close it or the doorknob. 😭😭 I don't want to keep shocking myself

I personally feel like I get more out of liquid than packets. I would prefer powder over anything else but since the price of power has skyrocketed I use powder. Thanks for your videos

I use liquid laundry detergent. It's costs less per load vs. Pods.

We use liquids and powders. Towels should never smell, neither should the machine, just do a hot cycle with extra rinses now and then. It`s when we get too enthusiastic about saving water and energy, or overfill the machine things go wrong. Quick cycles are not for full loads of dirty laundry. Hacks are nice and a must some times, but the basic should be simple and work too.

Do you have a video on how to get your white sheets white again? I have an old basic washer at my apartment so no detergent drawer.

I was told that vinegar in a front loader can damage the seals so I have not used any in mine. I do liquid because I normally do larger loads and it takes more packs to do those. I don't mind loading the liquid into mine.

Hi can you show me how you clean the inside of that gasket from the washing machine? For some reason I always always have mold, mildew and gunk, and I always spray it and let it sit with vinegar in and it’s just always dirty.
