In the off season, I thought it might be fun to try and find out some interesting facts, information and trivia about FPL.
From the beginnings of Fantasy Premier League, Fantasy Team and Fantasy sports in England, to the rule changes including the original chips, the All Out Attack chip, former winners including Graeme Haddow and Ben Crabtree, highest scoring players from previous seasons, lowest ever score, highest ever score, FPL bugs, FPL glitches, best ever FPL managers such as Magnus Carlsen and Hjalmar Ekdal... and much, much more!

Hi Dan, here are some ideas, some of which might make interesting videos. 1. The merits and disadvantages of auction and draft league. Any tactics. 2. What was the best era in which to be a football fan? 3. Fantasy legends from before fantasy football existed. Also how would various current players have fared in a different era? 4. Rank other European leagues for standard and watchability. 5. How would you revise the football calendar and tournament structures domestically and internationally? How would you change the broadcasting arrangements and kick off days/ times/ months? 6. A look ahead to the World Cup: What are the groups/ knockout paths. What are the stadia, the facilities for fans (or lack of), how have preparations gone? What's your attitide towards them having it and it being in the winter and has that changed?

You know some players do play anti fantasy when you should get lowest score? Captain Bednarek for that gameweek made sense then and one might have taken it one step further with TC. Otherwise to TC Bednarek vs Man United away is quite mad. Although with 9 million people there is always someone.

great stuff. thanks! Its Especially good stuff for people like me who don't know anything about the history of the game. I'm not surprised to see that the growth rate has been huge during the past 4 years. Fans of American Football have a much higher participation rate in fantasy American football - nearly 40 million people in the USA play fantasy football, out of a population of only 320 million (i.e 12% of the entire population, not just the population that actually watches football). Fantasy Football can continue to grow at a fast pace for many years - if the participation rate were equal to the participation rate for american football, wouldn't there be 50 million to 100 million players?

We used to play Fantasy League where you have an auction, always did it on charity shield day took hours and lots of alcohol was consumed. We did it for years but it got too expensive in the end

There is no transferable skill between chess and FPL, except maybe risk management. Maybe also analysing the right details.

Suggestion for a future trivia video: how does FPL make money? They only have a little bit of advertising on their site, and users don't pay a fee. They provide a huge economic benefit for the league and the broadcasters that carry the games by getting people interested in the league and bringing in tons of extra viewers for games that they otherwise might not watch. I wonder if they receive any payments from the premier league? Or the broadcasters?
