One of the best radios money can buy. I have used and tested a lot of different high end rigs. A ftdx5000 is the only radio that has a better receiver than the ftdx3000. I also did a lot of side by side tests comparing my ftdx3000 to a new Elecraft k3. The Yaesu's receiver does a much better job receiving weak signals in high noise, contest environment. The Yaesu' RX is aslo noticeably quieter with a much better audio quality.

I am a happy recipient of a gently used ftdx3000. Before diving into the sdr hookup ideas, I'm working on trying to improve on the factory default receive settings. I did change the contour setting from the default -14 or so to a +16, Which has made a world of difference. I'm just wondering if you gentlemen with experience on this rig can recommend other settings and also whether you normally operate with the contour on or off. Thank you very much. How does receiving audio from the SDRplay compare to that of the FT DX 3000?

Would it matter if you connected the SDRPlay to the IF out of the FTDX-3000 instead of the RX out and what difference would it make? 73 VK5MTM

Blimey can't believe no one responded to your question in over 3 year's..you probably already know the answer. It would be far better to use the IF out phono Jack than the RX out one, the IF one allows you to use all the radios front end filtering unlike the RX out which is raw RF straight from the Antenna change over relay without any of the radios brilliant front end and filtering.. All you have to do is setup the SDR software to receive on the IF frequency. Greetings from down under from you Liverpool UK.👍😊

What is the name of the SDR software you are using with this setup?? Phil-K2PJR

+TonruNomad Hi Phil, sdr-radio.com/ , it is available free of charge for hobby users such as radio amateurs and shortwave enthusiasts. HDSDR would work as well. 73

@FrankZosso8 жыл бұрын

Danke.
