I'd say that's more improbable, than impossible. If a player is on teams that make the World Series 11 times over the course of his career and each Series goes 7 games, then that's 77 games right there. It's unlikely to happen, but certainly not impossible.

While Ted Williams was the last player to hit .400 in a season, the modern record for single season batting average is .424 by Rogers Hornsby. That is almost certainly safe.

By the way 3 homers in an inning has been done, albeit in the minor leagues a player named Gene Rye smacked 3 in the Texas League for the Waco Cubs in 1930. He did make it up to the Redsox briefly in 1931.

Rickey might be THEE most underrated player in history. He was without question a walking triple. You couldn't really pitch to him, he was the absolute greatest leadoff hitter, if you walked him, he was on third base usually on the third pitch. He shook up the opposition to no end. He was incredibly explosive and great to watch

Yeah, Ty Cobb has always been my favorite player of all time ever since I was a little kid. Just the way he approached(I suppose "attacked" would be a more fitting word) the game, such as how aggressive he was on the bases. As a kid, all the way up through high school(when I quit playing) I was _constantly_ stealing bases, trying to force errors by the pitcher or catcher, taking huge leads, etc. As someone who played catcher, and sometimes pitcher(I was never a very good pitcher),I knew how annoying that can be. I also love how he could just put the ball wherever he wanted("hit 'em where they ain't" as the saying goes.) Did you ever hear that story about reporters asking him about(I think) Babe Ruth and all the home runs he would hit? Cobb responded by saying, "you want to see how easy it is to hit home home runs? I'll show ya" and proceeded to hit like 6 or 7 homeruns in 3 games(I forget the exact statistic) and then told the reporters he was going back to his normal hitting style. Oh, and his .367/.366 lifetime batting average is another record that will never be broken.

He was unintentionally walked 2,190 times and another 61 times intentionally. He was only caught stealing 335 times in a 25 year career, his single season high was 42 the year he stole 130 bases. He led off an inning with a walk 796 times. A statistical fact that should blow your mind: Henderson played roughly 4 1/2 seasons(596 games)for the Yankees and became their club leader in steals. It took Derek Jeter from his rookie year in 1996 until May 28, 2011 to break Henderson's mark.

Gerrit Cole led the majors with 326 K last year. If we allow that Sale averages that total every year (even though his career high is 308 and he only has 2 seasons of at least 240), he would need almost 11.5 seasons to pass Ryan. Since 2020 is going to be 1/3 season at best and 2021 could very well be cut short as well, Sale would have to pitch until he was 43/44 just to have a shot. And that assumes he will have kept his velocity on his fastball and the bite on his slider, even though he has started to loose both in recent seasons.

I would also add in the factor of small market vs. big market teams. As long as there is no reserve clause, the richer teams will more likely snag the more talented high priced free agents. The Yankees won't ever finish last. And teams like the Marlins and Mariners will lose their best players as soon as their contracts expire.

We still have a few teams that have been in MLB for 40+ years and have never won a World Series: the Brewers, Expos/Nats, Mariners, and Padres. Heck the Nats and Mariners have never even been to the WS.

But he also played (MLB record) in 8,243 consecutive innings without sitting out (June 1982 to September 1987). Second on the list is George Pinckney who played in the 19th century. He's 3112 innings behind Ripken!

Jim Rice of Boston red Sox was intentionally walked 77 times in his 16 year career. Barry bonds was intentionally walked 77 times in may /June of 2002

I'm not 100% certain that statistics will back this up, but in some situations walking a power hitter with the bases loaded can make sense strategically. The team that walked Bonds with the bases loaded had a two-run lead in the ninth, where a hit would likely tie or lose the game. So, the other team gambited a run by walking Bonds, figuring they still win if they get the next batter out.
