That intro was amazing, you made that guitar sound like a masterbuild! It's also in the technique, tone is in the fingers, the attack, soft hard and medium. I received my Harley Benton télé TE62 DB and this is my final guitar and I will upgrade the pick ups with Bootstraps and brass saddles. Then I will work on my technique.

I’ve got the blue one and you’re right about the pickups. Neck too dark and bridge too bright, or rather harsh. But I guess that can be worked around by dialing in your amp. I usually have the pickup selector in the middle position.

Great review! I own 2 Harley Benton T-style guitars. The Fusion HH with the quilted maple top and Wilkinson trem is absolutely amazing especially for the price point. It’s become my #1 guitar over my Fender Strats and Teles and Gibson Les Paul. These are great guitars for the money!

The problem with this guitar is that I never play my more expensive guitars anymore. Therefore this tele is a waste of money! How's that for irony?? I love the radius of the neck. It's chunky but not uncomfortable. The neck pickup is too dark but both pickups or the bridge pick up are fine and it takes pedals really well. It stays in tune really well. I lowered the action a little and bought decent strings. Beginner guitarists are so lucky now. Back in the day I started playing on a Hondo Les Paul copy. Terrible piece of crap. You've never had it so good.

I agree with everything here Colin ! Beginner guitarists are indeed incredibly lucky nowadays ! Ohh Hondo & Hondo II ahaha, I remember these ! When did you start playing ? Back in the 80s ? Between incredibly comfortable cheap guitars and great little practice amps/FX units nowadays, it's really perfect for beginners yes !

@@JohanJoosLaur Hi Johan I had a few basic lessons on acoustic guitar when I was about 10, then took up electric guitar back in the mid 80s as a teenager. I only knew very basic shapes but started a band. We got to support a few bands that had got into the lower reaches of the charts or indie charts at a great little club which attracted some well known bands. We were rubbish, or at least I was. Looking back, I was the weak link but I was prepared to be the front man and sing. You Tube has been a game changer as I have now learnt to play pretty well through you tubers lessons. There are some great guitar teachers out there. It's a great time to play an instrument. Unfortunately too few kids seem interested in rock music these days. Anyway, keep up the good work.

I have a Harley Benton R446 which has very flat radius too so it wouldn't be a problem for me. In fact I love the flat radius on that. I use that guitar for metal, it has D'addario EXL117s and in C standard. I'll be ordering one of these for more classic vibe and songs and gonna pop 9s on it. Thanks for the vid.

Got one couple months ago and it became my main, replaced 650€ Yamaha Revstar. I love the clarity of the tone. About the fretboard -radius, for me, is fantastic. A while ago I wanted a Fender Tele, but hated the neck so much, I got mega upset since I love tele tone. I got this one basically as a decoration and to br played at home here and there. But the first time I plugged and started playing - it felt so natural, like I've been playing it for years. I am mainly 628 scale player, but for some reason I can play way faster on this cheap tele. I don't, maybe I love it so much because it was extremly cheap. These things however are subjective. But what is objective and somewhat annoying con on this guitar are saddle screws. They're way too long, stick out quite a bit and are sharp. If you rock too hard, you risk a nasty injury. HB PB50 (bass) has the same problem and I came to quite large tear right next to the nail. It bled a lot, so be careful. Either file them down, or tape them, whatever to prevent them from hurting you. With all that said, GET THIS GUITAR!!!

Hey David ! Thanks so much for sharing your experience and opinions about this model here, love to read that and I'm sure people will find interest in your comment ! Yeah about the radius as I always say, it's SO subjective and I can definitely understand why some would absolutely love it and others would hate it. I'm more in between, it's definitely fun to play so it's all that matters but yeah...it's still a bit flat to my taste aha ! Oh you're totally right about the saddles screws actually, but it's something I find in pretty much all of my cheap guitars anyway...got used to play these so much I don't even realize it anymore but definitely something I'll keep in mind for next time 'cause you're right : it is worth mentionning ! Just being a bit careful not to injure yourself and it's great :) Thanks again for taking the time to write all this ! Can't agree more with your last 3 words ahaha ! Plus it really looks so damn beautiful...right ? Cheers man !

I have a cheap Aiersi Tele copy (paid $125 CDN used, mint) and after a fret leveling lts one of my preferred guitars to play. It's just fun and sounds so good.....it also has a very flat neck radius, which for me is perfect coming from Ibanez etc. I've been thinking about picking up one of these in a cool finish.

I just got my TE-62 in surf green and its great. I dont have to but i am going to put a graph-tech nut and string trees on it. I think i will keep the tunners but i will see after i play it for a couple of weeks. Im going to put brass saddles and i think thats it. I was thinking about putting a stacked Seymore Duncan in the bridge position with a push pull tone knob to split the SD pup, but these pups are pretty good, just for maybe a little more versatile. None of these upgrades are needed but for that price i figured i would do it. I also have a Thunderbird bass from Harley Benton that i got about a year ago and did a few mods and im happy. When i first started playing in the mid 70's you would get shit for that money. I am a bass playet that playes guitar and i have vintage Fender basses and Gibson basses and a Guild electric guitar and some decent guitars and used to be a headstock snob, no more, i just want a good playing guitar.

7 months later... I bought one and... sold it off. Sure, it's a guitar, and it's playable (if you replace half the hardware, especially the pickups), but it just has no soul. The neck is the worst part - just a generic, overlarge Chinese-built guitar. Waste of 88 euros.

Another reviewer noticed something I had not. That the bridge pickup is closer to the saddles than on a Fender Tele. I have a Harmonia Tele - that I love - that also has this very close to the bridge saddle issue. Seems to be a characteristic of Chinese Teles. But now I've become obsessed with this detail and always find the bridge pickup to be too bright, and weak sounding on the treble strings. The bass strings I think may actually sound better though.

I've got the TE20HH and it has neck radius of 12", I thought all the TE range has 12", 14" really is a bit too flat, the humbucker pickups don't have the striking tonal differences yours has and I'm glad about that.

I don't mind the flat radius. Just learned that it's better for slides. And I use a lot of those for my experimental stuff 😊 The tuners also stays in tune on mine really well, even though I do plenty of bending. I love the look and feel of it. And also sounds good enough. I mean, it's an absolute steal for that price. I did file down and sanded that pointy part on the headstock since it annoyed me. Took me a whole day 😅 Doesn't annoy me as much as the bigger headstocks of Harley Bentons and other companies Fender style instruments though. But they should really stop doing that. Doesn't look flattering imo. Better come up with a completely different design that still looks visually stimulating instead of the easy way out 😅 Even though it's still not the best looking, I still prefer the ones on the Ibanez AZ ones.

Hey, question: I read online that since the body is "too light" it is headdiving. Is it true? I use strap always, never playing without one neither sitting nor standing (obviously).
@nym053
@nym053 Жыл бұрын
@@yeoldefoxeh254 it is a bit headheavy. But the body on mine is not light. My cv Tele were significantly more heavy. But at least it wasn't headheavy. My TE-20 is on the heavier side of middle weight while my JA-60CC is a bit on the lighter side. Personally I've realised that head heavy or not doesn't really matter to me. I don't use a strap, and I'm sitting down only using my instruments for home studio use. I always hold the neck in my hand. If I'm in front of the computer, then I have the guitar in my lap between my legs, because my chair has armrests. I would much rather have a neck diving instrument if it means lighter weight on my leg. But if you would use it standing and not hold the neck in between songs for instance, then sure it would dive a bit. But if you get one with a heavier body, so that it wont dive, then that could be too heavy for a longer duration when standing maybe.
@nym053
@nym053 Жыл бұрын
@@yeoldefoxeh254 I just checked after getting home from work, and actually my TE-20 don't neck dive so badly. If I place it just right, then I can actually make it balance on my thigh without me holding on to the guitar. So I would say that it has the weight it should have. If the body were a bit heavier, then the overall weight would've been a bit too heavy for my taste. But of course the same type of wood for the same model can still vary from unit to unit. It depends on how dry the wood is. I also learned this from tabletennis blades (the entire wooden part of the racket/paddle). Btw, I can't make my JA-60CC balance on my thigh. And I have added weight from the Duesenberg trem that I changed the hardtail for. It has a roasted neck. Roasting makes the wood more dry obviously (also stiffer. So neck bending is a bit difficult.), but the neck is also a bit deeper than the one on the TE-20. The guitars overall weight isn't that much lighter than my TE-20 actually. So if you'd get a TE-20 that is just a bit lighter than mine, then you'll have very clear neck bending. I might've gotten lucky with mine. But I think I've seen people mentioning that theirs were on the heavy side as well. So maybe those who got one with a "bad" neckdive might've been the few who got unlucky depending in what way you look at it 🙂
