This is kind of an easy answer but "Summer" by Edith Wharton is a good option too. "The Glimpses of the Moon" and "The House of Mirth" by her make me think on the summer too. And also most of Jane Austen books (except perhaps Persuasion) and A Room with a View 😊

I love Edith Wharton in the summer! I haven't read The Glimpses of the Moon or The House of Mirth but they're definitely on my list. "Summer" is one of my favorites. 😊

The novel Goodnight Mister Tom by Michelle Magorian has a wonderful episode towards its conclusion that involves a bicycle vacation on the English coast by the protagonists that certainly captures bygone summers...🌻

I really want to read Middle March and the Count of Monte Christo this summer. Thinking about picking up the Iliad and the Odyssey now too though.

Today, I start with the Tennessee Williams play Suddenly Last Summer to kick off my Southern authors TBR list. The film was AMAZING. I'm from Alabama and I don't think anyone in the states experience summer like we do. So, I wanted a cozy and familiar summer TBR.

I love taking part in the Jane Austen July... this summer I'm hoping to finally read Mansfield Park and watch the dvd adaptation of Emma (the adaptation that came out a few years ago)

@@karenwetherald6086 Mine is actually Mansfield Park! It's very different from her other novels but I thought it was great. My other favorite is probably Pride and Prejudice

I loved the Count of Monte Cristo! We were given it as a summer reading assignment when I was in highschool and it's still one of my favorites. We read the bantam classics abridged edition, but I'd love to read the unabridged version someday!

You always give me a desire to read widely. The variety of books you mentioned cover at least as many genres and I wonder if you have a favorite type of book or period setting? I’m interested in Gulliver’s Travel’s, and Katie of Books and Things has applauded Passing so I must find a copy of each and let you know how I get along. I love the romantic poetry of William Wordsworth he is a master of making simple things beautiful! At the moment I am reading Shirley by Charlotte Bronte, and My Ántonia by Willa Cather-love them both. After watching your videos I’m inspired to read. Thanks, Valerie.

I crave scifi classics in the summer, so I'm reading the Dune series and will be diving into some H.G. Wells and Ursula K Le Guin soon. I definitely agree that The Count of Monte Cristo is a perfect summer read! It's surprisingly fast-paced and thriller-y.

Dune is a great pick! And I agree! Much more fast paced than I would expect from a chunky classic.

I am a huge fan of unreliable narrators/terrible narrators, so I love Lolita. Not sure if you have read Irlanda, or The Tunnel? Those are both shorties but are super fun cause the narrators are bonkers.
