Here's an interesting idea: why don't you cover unlanded "the Last of their Kind" characters? The last Zunist, the last Germanic Pagan, the last Pictish culture character, etc.

Maybe a list of interesting zoroastrian (oother off shots of the Mazda religions) characters could be cool both landed an unlaned to make it easier to make the list.

Don't know if you still read the comments here but I have a few suggestions (all from the 769 start): - Liederik van Vlaanderen, founder of that great dynasty that provided Dukes of Flanders. He starts 769 as a member of the North Sea Cogs mercenary group and is generally its heir too. Not easy to invite, but he usually has good stats. - The numerous cousins of Charlemagne who are at the court of Jérôme of Saintois: Jérôme and Bernard, both sons of Charles Martel, and their sons and daughters. Also, the two sons of Grifo Karling who was briefly King of Bavaria (they both have a strong claim on Bavaria). Two other cousins of Charlemagne: the two sons of Thierry Gellones, count of Melgueil, one of them being the famous Guillaume d'Orange. - Four very important shiite historical characters, three of them at the court of the Hashimid Emir of Hijaz: Musa al-Kadhim (seventh shiite Imam), his son Ali al-Ridha (eight shiite Imam) (both Fatimid) and Idris, the founder of the Idrissid dynasty in Maghreb. The fourth one is Muhammad ibn Isma'il, the Ismaili Imam, who is with the Bedouin Company and the ancestor of the Fatimid caliphs. - Eneko Ximenez, the grandson of the Duke of Gascogne and founder of the Iniga dynasty of Kings of Navarre (or Pamplona) - The future King Ecgberth of Wessex at the court of Cynewulf of Wessex That's all I can think of for now...

Played as Werner Salian this evening. He ended up a saint, his heir became the first Kaiser of Spain. Then Spanish Civil War happened. A lot. Good times.

@@ConqueringHistoryGames Marco Polo - around 1270 - Bologna, Thomas Aquinas - around 1250 as Tommaso d'Aquino, somewhere in Papal states.

I found playing as Edgar of Wessex quite fun, especially in the role play factor. Still trying to do a run of him snatching the throne of the Byzantine Empire. I did complete and import a 1066- to end date run keeping the Wessex dynasty on the throne after successfully taking England back. EU4 runs should be pretty fun to see if I can get it to survive longer.

Wish you could play unlanded characters generally, rather than having to land them and then console command.

Actually the black death is largely seen to have been benifical to the long term development of Europe, atleast from the research I've read. Would be interested to hear your points though

I doubt the accuracy of that research, since it tends to ignore the inevitable outcomes of trends that were already established by the 12th century and, in general, a loss of population is a loss of development speed. More people = more people working on things, including how to not starve with more people.

@@alexandruianu8432 not when that larger number of people have a markedly lower standard of living. As well as that, the black death encouraged urbanisation at a rate that wouldn't have happened on trend. The labour scarcity also encouraged less labour intensive production which was less likely under the trend. The development of a wealthy urban class probably led to much more of the developments he's referring to in the video

@@Burningpaladin1 I know those arguments, but I'm saying that there were trends that would have led to a similar result due to other factors relating to technologies and occupations appearing at the time, irrespective of a large plague, probably at a similar rate (in addition to changing mentalities in the emerging middle class - merchants). Killing off half the population could have been disastrous, such as it was in the Roman crisis of the 3rd century. Luckily trade was more decentralized this time around.

The bad thing in Premyslid is a fact, that in game he's a bastard, so if you want to have kids with him, you will have a new dynasty.

You usually give them a county and then save the game. Then load that save file up and select that character to play as. Another way is to press an unlanded character's claim, then switch over to them.
