Hi, I just discovered your channel. Great tips, thanks! One tip we found helpful for packing with younger kids: for packing clothing in ziplock bags, rather than putting socks in one, underwear in another, etc, pack the basics in day by day lots. One bag contains a day's underwear, socks, t-shirt, shorts, whatever you know they'll wear for a day depending on the climate. Squish the air out so they lay really flat for packing, and write the child's name on the bag if the bags look similar. It makes finding and doling out the clothes so easy in the morning, and stops clean and dirty clothing getting muddled up together. The bags can then be used for dirty/damp clothing at the end of the day.

Hi Jean. Thanks for the comment and apologies for the delay in replying. What a fantastic idea. To be honest, you don't even need to limit that to the kids. I (Rob) often find myself scanning through the wardrobe in a morning wondering what to wear. That would definitely work for me too.

Good call about the bonus reef shoes tip!! I ended up with a staph infection after getting coral stuck in my foot during a beach walk earlier this year! I saw a doctor within 24 hours, but it had acted SO fast! I promise you don't want to deal with this on your holiday, especially on a cruise ship!!

Hi Allison. Thanks for your support and for the kind comments about our little fur babies. Toby (white Havanese) is 9 now but since his diabetes was diagnosed and we got his diet and insulin controlled he's like a puppy again which is gorgeous for us to see. Ruby (salt and pepper Schnauzer) is just a typical Schnauzer and never runs out of energy. We love them to bits and wouldn't be without them.

@jasonw1000 it was absolutely amazing! The Brisbane terminal isn't much, I'd get a cab/ Uber as it drops you close to the doors. ( bring a bottle of water you'll probably be in the sun waiting. ) I am in love with cruising now, and if possible, I'll choose RC always. I really could fault it. I was in the selerium as the ship started moving away, and it was a great spot for seeing the views. Truly brilliant, you'll have a ball.

Saw this video today and want to say thanks for the advice about Imodium. We too put together our own first aid kit. Hubby and I are both good sailors but are travelling on the Pacific Encounter next month around New Zealand where seas have been bad lately and we wonder what you pack for sea sickness ? Thanks for your vlogs Karen

Hi Karen. Thanks for watching. We are generally pretty hardy but if it gets a little rough sometimes Ali can feel a bit off. We always take Kwells and they seem to work but they can know you out a bit so go carefully, don't want to sleep the cruise away. New Zealand is a fantastic cruise and we hope you have a fabulous time. We will definitely be back on another NZ cruise when the dates line up. Please let us know what you thought of it when you get back.

As an alternative to the plug in night light, I watched another video where they had a little battery operated tea light, which they just popped in a corner of the corridor.

Hi Debbie. We've tried a few from Amazon etc. like Crease Release Me but now looking for something more local. At the moment we are using Fluffy Freshen Up which you can get from Woolworths, Coles etc. You do need to use a hairdryer though for it to work best.

I’m sorry if this has already been mentioned, but we always take a powerboard on cruises as there often isn’t many PowerPoints in the stateroom, so it can really help with charging phones/smart watches/cameras etc etc. fantastic video guys !!

Hi and thanks for the support and comment. We also always take a powerboard (non-surge protected, of course). I think we mentioned that in our first 'What you should take' video but there is always so much debate on this that it can't be over-said. Best wishes for 2023 and enjoy your cruising.

Hi Rob & Ali, just a question. Is it necessary to get travel insurance if travel within Australia? If so which one would you recommend please. Thank you :)
@robandalicruisetravel
@robandalicruisetravel Жыл бұрын
Hi Kay. Travel insurance is not required for cruising within Australia, however, bear in mind that Medicare does not cover any medical costs on board or evacuation costs if you need to be taken off the ship for medical reasons. Doctors onboard charge at private rates and can be very costly. A few years ago one of our travelling companions went to the medical centre for an upset stomach and had a bill for $800. We were on a cruise once where a lady fell and broke her leg, that cost her $5,000 and we if a helicopter is required to take you off the ship it can be around $40,000 or more depending on where you are and where you get taken to. As such we would always recommend travel insurance. Unfortunately, we cannot recommend any particular company as I (Rob) work in that industry and that would be classed as providing advice, which I do not hold a licence for. What we do for Australian cruises though is we use the complimentary travel insurance that is provided by our credit card which has unlimited medical expenses to cover any big bills that may arise, which is our main priority. Maybe that's a place you could start as it is extremely cost effective but depends on what cover you want. Be sure to tell them that you are going on an ocean cruise though as you need different cover than you do for an inland cruise. Sorry for the lengthy reply but I have tried to provide as detailed a response as I can within what I am allowed to do. Hope this helps a bit but let us know if you need to know anything more.
