Eritrea is known as the "North Korea of Africa." It's so heavily censored that getting any photos or video footage out of the country is nigh impossible. A lot of activists working outside of Eritrea haven't seen ANY footage or photos of Eritrea for years, so they don't even know what's going on. I remember watching a documentary where one activist was blown away when someone managed to send 10 seconds of very grainy video footage from a smuggled in mobile phone.

@@geinerelizondo2019 Of course. No one is allowed to bear arms, because they would use those arms to defend themselves against their government. Those governments can't have that. They'd immediately fall and the leaders would be summarily executed in their palaces. Arguing against the right to bear arms is the same as saying your government (and its military) deserves to hold all the power and its citizens deserve no power whatsoever.

America isn't a democratic republic. It's a civil oligarchy. You're only presented with the illusion of freedom. Yeah, you can say screw a certain politician because, ultimately, it makes no difference. This country is low on quality of life lists compared to first world countries like Sweden, New Zealand, Germany, etc. It's all about wealth. Tell me, how long could you survive if you lost your job or got in an accident? What social services to you have access to that would actually help you?

@@davidknightx lol If I lose my job, it might hurt me for a few weeks until I can get another one (I've managed to sock away a few thousand dollars from working, and the big evil government can't take that money away from me like other governments in other countries can), because I have certain skills and qualifications by benefit of education, which I was able to afford thanks to a government grant (thank you, big evil government). I've had life-threatening emergencies three times in the last five years, and survived it all because 1) per big evil government regulation, hospitals were required to treat me, and 2) I'm on Medicaid (which if you don't know, means big evil government helped pay the cost of my treatment). You sure have a negative outlook on what the U.S. government is, what it does and what it's supposed to be about; i.e., you watch Fox News and believe their lies that "Government" is some big evil creature that swooped down out of the sky one day and stole power. If you want to know what the government _actually_ is, I'll clue you in. It's the first three words of the Constitution, our founding document: "We the People." _We_ hold the power. Sadly, most of our citizens (the dumb ones) don't know that and don't care to.

Ireland would be on this list if it was made before the 1990s, where anything that criticised the Church or mentioned homosexuality, birth-control, abortion, drugs or pre-marital sex, even in a neutral light, was banned. Such works censored included all the Monty Python movies and the Catcher in the Rye.

freedom of speech is important. Even if it goes against your views, and that of the government. "Misinformation" is not a good enough excuse to censor and is a violation of freedom of speech. thats just a nitpick at my own country, but there is many other countries besides these top ten that censor. Sometimes blatantly, or by omission.

About Iranian parliament's suppressive bill: While the exact details of the bill is KEPT secret, one expression is repeatedly stated by the authorities, since its legislation in 28 July 2021 so far: "From the day that the bill comes under operation, popular foreign services have a 4-month deadline to negotiate with the authorities to have a branch inside the country, otherwise they would be gradually blocked." This time, they are affirmed on BLOCKAGE instead on simply CENSORSHIP (hence the quotes on some of the parliamentary reps' social pages on Twitter), and per their definition of "popular foreign services", even Google services could have such a fate. They have revealed domestic counterparts for most of the services. (Which other country is famous for such this procedure? China) And if someone think that they haven't the technical knowledge or foundation for implement such barrier, it could simply be provided by PRC government per the recent Iran-China 25-year negotiations. These all mean that in a near future, Iran can join the club of the countries that have cut the border gateways almost completely and the network traffic is circuiting completely inside the country, after North Korea. So, it's more than a curb -- maybe a PURGE. (Services such as KZfaq and Twitter are already blocked in Iran, and we have to use VPNs for accessing them.)

When Fidel Castro died and his brother Raul Castro took over, Cuba saw a little more freedom than before. But when Raul retired in 2021 as First Secretary of the CPC and President Miguel Diaz-Canel succeeded him in that position, it went right back to Fidel's time in power. Remember: In communist countries that have a president, the General/First Secretary has the power, not the President. It's a ceremonial post.

You know why this cause blew the media up like crazy? Because Qatar had a falling out with Saudi Arabia and they used their platform Aljazeera to discredit Saudi Arabia that they never stopped reviving the Khashoggi murder even though the government was transparent and prosecuted the officers who killed him by an accident according to them but the media wants to make it about MBS they don't care about Khashoggi. The other reason is the left democrat media like CNN didn't like that Trump's administration had a good relationship with the Saudis. I also don‘t see him as a perfect person or whatever. but at least he was a constant critical journalist about saudia arabia. & that sth. like that could happen in an embassy from Saudia Arabia is just unbelievable. And I mean you see it youself they blocked the one episode that critised MBS on netflix… so how open & not censored can this country be where women are still controled by a husband & not in any way eqal at all. (alone the fact that it took so long for them to have to allowence to drive is the stupiest thing ever) For the US saudia arabia is important because they are against iran & that is why trump etc. didn‘t heavily critizise them… just imagine sth. like that would happen with a journailst in an Iranian Embasssy … the US would throw dozens of sanctions against Iran. By the way: I‘m myself see that MBS might doing some progress in allowing women to drive or having music festivals etc. but still that is not enough to call this country a uncensored place.

Either Watchmojo is pandering to China by not making them first, or numbers 5-1 really are that much worse. The latter certainly is a scary thought.

It's strange that Israel is not on this list even though they censored anything related to Palestine or criticizing Israel.
