Күн бұрын

Video Assistant Referee or VAR has now recently been introduced in football, and the rate of controversial goals has reduced but recently we had an incident on the Euro semi-final game of England vs Denmark where Sterling's fall on the penalty box was declared for a penalty. This raised the eyebrows of the football fans all over the world questioning why the referee didn't use the VAR for the penalty check. But there are lots of incidents that have questioned the power of the referees in the game of football. We have gathered 10 such incidents where controversies have crossed the lines and have gone way beyond. Enjoy.

2 ref decisions that always stick in my mind was Stephen Hunt not getting sent off for nearly killing Petr Cech and Chelsea v Barcelona 2009. Both were appalling decisions. Sterling and (kane to an extent he always throw himself down at the slightest touch) always does this though, he is generally very unsportsmanlike. as a Dane i will say this however Kyle Walker and Saka deserved the win though because they were fire that day. Walker single handedly stopped our entire offensive play by getting in the way of our target man every time, top class performance, and well saka is saka he was fast on the ball made some good dribbles and gave stirling 2 colossal oppertunities that he should have scored. Like lets be honest England was better that day but these two people were at the root of it, however England was not very efficient and so we almost punished you for it if not for that unlucky own goal. which if i remember correctly was put into the box by Saka. and then later ofcourse that disgusting penalty. had we lost in shoot outs or by a ordinary goal i would have been completely fine with loosing to an arguably much better side. But alas that was not what happened

The worst part is, the first one with Denmark where England got a penalty... Kasper was blinded with a lazer on top of it, and they had already informed the ref before hand that someone was trying to blind him with a green lazer... England also had most of their main event matches on homefield advantage compared to other countries. not to mention, that English fans had forced themself in betwen the Danish ones and harrased them by spitting on them as well. and dont forget, the disrespect of booing during a national anthem. Overall... Very poor performance from England and their fans, and they should have been disqualified had it been any other country with all thos bad behaviors they would have been. Edited: Oh ya, and all UEFA did was give them a small slap on the wrist like "shame on you, heres a peanut fine, that wont even compare to the amount of money you guys made on it".

Literally everything you just said was a lie. That’s impressive commitment to being a liar. You’re disagreeing with Schmeichel himself; he was completely unaware of any laser. I’d love to see you try and balance a laser in someone’s eye across a field. And no, it’s not illegal or blinding, the law is for helicopters. Goalkeepers are not operating helicopters, so unless it’s a military grade laser it would be no different to the floodlights that blind you. Most of all, if England are disqualified, Italy shouldn’t be allowed in the champions league, considering Italians went to England and almost killed a father with his child in a brutal attack, Sean Cox. They only served 3 years, while Sean Cox is permanently disabled, and lost all ability to operate due to such brain damage. Yet people cry about Twitter trolls and a crying German girl… nice priorities guys 👍

@@XXXTENTAClON227 Think you need to google some more mate before spewing your crap on my comments ill copy paste a few things to lecture you -> "What did Schmeichel say about the laser? The goalkeeper has now revealed he told the referee about the laser before the penalty: 'I did not experience it on the penalty kick because it was behind me on my right side. But I did experience it in the second half. 'I told the referee. And he went to say something to the other officials." "How far will a 5mW green laser go? A 5 milliwatt laser: a distraction 2 miles away It is a potential eye hazard from the pointer to about 52 feet. It is a temporary flashblindness hazard from the pointer, out to about 260 feet." "FIFA Standard Soccer Field Length: 100 Yards to 130 Yards Width (Goal Line) 50 Yards to 100 Yards" And you had a comment about everything else, but no the fact how english fans had forced them in betwen the danish ones and started harrasing them an throwing things at them. Also regarding your comment about Sean Cox that was back from 2018, its unlucky for a fan to get jumped after a match yet ... it was After the match and had no influence on the outcome of the match... theres been alot of things happening after a match his story just hit the news where others where forgotten..

I don't know about today's rules, but I saw that game. As a goalkeeper myself at that time, i can tell you that goalies had the right to guard. Jumping with a knee or even pegs up or punching for the ball was legal tackle, even if you connected with an opponent. In the box, you had to back off when the goalie came. Ot was the only way to protect us. The german (one of the greatest ever goalies in my opinion btw just for full disclosure) went for the ball but missed. You may think i am biased, but the rules did allow that. It was not a referee error. If not for that rule, hundreds of keepers would have been injured or worse over the years.

Most of these are because the refs had no way to see the goal or foul pre-VAR. There's only 2 sets of eyes on a side of the field at a time, there's gonna be mistakes. A striker could miss 10 shots in a game and still have a good game, but if a ref misses one call, they get death threats. An error by a player is expected. An error by a ref is "controversial".

One of the biggest issues in this game is the player’s mentality. Diving and hand-balling anything to win is just downright unsportsmanlike, especially when it causes such huge controversy like knocking out a team from a tournament. With such big consequences on the line you’d think the players would be as honest as possible, so they can expect the same from their opposition, but no!

Well as a Reading fan, there was a game that I remember from December 2020. It was Sheffield Wednesday vs Reading. Sheffield Wednesday scored early on, then Reading scored not too long after in the first half. Then Wednesday got a red card. But the controversial part was when we had I believe 5 penalty shouts, all of which seemed like definite penalties. How many were actually given as a penalty? None. The game finished 1-1, and it's still the most frustrating game I've ever watched as a Reading fan, and there have been a lot. Don’t worry Denmark is going to win the World Cup and that’s much more better then the euros and also I’m a danish too and this still makes me mad and sad that the referee was blind and the var was english and sterling dived and Kane rebounded

I would of loved to watch Denmark vs Italy but of course England and their violent fans had to ruin the fun again like ever year

I just wanna point out the irony about that goal of england vs germany not counting. We all know that the exact opposite was the case in the 1966 finale.

you forgot the Aston Villa vs Sheffield United goal that went into the net, yet GLT was not turned on and VAR refused to address it. That goal kept Aston Villa in the prem eventually...

So, what was the problem with Tottenham - ManC match? Both episodes were refereed correctly? Llorente controlled the ball with his hip and Sterling was offside.
