People trying to compare the USA to these countries and saying 'this can happen to you here too' need a reality check lol. *CAN* happen and significantly more likely are not the same. can't compare USA to Venezuela, Mali, Iraq, Syria, Iran, etc.
@lucasharvey8990
@lucasharvey8990 2 жыл бұрын
That's fair, and I see your point, but I disagree. Isn't Los Angeles one of the richest cities in the world yet filled to the brim with homeless people in tents who are so desperate that they break into cars on a daily basis? I also like to point to Texas's government refusing to winterize their energy grid, resulting in occasional shut downs at the worst of times. Edit: we're still way better than Venezuela, yeah, but judging our success as a country by comparing ourselves to the worst places in the world seems like a disingenuously low bar that we can set for ourselves, and it blinds us to the very real disastrous problems that occur.

The U.S. is directly responsible for the current situations in many of these countries so you’re right. Although I wouldn’t totally throw out the possibility that China could do the same to the USA one day as the wealth divide and political partisanship destroys our grip on the economic and cultural hegemony.

@@lucasharvey8990 yes LA is one of tje richest coties in the world, and thats actually why there is so many homeless. The average cost of housing is outrageous and that line between working poor and homeless is set much higher than most places. Its also full of transplants from around the country and a lot of people have no support system there because their families live elsewhere. So when they run into trouble, they are on their own. Regardless these countries problems arent poverty as much as being in constant conflict and opposing factions battling for control.

Such a shame these places were ruined by politicians and terrorist organizations. Most of the people are probably nice but the circumstances have made living there dangerous. I hope these problems will be solved soon or people can at least lead better lives. It seems unfortunate if you're born there. :/

The State Department country danger ratings are an absolute, unequivocal joke. Iceland, Liechtenstein, and Ireland are currently Level 4: Do Not Travel. On the other hand, Angola is Level 1: Exercise Normal Precautions and the DRC is Level 2: Exercise Increased Caution. The French system is noticeably more useful.

Even tho there is a lot of truth to these videos this is also a form of propaganda as well. There are some places on this list that are beautiful with beautiful people. Of course your perspective on somewhere you’ve never been will be skewed if all you I see is the bad parts. Yes the Fugees are Haitian American and every Haitian American I’ve ever met has been smart, funny, creative, humble and hardworking. Great reaction! I just take these videos with a grain of salt because for every truth about a country there’s also a lie. In other words there’s a lot of fear mongering going on.

My mate has been to Iran on a tourist visa, he absolutely loved it. As long as you don't fly drone around their military infrastructure or take pictures of sensitive areas like mosques and government buildings, no one will bother you. The infrastructure was shockingly good in Iran. He visited almost 8 cities and every single city was clean, well maintained and great roads. Despite the sanctions Iran is very well developed. What Dubai is now, Iraq was in the 60s. Iraq was a thriving tourist place with clubs and beaches and plenty of movie and rock stars went out there, as they do with Dubai now. Shame how a war or a loud and violent minority can totally redefine a place for outsiders. Iraq and Syria are normal places, with normal people but Westerners and Americans can’t imagine a time when they weren’t defined by their wars/rough times.

Russia has long been none religious place in part because communists banned it. The US is actual one of the most religious places. Very much too much so in my opinion. By the way the Russian Anti religion thing was not because the leaders where Atheists who wanted to force people into that, it was because they wanted total control over their people and they seen people having religion as a threat to that power. Russia currently doesn't ban religion anymore but most haven't gone back to it. Those who did have mostly gone into being into the Muslim faith.
