His son played for the team also, though not a star The Canadiens, having not done so for quite a while, decided to retire several numbers, along with his number (finally) in a short span of time. Geoffrion bled blue, white & red & was extremely proud to have been associated with the team for so long. He passed away the night before the ceremony. Members of his family attended the ceremony, it was so sad to watch what would have been one of Geoffrion’s proudest moments, and to see his family there was heartbreaking 💔
