Angle should be the unquestioned #1 here. My god I used to hate on him when I was younger but looking back on it he’s was a damn genius! Maybe the best ever. Think about this everyone...Angle (in his prime) in a match with Ospreay or Kenny Omega today. Hell how about Gargano or Adam Cole! Would be simply amazing.

I feel like smarks really value the wrestlers who are most likely to suffer career ending injuries early on, and generally retire early or wrestle despite severe neck or back injuries. Bryan, Ospray, Edge, Michaels. Meanwhile the guys who don't kill themselves via headbutts and backflips "can't wrestle" or "aren't wrestlers" but they're the ones who end up coming back in their 50's without bribing doctors, because they didn't turn their necks to glass via doing crazy bumps nightly or doing dangerous high flying moves nightly or doing 50 backflips in a match. Maybe you'd have an older michaels as champ right now rather than old Goldberg, if Michaels hadn't repeatedly done things to destroy his body.
