Why are you using the words 'lost their lives ' , whereas gurus left their bodies naturally in will of the god , that's why most of the sikh gurus age was around 40-50 . 2. What do you mean by third Guru lived a long life around 100 years but unfortunately lost his life , you would have said 'they left their bodies at this or that age instead'. Other facts: 3 . The sixth Guru was not actually imprisoned . The emperor was very ill that he feared his death . He asked his courtiers to suggest the solution to his problem . The courtiers suggested to him that if holy sixth Guru would meditate in the prison for 40 days , his condition might improve . The emperor sent his general to the Guru and he explained to the Guru the problem. The Guru knew that the emperor had imprisoned 52 innocent kings from a long time. He agreed to meditate in prison for forty days. He went to prison and started meditating . But his condition deteriorated day by day , the emperor forgot to release the guru when 40th day came . He went to Sai Mian Mir who was companion of 5 th Guru , the father of 6th Guru , who told him if he wants to save himself from death , immediately release the holy sixth Guru or get ready to die . The emperor told the Guru he could go now but Guru said he would only go if 52 kings would also be released with him . The emperor said that who would hold onto the Guru could go , guru asked his Sikhs to make a robe of 52 tessels , then every king holded the every tessel and the 52 kings were finally released from the fort from where no one used to come out alive . Guru returned to Amritsar along with 52 kings , Sikhs celebrate the return of the Guru as the Bandi chor diwas day that falls on the day of Diwali . 4 . The eighth Guru who was only 8 years went to Delhi . At that the people of Delhi were suffering from pandemic of smallpox , the Guru took the sufferings of all the people on himself , all the people sufferings went away and they thanked the Guru for curing pandemic. guru's mother asked him that you have spiritual powers you cured the people , why you can't cure yourself , then Guru said that We have to remain in the will of the almighty and never interfere in his order by using powers . The Sikhs asked who will be the next Guru , then the 8 th year old Guru prophesized that the next Guru is meditating in bakala village . Then Guru recited the final prayers and then rest his body on the bed , put on himself the blanket and finally left his body at the age of eight years .
