IMO Time Heist is peak underrated who. A fun science fiction twist on a tried and tested genre, with fun side characters and timey wimey twists all lead to a fun story of intrigue and an underrated Capaldi performance

I always wondered how much time passed between the doctor and Clara leaving the bank and them coming back when the PV owner was on her deathbed. Like was it a couple of days? A few years? Clara was still with the doctor so he was still traveling with her so it wasn't a long time but we never truly know how much time passes in between non-serialized episodes. 😮

100%. The whole of series 8 is very underrated imo, Into the Dalek is another great one no one ever talks about.

For me gridlock is one of the better episodes of NuWho, it’s a gripping story in an interesting setting (or a new perspective on an established setting) and the twist at the end is just so powerful and such a surprise. Idk if it’s “underrated” because I’m not sure how much it’s liked, but it’s a top A tier episode and not talked about enough imo

"The Unicorn and the Wasp" is one of my guilty pleasure episodes because it's totally tongue-in-cheek with a sort of Reverend Golightly in the drawing room with a bee sting kitschiness. Cheers....

The Return of Doctor Mysterio is underrated in my opinion. It's funny, Capalidi and Lucas are brilliant as usual and the plot is as ridiculous as you'd expect from the comic book genre It's riffing off.

Personally I like the whole “Space Jesus” part of the last of the timelords. It showed a flaw in the masters plan by linking the human race together. The doctor linking himself to the network to undo the masters damage thanks to the human race coming together as one under one banner and one name. Believing in the story of the man who has saved him time and time again. It shows how powerful hope is.

Plus, there's plenty of scenes to show that the Doctor has psychic abilities. Like everything else, he keeps it dampened down while exploring. So if the Master has set up a telepathic field, OF COURSE the Doctor is going to find a way to tap into it.

I don't agree with you on your summarisation of Rory. Unlike Mickey, who really started weak, precisely as a bumbling idiot boyfriend of Rose (their relationship was even worse than Amy and Rory's), we're introduced to Rory as a strong supporting character in his very first episode. He's the one figuring the connection between the patients in coma and Prisoner Zero. He also figured out, how the TARDIS'es "bigger on the inside" effect works, while everyone else said the plain boring "it's bigger on the inside", Rory actually managed to take the Doctor off guard by statting it's another dimension. Granted his background (I mean Amy forced him to play the Doctor, when they were kids), it's no wonder, that he's being perceived as the less smarter sidekick, but as he said himself "I've done my homework", he properly studied the Doctor, the TARDIS and all the other Amy's shenanigans during growing up with her. He's a nerd. But that's not a crime, is it? XD Rory Williams is definitely not a bumbling idiot.

Yes I enjoyed David Suchet's portrayal in that episode very much indeed. but I never missed an episode of him as he played the best Hercule Poirot in his own TV series of the same name!

Not sure how anyone else views these episodes but my favorite episodes to watch bc of story and just how good they are is definitely bad wolf/parting of the ways, smith and jones, silence in the library/forest of the dead, turn left, waters on mars, end of time 1/2, impossible astronaut, good man goes to war, honesty long game is better then I remember, girl who waited-god complex-closing time are 3 straight bangers, deep breadth breath top tier, time and name of the doctor, all amazing imo

Honestly you could put most of Jodie's episodes on here though gotta give a spotlight to all the eras of course but yeah! Some other underrated episodes imo are 42, The Hungry Earth/Cold Blood, Curse of the Black Spot, Dinosaurs on a Spaceship, Robot of Sherwood, Empress of Mars, The Witchfinders, Praxeus, Survivors of the Flux and Legend of the Sea Devils (bit of a guilty pleasure for me, yes it has ISSUES oh boy does it but it's so much fun!). And these are just a few others, I could name even more but I'd be here a long time especially if I included the classic show too! I love Doctor Who honestly, warts and all!

S11 EP1 (6/10) - Decent. S11 EP2 (5/10) - Forgettable. S11 EP3 (5/10) - Decent. The villain was terrible. S11 EP4 (4/10) - "Trump baaaaaaad". Boring episode. S11 EP5 (4/10) - Not bad. Poor acting. S11 EP6 (4/10) - Historically biased and forgettable. S11 EP7 (8/10) - Pretty good. S11 EP8 (8/10) - Very enjoyable. I liked Alan Cumming. S11 EP9 (5/10) - "Single Dads baaaaaaad" The whole frog thing was dumb. I liked the part with Graham speaking to Grace. The Doctor was heartless to Graham. S11 EP10 (7/10) - Decent. Underwhelming finale. Special (7/10) - Meh. S12 EP1 (7/10) - Pretty good. S12 EP2 (4/10) - Abysmal. S12 EP3 (2/10) - "Global warming baaaaaaad". Boring episode. Bad acting. Bad writing. S12 EP4 (5/10) - A good episode for people with insomnia. Made the companions look useless when Yaz had to be taught how to do her job by a guy who lived in the 19th century. S12 EP5 (6/10) - Good episode up until the lore destruction. S12 EP6 (2/10) - "Littering baaaaaaad". Boring episode, very inconsistent writing. S12 EP7 (5/10) - Good concept. Not executed very well. S12 EP8 (8/10) - Great episode. S12 EP9 (9/10) - Another great episode. S12 E10 (2/10) - Destroyed 60 years of lore. Special (7/10) - Good to have Jack back. S13 EP1 (6/10) - Good episode. S13 EP2 (8/10) - Great episode. However, the doctor was a bit of a hypocrite when they complained about the general killing the sontarans, yet it was fine when Dan wiped a bunch of them out of history. S13 EP3 (2/10) - Shockingly bad episode. Boring. Terrible acting. Incredibly confusing. S13 EP4 (9/10) - Favourite episode of Jodie's era. S13 EP5 (3/10) - Destroying more lore... S13 EP6 (4/10) - Overcomplicated plot. Rushed story. Disappointing ending. Special 1 (6/10) - Good concept. The side characters shone. Special 2 - (2/10) - Very boring. Amateur cuts and edits done by someone who lacked professional experience. Scene with the Doctor and Yaz fell flat. The Doctor had no problem with ditching Dan. Special 3 (8/10) - Mostly enjoyable. I'm honestly glad the era is over. It was underwhelming, and the drop in ratings reflect that.

"drop in ratings reflect that" No it reflects TV ratings being down across the board. though ultimately opinions are all subjective but I do want to point out some questionable claims here, like: No, the Timeless Child doesn't destroy 60 years of lore, and how does Survivors of the Flux "destroy more lore" And also: Demons of the Punjab "Historically biased and forgettable" What?! this is utter nonsense. Speaking of nonsense - It Takes You Away is not "Single dads baaaaaad" and calling it that shows you didn't pay attention to the story at all, and the Doctor wasn't heartless to Graham at all, if anything she was really sympathetic and knew how he felt but also knew that if he didn't reject it they would all die in that universe. Also calling Nikola Tesla's Night of Terror "A good episode for people with Insomnia" ???? that episode is great! and the companions all pulled their weight so they didn't look useless at all. honestly if you were just giving your thoughts without these things and comments like "Trump baaaaaad" (yes he is) and "Plastic baaaaaaad" which is oversimplifying that story a lot, then I wouldn't even respond at all as then you'd just be giving your thoughts which is fine but these comments necessitated a response.

@@friendlyotaku9525 The ratings for nearly every episode in Jodie's first season were much higher than that of the previou Doctor Who season (Season 10). Season 11 lost 34% of its audience by the end, and Season 12 lost 32%, and Season 13 lost 41%. An overall drop in viewing figures alone (of which is only 12%) can't account for this. A sharp decrease in ratings demonstrates a decreased interest in the show due to the view of the show by the audience. This is reflected by audience scores. In Capaldi's 3 seasons, he got average season scores of 79%, 82%, and 68%, while only losing 29%, 6%, and 21% of his audience across all 3 seasons respectively - a much lower drop off than Jodie. However, Jodie's 3 seasons got average audience scores of 20%, 16%, and 28%. This demonstrates a direct cause for a sharp decrease in viewing figures. The Timeless Children does destory lore. It has been established for nearly 60 years that Hartnell was the first Doctor and that the founders of Galifrey were Rassilon and Omega. This episode wiped the slate clean. Don't even try and appeal to the Morbius Doctor's. That argument has been debunked time and time again. The Doctor was horrible to Graham. All she did was say "Oh I'm socially awkward" when he tried to talk to her about his fears of cancer coming back. That is disgusting. Yaz was made to look like a fool in the Nikola Tesla episode. She had to be told how to do her job by a man living in the 19th century. Yaz also somehow lost an old man who could barely walk in Orphan 55. The Arachnids story was so glaringly obvious as being the BBC poking fun at Trump. Just look at the business guy - American, running for president, a capitalist, a billionaire. I mean, come on. The other story, the plastic pollution one, that had so many plot holes and contrivance, it was impossible to watch.

Tooth and Claw I've always enjoyed and I consider it one of the scariest episodes of the show - before the wolf transforms and when it does is terrifying. The Lazarus Experiment & 42 I would watch happily - nothing special about them but they're entertaining - the latter especially featuring a a great use of All the Strange, Strange Creatures. The Doctor's Daughter - lovely to see the relationship between 10 and his daughter (and incidentally future wife) blossom Series 7 Part 2 - loads of underrated episodes here: Rings of Akhaten, Journey to the Centre of the TARDIS, Hide, The Crimson Horror - all great fun to watch Let's Kill Hitler - frankly I quite enjoy it. I know it gets a lot of hate but I remember it more vividly than A Good Man Goes To War for some reason.

Great video Who Culture! I particularly enjoyed Boom Town, The Idiot's Lantern, and The Unicorn and the Wasp! My most underrated episodes from each new who series are: 1) Aliens of London/ World War Three 2) The Idiot's Lantern 3) Daleks in Manhattan/ Evolution of the Daleks 4) The Sontaran Stratagem/ The Poison Sky 5) Amy's Choice 6) Night Terrors 7) Hide 8) Time Heist 9) The Girl Who Died 10) Thin Ice 11) It Takes You Away 12) Can you hear me? 13) The Village of the Angels These probably aren't episodes that everyone enjoys but they're just episodes that I find easy to rewatch and really enjoyable! I must admit Love and Monsters blew my mind when I first saw it. Davies deserves credit for daring to do something radically different. It paved the way episodes like Blink Elton is a funny likeable character. In fact all of Linda are extremely likeable.The speech Jackie says about being left behind and alone is amazing. It really adds depth to her character. The Scooby Doo gag is priceless. There are of course elements that could work better. The revelation of where Elton remembers The Doctor from and the scene of his mum walking away from his younger self always breaks me as my mother wasn't long dead when I first saw this episode.

Idk man I think it used to be but at this point I see it brought out as an underrated episode by a few popular DW creators. I figure by now it's almost perfectly rated :) Personally I love that episode btw. The actor for Pete did amazingly imo, I wish we got more of him but I get why we didn't plotwise

The Unicorn and the Wasp also has real titles of real Agatha Christie books scattered throughout the script - if you’re a fan of Agatha Christie, it makes this episode so much fun trying to get them all!

Chibnall certainly wasm't on the same level as his predecessors, but he did have his good episodes, and I'd say all 3 dalek new years specials were pretty good, something I particularly liked was Chibnall coming up with a way to have his own Dalek redesign without as much pushback as Moffat had with the New Dalek Paradigm, by introducing the redesign in a way that shows it's not going to replace the Gold Daleks, it's just something that Dalek was able to assemble.

Glad Boomtown was in this list. That scene with The Doctor and Margaret in the restaurant was awesome. Poison darts and other shennagins and The Doctor just shrugs them off. Then BOOM TOWN!!! One season of Christopher Eccleston was not enough.

I really liked A Town Called Mercy, and my biggest complaint with it is this knobheaded nitpick that I can't get out of my head. The surgeons name is Kahler-Jex. The cyborgs name is Kahler-Tek. I see the naming scheme of the species, but was it Tek before he was a cyborg? Did they change it, is it a coincidence, its obviously supposed to sound like Tech but it's so simple I hate it, like how else does the naming scheme go within the species, is it limited to things that rhyme with "ech". I don't want to call it lazy, but I don't want to call it clever, and I'm really not even mad, it just bugs me so much. Matt Smith's acting in that episode is top tier.

6:40 doctor who predicting the future?? the actress in this shot was in game of thrones, which is what "5. thrones marathon" is referencing right? but this ep was from christmas 2014, and the actress didn't appear in thrones until 2015. I am flummoxed

Why does everyone forget the Jesus doctor was explained, the archangel network is/was telepathic to humans specifically, as for him becoming Jesus doesn’t really make sense but he gets the combined telepathic powers of 7 billion people I feel like would heal him at least. Boomtown is really only underrated because no on e remembers it. Kinda what happens when you're right in the middle of the best Series 1 has to offer. Those last 6 episodes of Series 1 are my favorite to rewatch.

I absolutely hate Chris Chibnall. Jodie could have been amazing, but DW has been... nowhere near the same since RTD left. But Resolution... the Dalek vs. army scene in there is one of my favourite Dalek scenes. Reminds me of the very first "Dalek" episode of NuWho.

It surprises me whenever I find out people don't consider Unicorn and the Wasp a stone cold classic. I don't know. For me, it's easier to just talk about the shows I'd prefer to avoid. It's a much shorter list. MUCH shorter. The Idiot's Lantern - where we all learned that it's only called "Union Jack" when at sea. Even I didn't know, and I've read a lot about the British Navy (and not just Hornblower, thank you). The Last of the Timelords, with Martha walking the Earth, reminded me of a coverastion I had just this morning: If you are an aspiring actor, or even youtube presenter, and you like taking walks, a good thing to do is to find a walking buddy and, during said walk, TALK. Last Christmas was a fantastic episode, I just wish that it had been Clara's Last appearance like they had originally planned, it would've been a better send off in my opinion, she had the chance to live a full life and leave the doctor in peace, instead we got face the raven+hell bent

Now I really liked the frog scene in It Takes You Away. Not for the talking frog but how Jodie acts against it. I had struggled to see her as Doctory until that scene when it felt like she captured some essence of Doctors past. Funny how a talking frog took me into the series and invest more into Jodie.

SHe doesn't have to prove her worth, and she still IS the Doctor. You don't stop being the Doctor just because you happen to leave the show. But I understand what you mean.

Ehhh...agree to disagree on the first two (which I find among the worst episodes of the series), and Turn Left has never struck me as particularly underrated. Maybe it's the reviewers I watch/read, but that one has been seen as a classic from the word go.

I'm sorry, but "It Takes You Away" could have been great. But the 'frog' both in the execution and in what it represents ultimately ruins it. Similarly, "Resolution" could have been great, except the immortal quintrasected Dalek break suspension of disbelief into pieces. I love "A Town Called Mercy". Especially with Ben Browder as a guest star. Also, click bait thumbnail is bad.
