Nilguiri Because Mohammad is an Arabic/Islamic name and the UK is not Arabic/Islamic. Its in Europe and the majority of its population is Christian. From this we can see that the British dont bear enough children if even the Arabic minority bears so many that their names take the leaderboard. I find that funny

Harlekin Sego see if there are 100 children and 10 of them are muslims and 3 of the muslims are named Muhammad and thus make this name the most given name doesn't mean that there are more muslim children because 90 are not

its the same kind of arabic .. and its not like italy at all .. arabic evolves around root words ... almost every word in arabic can be traced to a root word .. for example the root to (speak) kallama can derive kalam(speech) kalemat(words) mokalama(telephone call) kaleem (mate you speak to) and almost every verb you can imagine eg. speak to me (kallemny) .. now both morocco and egypt know the root and the words and use it .. except the word mostly used for "speak" in morocco is "hathr"(speak alot or speak nonsense"thats because in arabic culture silence is always better" ) and in egypt kallama is more used .. another example the word hethar(alot of nonsense speech) comes from "hathr" is widely used in egypt by the meaning (joking) .. while in morocco they use "mazh" which is the real root word for joking .. its the twisted use of words which makes dialects different but the language still the same and wider than both dialects ..

Idk if you could please help me but my dad was named after my great grandfather, (and btw my family fled from Palestine, so my dad was the first generation born in Mexico 🇲🇽) whose arabic version of his name was lost when they migrated because they made them all change their names to their Spanish equivalent. Over time, the only members of my family who spoke any Arabic have passed away now... So no one in my family can tell me what my dad's original name was in Arabic. In Spanish his name is Juan Carlos (Giancarlo in Italian). Google says it's "خوان كارلوس" but I trust you more than Google on this one LOL. Love your video btw you're so cute and full of life.💜

@rita8689 5 жыл бұрын
Rocio Abugarade The equivalent of Juan (John in English) is « Yahya » (يحيى) (can be translated as « may he live ») but I don’t really see what Carlos can be. I think this is what Spanish kings were called but that doesn’t help. Perhaps he just added it to Juan.. I hope you’ll find an answer,, don’t give up.

Giancarlo translates to Yahya from Juan/Gian. However, its possible your father was given a random Spanish name, and not one that has a translation from his Arabic name. It's possible he was just named Juan Carlos because it was a popular name at the time. Does your family not have documents in regards to their settling in Mexico? It would be really exciting if you were to find your father's side of the family in Palestine.

I love your video's! Does someone know a good video where the Arabic grammer patterns get explained? فعل
@IbnuCuruk
@IbnuCuruk 5 жыл бұрын
Merel You should study the branch of Arabic morphology to learn the different verb molds and their various cunjugations. This branch is called صرف (sarf) in Arabic. Typing something like “صرف الأفعال" should give you some videos in Arabic. Try typing “conjugation Arabic verbs” if you want some English ones, I guess. Merel sounds like a Dutch name, so if you are Dutch: ik adviseer u om de Arabische taal niet online te leren, maar gewoon om je in te schrijven in een Arabische cursus. Meeste moskeeën bieden dat aan (hoogst waarschijnlijk nemen ze ook niet-moslims aan, als u geen moslim bent). Meeste online video’s zijn slecht en niet gedetailleerd genoeg om een gezonde begrip van de les te kunnen hebben. U zou trouwens lqtoronto (website) kunnen proberen.

Been waiting 3 weeks for you to post this video. My fiancée name is Ahmad. I thoughfoe sure his name would make the top 10. I struggle with how Muhammad and Ahmad are pretty much the same. To me, Ahmad doesn’t sound like just a shortened version of Muhammad. I can say my fiancée brother’s name fine (Muhammad), but I struggle with the ‘Ah’ in Ahmad, so it sounds like Ahkmad when I pronounce it. Instead, I just call him by his family name.
@IbnuCuruk
@IbnuCuruk 5 жыл бұрын
Stephanie Burke They have the same root letter ح - م - د so it’s no surprise that they sound the same. Although they might sound similar, the meaning of Ahmad and Muhammad is different in grammatical perspective: - Muhammad: it is the eloquent form of the word Mahmood. It is a participle (ismu maf’ool). It means “someone that is much praised (by God)”. - Ahmad: I guess you could say that this is the superlative form of the verb (ismu tafdîl). It then means “someone that praises (God) the most. So one is being praised and the other one is praising. Hope this clarifies it a bit. I added some grammatical explanation for the Arabic speakers that didn’t know. Edit: Just to clarify: Muhammad and Ahmad are both the names of the last prophet Muhammad (صلى الله عليه وسلم). Both are mentioned in the Qur’aan.

I'm francophone and I laugh at Arabs when they try to call their kids using the French pronunciation as if that will make them integrate better into the French society. Arabic names loose their charm with the French pronunciation tbh.

I'm a robot They sound different to you because some of them use a form of Arabic transliteration that was not meant for their language, while others do use one that was meant for their language. different transliterations were meant for different languages. For instance, the “u” in Muhammad and the “o” Mohammad both try to transliterate the same vowel, the dammah after the letter “meem”. If you read it with the Arabic pronunciation, it would sound the same. But when you read them with the French pronunciation they don’t. Transliterating the vowel dammah to “u” in English, Turkish or Dutch makes more sense than transliterating it to an “o” for example, because it sounds more close to the Arabic pronunciation. You generally want to transcribe the Arabic letter to a corresponding letter that has the same sound or to a letter that comes close to that sound. If the Arabic letter has no same or similar sounding letter in a language, you use a symbol and explain how it should be pronounced. As the brother said, there is not really a rule to write it in Latin letters. It differs from language to language, but there are some transliterations that are used worldwide. I think i talked too much. Cya, lol
