Alas, I have to agree with Marvel on #2. Given this was Iron Man 3 and not the first movie, showing Iron Man in the "superhero landing pose" would not imply they copied from another comic book illustrator. There is a reason that pose is considered cliche nowadays.
@chrismcdonald29475 күн бұрын
I remember the lawsuit. It was hilarious to try and argue that such a generic pose could be copyright infringed. They wanted free marketing for their own indie comic
@thornofsociety68575 күн бұрын
Probably only chance they had was if they could prove that that pose didn't exist prior to their comic cover being done, which would be near impossible.
@johnofthenorth66533 күн бұрын
The only way something like that has any hope is if it is the EXACT same pose. Tony's right hand is posed differently, his left knee is more prominent, and you get a better look at Tony's chest. Yes the two characters are posted in a similar fashion but the Iron Man 3 poster also isn't a blank white backgrond so there are plenty of other ways the poster is not at all similar to the comic cover.

"10 movie posters that lead to MASSIVE LAWSUITS" BUT THE FIRST 2 HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH YOUR TITLE

Title of video implies it was the posters alone, list features quite a few where the poster was a minor part of the lawsuits(not to mention they even add a tv show which should be on another albeit similarly themed list). WhatCulture been really getting bad with these list videos not following what they are meant to be about.

Texas being upset and suing over the Cuties movie poster for those reasons is peak hypocrisy whey they like many of the southern US states love their child beauty pageants.
@matv24365 күн бұрын
So the first example you flat out say the case was dismissed, so no lawsuit. The second example you flat out say the poster wasn't the cause of the lawsuit, but it helped. I think whomever writes these scripts should probably take a comprehension class. Or maybe at least 1 rewatch to make sure you don't sound like an idiot.

Whatculture literally said it was the Netflix and the American marketing that did the film wrong. The og French poster (because it's a French film) didn't feature that. It's clear you didn't even watch the movie because then formally a dance team isn't even the major part of the story. Also no one should get death threats for a film about their experiences as a child.

Tattoo artists need to realise they moment a tattoo is finished they cease to own that tattoo unless for some reason the client signed a contract saying they do. Which means the client, in this case Mike Tyson, would have to pay every time they post an image or video of themselves as it’s using said tattoo. Did the guy go to HBO or any other establishments that showed and promoted Mike to sue them? No. The tattoo was used as a parody of the likeness of Mike Tyson, something the tattoo artist doesn’t own. He got paid so fair play but they should have done what the guy who tried to sue for NBA 2k using Lebron and having his tattoos; laugh in his face and assure him he’s not getting a penny.

Cuties didnt have horrible advertising, it was just horrible. It was a movie sexualizing tweens, who cared about its marketing? How do you market that and who do you market it to?
@meghanmmagicss28763 күн бұрын
Did you ever actually watch the movie. Or do you just believe everything that you read on the internet 💀
@jeffstrom1643 күн бұрын
@meghanmmagicss2876 The plot doesn't matter in the least. The fact remains that they dressed tweens in outfits meant to sexualize while doing dances meant for adults. Saw plenty of that in its clips and advertisements. Any at all is to much. When making movies about bad things you don't actually do the bad thing, you pretend. Cuties did the bad thing, they didn't pretend.

I don't understand how a tattoo artist thinks they own a tattoo that is on someone else body like you don't own that person's body or the art they decided to put on there body because unless you put a copyright claim on it you don't own it
@mxich87915 күн бұрын
...that's not what's happening. The artist owns the tattoo DESIGN as it's an original art work. He doesn't want the design that he created used.
@RLplusabunchofdumbnumbers5 күн бұрын
Not how copyright works. Artists own the creative product of their efforts unless there's a specific contract that says otherwise - in this case, the design of the tattoo. Same for photographers. It's why celebs like Gigi Hadid and Dua Lipa keep getting sued (and settling because they'll lose in court) when they use someone's photograph of them for social media promotion. Unless there's a contract in place beforehand that says something is work for hire, Photographers automatically own the copyright of every photograph they've ever taken, graphic designers own every design they've ever made, artists every sketch and design, musicians every composition, authors everything they've written, etc., etc.
@dhenderson18104 күн бұрын
@@RLplusabunchofdumbnumbers So say a tattoo artist does a generic flower tattoo, for example, can they claim it as theirs, even though there are plenty of those around.
@dhenderson18104 күн бұрын
@@RLplusabunchofdumbnumbersYou have to file an actual patent or copyright on your design. It can't be just implied, or else people can claim anything. You say musicians for their songs, but they have an actual contract which says that. Unless the tattoo artist has a piece of paper that says that it is their original design, then it is free use. What about when a tattoo artist is asked by a client to tattoo on them someone else's design. Can that artist sue another tattoo artist for using their design? What's good for the goose.... I mean, that tattoo in "Hangover 2" is just a bunch of lines. Nothing original about it. The photo thing is crap. Anyone can take a photo. If anything, Dua Lipa could sue the photographer for using her "image and likeness".

Why do people refer to it as the MsheU? There are still way more male characters than female characters, and even if there weren't, there's nothing wrong with female superheroes. I mean, I get that you prefer to look at men in skin-tight spandex with their bulging muscles, and that's fine, but calling the entire franchise a dumpster fire just because there's less male eye-candy for you to ogle isn't really fair.
