This is a good list of tools to start building your shop. One tool not mentioned that I wish I had bought a lot earlier is a brad nailer.

Air compressor, brad nailer, pin nailer. I grew up with a radial arm saw, and my dad never considered a table saw.

Try to get a California air compressor. They are very quiet. The inexpensive pancake compressors are so noisy and vibrate across the floor.

Swapping the circular saw blade to a high tooth count blade helps heeps for woodworking. They are sold with blades optimized for cutting construction grade products as fast as possible without much care for rough edges. Same goes for jigsaw.

Good video. I enjoy seeing your journey into woodworking. My first bandsaw was a 1945 Delta Milwaukee for $200 from a garage sale. The motor needed rewiring, a new tensioning spring, wheel bands, slapped on an aftermarket fence, and some other TLC totaling maybe another $300, but I still have that bandsaw to this day. I say that to let you know it's possible to get some great tools if you're patient and can put in a little elbow grease to bring it up to snuff. Great stuff, keep it up!

Nice, what a great find! We’re also a bit limited on space for now but long term I will definitely add a bandsaw to our shop :)

Pursuader, nice one. Since I started woodworking and other DIY myself, I developed some sort of love for some of the old jokes and sayings of my dad. Even though they don't translate well to englisch. That's a nice list of tools! I'd add a few things to the list: Chisels and a stone to sharpen them. You can do some neat / nice stuff with those. A guide rail or guide kit for the circular saw, and maybe also a mitre kit. With those and some sacrificial material, you can almost eliminate tear out and do almost the same cuts as with a mitre or table saw. For all the beginners I can say the following: Start with a set of decent hand tools. You can learn a lot of how different woods behave, how the grain works and how to avoid (costly) mistakes with power tools.

Thanks! Starting with hand tools is always a smart way to begin. I need to spend a little time myself getting more comfortable with chisels and such.

I buy one to two clamps every time I go to the hardware store lol. Less daunting that way XD I have... many measuring tapes, including 2 really flat/narrow tapes I can keep on me - comes in so handy when I go somewhere and suddenly need to measure something. Anyway, thanks for sharing!

Fun video. Great oration and attention holding by talking to camera naturally. Combination square, try square, framing square, and rafter square. This is how you end up with as many measuring and marking tools as all your other tools. I like handing people a hand saw and half inch chisel because they are the most versatile. You can basically do everything with a saw and chisel. Anything else just holds a blade in a certain way. They’re the uninhibited, Freeform version of all the fancier specialty tools.
