I think people should watch the 2004 Ford 400. Besides it being the final race of the first Chase system, it had some of the most exciting racing I’ve ever watched even though I was 2 years old at the time of the race. I will always remember Kurt Busch's tire coming off, comeback, and that nail-biting finish.

2012 Daytona 500. Monday night race because of a rainout, potential for weather throughout the race so the racing was very intense, and Juan Montoya hitting the jet dryer which almost resulted in the biggest upset in modern NASCAR history. Not to mention the tweet seen around the world. To me, this is a cornerstone race for modern NASCAR. This race had a major impact on the sport that I feel like not many other races have had since then. Also, bonus points for the Budweiser Shootout the week prior. Top notch superspeedway racing.

Every so often, i watch a few of the mid 2000s Talladega races, mainly 2003 races and 2004 fall. The race in 2003 spring had that HUGE crash on lap 4. Even after knocking out 20 cars, the 23 car field had some exciting racing and moments. Fall 2003 had Sadlers flip into 3 and Michael Waltrip winning. Fall 2004, Jr took 2 tires on a late caution and went from like 6th to 1st in a couple laps. Sadler flipped again coming to the checkered, then Jr cursed in victory lane. Classic stuff. :)

That 2014 Homestead race still aggravates me to this day as a Jeff Gordon fan. He had the best car and late in the race he and Alan Gustafson made a stupid call to pit. Jeff never had time to recover and finished tenth. I don't understand the call to this day.

The 1989 season is well worth a watch. One of the more famous Daytona 500s, the battle between Wallace and Waltrip at the Winston, the second most controversial race ever at North Wilkesboro, and a back and forth championship battle that came down to the last race of the season.

I would say for some old school road course racing I would watch the 1987 Winston Western at Riverside, especially for the part with Bodine and Earnhardt fighting for the lead, Bodine having either a better car or just being the better driver that day holding off Earnhardt who is pulling off every trick in the book, including a true pass in the grass, just to get the lead. Also Rick Hendrick drives the 25 car in that race.

1990 Valleydale Meats 500 is a favorite of mine. It's very chaotic and has a lot going on in it. I'm partial because it was the first race I attended in person, but it is a fun and frisky race with a lot of all-time hall of famers mixing it up with some future stars before they were in their iconic rides. For historic reasons I would say watch the 1992 Hooters 500. It's Richard Petty's final race. Jeff Gordon's first race. The closest championship under the old format. If you're in the mood for a double header I would suggest the 2013 Food City 500 followed by the 2013 Autoclub 400.

If you're a Jeff Gordon fan I'd suggest the 2007 UAW Ford 500 at Talladega. An often overlooked underdog win, a position you don't normally see Jeff in. In my opinion, it was his 2000 Dale Earnhardt moment at the same track.

Ah, fine year. Earnhardt finally gets a win in EVERY RACE POSSIBLE at the time with the Daytona 500 finally in his grasp. He also suffered a violent wreck at Talladega a few months later, yet rallied to a top points finish, held off by Jeff Gordon to the final race where the Kid had to win to clinch it. In Winston standings, he would be the last true champion until Martin Truex Jr in 2017 when he won Homestead to get the championship (Gordon's last championship and every other winner would have Matt Kenseth-ized it, or won it early)

Fire and iconic. The closest finish in Darlington's history prevented it from being demolished/sold off to SMI, and the 1992 Hooters 400 was the end of the Petty era, and the beginning of rivalries, especially the Gordon-Earnhardt era (1992-2001). It's also the start of the NASCAR renaissance with Western Expansion into California, Texas, Nevada

Besides the obvious ones that everyone knows about, I highly recommend these for significant reasons. 1993 Die Hard 500 at Talladega. This was the second full race weekend since Davey Allison passed away in the very infield of the track, in his home state. There's a very moving tribute to him before the race with Uncle Donnie driving the race car around the track, and his family being honored. Robby Gordon drove the car in the race, and perhaps trying too hard in Davey's stead for the team, encountered an unwanted result for him and the 28 team. For the race itself, this had the famous Jimmy Horton-Stanley Smith crash, where Horton flipped over the wall (there was no catch fence in Turn 1) and escaped uninjured, while Stanley Smith suffered a basilar skull fracture after a head-on collision into the concrete wall. Smith is one of only, I believe, 3 NASCAR drivers to survive this injury, and it came at a time when basilar skull fractures were taking drivers' lives too often. Neil Bonnett also flipped into the front stretch catch fence later in the race, which caused somewhere around a 2- or 3-hour delay to fix it. Then there was the finish, six drivers who either presently were or would become NASCAR legends battling for the win. This is one of those races I can throw on anytime and watch from beginning to end and not feel like I need to fast forward. 1994 Brickyard 400. This would be a watch just for the significance and the hullabaloo leading up to the race. I'd even suggest watching the time trials for it, as 88 cars showed up to try to make the field. But man, the race itself was fire. Dominant cars, lead changes, crashes, an argument/disagreement/"family problem" between siblings that spilled onto the race track, and a fantastic finish between the hometown favorite and the most serious threat to Dale Earnhardt for the championship that season. 1995 The Winston. In short, one moment in this race placed a young hotshot at the forefront of the sport's image, and relegated a couple of older veterans further back in line. 1997 Pepsi 400. This is more for the finish, but there was fantastic racing throughout for the Daytona July race. This race usually was processional, as the summer afternoon Florida heat caused handling issues for the cars so much that they couldn't race in tight packs, but this one was different. This was also the final July afternoon race at Daytona, as the race was scheduled for the night the next season with the installation of lights pending. A frantic ending, topped off by basically a manual GWC finish before it was officially called that, and the result was a dominant win from a fairly unlikely driver and team. That should get y'all started!

I'd prefer trying to find older races since I've been alive or started watching I mean next year will mark 25 calendar years of watching the sport. I also prefer watching older races over watching new encores of races this year I think you know why I say that, uh certain reasons I'd love to watch older races on the NASCAR Page, But sadly I get reminders of something, But were not gonna talk about on this one, but I like watching older races, I means there's another youtuber that airs replays of older races mainly from the 80's, into today. I found 3 today alone from Auto Club Speedway during its early years of the track. I do try to find those older races from my time I've been alive.
