HIIII!! So to take a little break from sewing, I decided to do an outfit-related video since it's been a hot minute since I've done one of those babehs. I've been having some problems picking out outfits lately, but the recent movie "Enola Holmes" sparked my creativity a bit and I wanted to make a few different outfits inspired by her character!

When it's done to fit the character better I'm fine with it too. But most of the time things are changed to look nice to us modern viewers. (Especially hair styles and make up) Which makes me ask - why even bother setting a movie in a certain time then? (Looking at you 2019 Little Women :D)

@@PiepMiau04 Idk - Little Women was intentionally anachronistic though. She aimed to create a romanticized, fantasy version of that world. Gerwig aimed to show us the world she saw in her imagination when she read the book. Idk, I'm explaining myself incredibly badly here, but from the perspective of an artistic or dramaturgical analysis of LW and it's emphasis on storytelling, imagination, memory and the timelessness of stories...it's quite clever. Dare I say this - I love Bernadette Banner but I don't think she "got" Little Women.

I think Abby, Karolina and Bernadette all have fun- I've never found them to take themselves too seriously. That they all love Rachel says a lot about them- I'm glad none of these people are snobs, they're just passionate people who love fashion.

I actually really enjoy these “use what you have in a creative way” videos. The sewing is fun and all but what’s the point of making/owning all the pretty things if you don’t get to play with them as well? Also basic tweed bitch is my *aesthetic* ALWAYS

Same. I love doing that with my own closet. You get inspired and try "bounding" like Disney bounding but for other characters and you put together items you would never think to before and realize how much it works, how cool it is together. I also love her layering thing. I used to do that all the time with dresses, putting the top down and wearing the dress like a skirt. My mom hated it haha. Or putting a skirt over a dress. It's hilarious because otherwise shes thrifty but it's not the way you "should" wear it so shes always hated it.

I'm glad you're not such a stickler for historical accuracy! I totally get wanting to educate others about their misconceptions about historical outfits but it's more fun to just be inspired by those eras and make it your own, which is definitely what you do. I wish I had your eye for those aesthetics.

Agree with you wholeheartedly! If all the costume movies were "historically accurate", they would be much less fun to watch, since in real life 95% of people used to be terribly poor and to wear dirty&boring dark-colored rugs through the huge period of history.

I love all of these, especially the more menswear inspired ones. Those outfit 10 boots are just *chef's kiss*. If floofy hair goes in style, I'll be in style. I've never straightened or blew dry my hair straight, although when my hair was shorter and layered, I'd have to tame the mane. But with hair to my waist, it just does it's thing. Lol. Mostly floofs!

@@Alice-mb3xf Kind of reminded me of what a modern Burton movie would be like. Similar actresses and actors (Helena Bonham Carter, that one who played Aunt Imogene in Alice In Wonderland, and Millie Bobby Brown {notice he uses a lot of actors who are known for horror movie roles - Shelly Duvall in the live action Frankenweenie, Vincent Price in his short called Vincent, and probably more} and I feel Millie Bobby Brown kind of fits), and just the lighthearted feel of the movie.

Sherlock Holmes was fiction to begin with and Enola Holmes seems like fanfic of that. So if it's not 100% Historically Accurate that should be perfectly acceptable and I will take on Bernadette and Karolina over this matter if you need backup.

You are correct! In none of the official Sherlock Holmes canon does he have a sister. As far as I know his only official sibling is Mycroft.

There’s actually a 6 part series of young adult novels based entire around Enola Holmes by Nancy Springer. It’s actually really good. And I enjoy reading it despite being 19 and not being a part of their 12-14 target audience.

You often make these super informative video's with soooo much detail and thoughts and things. I'm quite blown away by how much you can put in one video. I really loved Enola Holmes. My faves were Edith and Lestrade! And a Sherlock that shows emotion??? 🤯🤯 and also Enola didn’t actually hate her corset which I loved seeing!!
