Tanner, you were sort of right... Every human body has their own distinct smell. That smell is from your pheromones. They mostly come from your immune system. The subconscious mind wants to make offspring who is strong, not in physical strength, but in immune system and gene pool strength. So, if you notice, your significant other or crush smells good to you. Your subconscious mind is attracted to that person because they are strong in the sense of their immune/gene system. That way, if you produce children, they are "strong" and will be able to thrive. (I learned this last year as a sophomore in my biology class cuz someone asked how crushes work) (stay in school kids) edit: ThE mOrE yOu KnOw!

Actually the pheromones are produced by the endocrine system, not the immune system. The immune system, or known in the medical field as the lymphatic system, is responsible for our immune functions, absorption of fats, and body fluid regulation. The endocrine system is what controls our hormones, and pheromones are just one of the few hormones in our body. And you are correct in the way we can tell if we are compatible through scent, but that is also through the endocrine system. One way to remember is that the endocrine deals with external bodily fluids (most of the time) and lymphatic system deals with internal body fluids. And the pheromones they talk about when it comes to smell are external bodily fluids like sweat but are composed differently and come out of different glands. If you take any type of college class like Anatomy and Physiology you will go more in depth.
