Thank you for this cute video, sorry to hear about having to deal with burocracy, it looks like it is very much contaminated by the italian way of dealing with paperwork XD - If so, I won't take it too personal, it's just the usual pain. Although I have never lived in Ticino, listening to your fustration I smiled and remembered mine, while living in Rome :D (and I am italian ahaha)

Buon Giorno zämme! A few friendly comments: Palm Trees? No fog? Have you ever been to Basel? We have palm trees, fig trees, persimmon trees, amaryllis and lots of sunshine! I hardly ever see fog. Super cold in Switzerland? I moved from Vermont, a US state near Montréal. Winter and snow arrived in October and stayed to May. Winter temperatures typically fell to -30º every year. The coldest temperature was -50º!! During a normal winter there are always the two weeks where temps do not rise above -20º for a week or two. Drive drive drive? Are you guys even Swiss? I travel be train everywhere in Switzerland and in Europe: Paris, London, Amsterdam, Berlin, Munich, Vienna, Milan, Florence, Rome, Palermo-even Zürich. Merci! Grazie!

Great that everyone has his/her own experience. In our videos we talk about our personal experience. Living in a city for us - no thank you. Done that, never again. We love the countryside and nature. There travelling by train is a pain. So logically, we have a different experience - but are still swiss ;-)

Judging from photos, Basel is not even close to being as beautiful and natural as Ticino.

@@ode2reading You are right! Basel does not have the natural beauty of Ticino. I love Ticino. I spent my Honeymoon there. I visit often. Basel has perhaps the most pleasant weather in Switzerland. When other regions complain of fog week after week or high humidity, it is often quite temperate here. No one disputes that Basel is the cultural heart of Switzerland. Transportation is fantastic. We probably agree that Switzerland is simply a wonderful place to live.

we are from Ukraine and living in Ticino for almost a year, since the war started, I was very surprised to know that ticinese people are more conservative, then german speaking swiss... It would be very nice to hear from you pros and cons, similar video, about German speaking part of the Switzerland, as we are considering to move there for a work. Thank you for videos you putting out, we find it helpful and nicely made.

I never made the experience that Ticinesi don't like Swiss Germans or Germans. We had for years our weekend home in Valle Maggia in cute "Nucleo". Only positiv experiences. The Ostschweizer Cantons like St Gallen Thurgau and Appenzell feel much "colder" and people there are no fun, yet always correct.

"More Swiss than Swiss Germans" is so incredibly true. I lived in Ticino about 6 months and I was expecting it to be more liberal and relaxed than areas more close to Germany. It really surprised me to see the mentality of the Ticinese. There are many great people, however, and in the city of Lugano where I lived there are younger people with open-minded mentalities, but it's in the minority.

Thanks for this great introduction to life in Ticino. After having been on a road trip in Italy and having sworn (a lot) about Italian drivers and their reckless driving I would like to ask if people in Ticino drive like Italians or they are more civilized behind the steering wheel? Coming from Sweden it was quite a challenge to drive in Italy ….
@HolamundoCH
@HolamundoCH 6 ай бұрын
They tend to be lime italians. But as fines are superexpensive, people are more "tame" when driving.

Thank you for your video! Can I ask you about: Are traffic jams on the motorway in region Sorengo - Paradiso - Muzzano during the summer season? Is medical care in clinics and hospitals at a similar level as in the rest of the cantons? is it safe (a small number of robberies or home break-ins) ?
@HolamundoCH
@HolamundoCH Жыл бұрын
Oh yes, this area is very populated and traffic jams there are super common (esp. in the morning and early evening. Medical care and hospitals are of equal quality in all Switzerland. There is no difference. Additionally there are some private hospitals/clinics in Ticino. For safety - no issues. I mean, in the city, some robbery can happen like everywhere in the world. But for the rest: you can easily leave your house open during the day in the countryside. And it is always safe to walk around day or night.

How much cheaper is the dentist in Italy? I'm interested in getting some dental work done. 🤔 I've been across the border to Germany for some dental work but I didn't find it to be much cheaper.
@HolamundoCH

It very much depends on the dentist. I would say, it is 1/3 cheaper with better quality. Yes, Germany is not cheaper...at least for dentists.

Is Ticino too far from Zurich, Zug or other cantons that have higher salaries and employability in general? Does it take a long time on the highways to get to work in these cantons? If so, is it better to live in the north or won't it change much? I live in Brazil and here, if you work in a nearby city, it takes about an hour and a half to get to your place of work, I know Switzerland is small, but I wonder if the mountains get in the way.
@HolamundoCH
@HolamundoCH 11 ай бұрын
Yes, the mountains are in the way. There is a super long tunnel (16,9 km). It would take 1,5 hour to go to Lucerne. But with traffic jam it can take up to 6 hours. If you take the train, it is quicker and very reliable though.

Thanks for your video! Its was excellent! Do you have an opinion about job possibility in ticino area? Bolzano, Locarno or Lugano? Grazie Mille.
@HolamundoCH
@HolamundoCH Жыл бұрын
Sure, well Bolzano is in Italy, not Ticino. It depends in which sector you work. If you work in tourism/event business, Locarno has good options. Finance/law/IT Lugano has much better options. It is also more international oriented. If you are into trade, you might consider Chiasso as well (boarder town to Italy).

Is Swiss Italian very different than Italian in northern Italy? What's the best city in Ticino? Grazie! :)
@HolamundoCH
@HolamundoCH 8 ай бұрын
Concerning language: if Ticinese speak proper italian, someone who's native language is not italian will only hear a slight difference. But there are many dialects in the valleys so there are many "variations" of swiss italian. And this is very different. Best city - depends what you want of a city. For us, it is Lugano followed by Locarno. Then there is only Bellinzona and Biasca. Other places are much. smaller.
