My Grandmother is from Thomasville, AR, which is one of the few places not mentioned in these videos. Her town was destroyed when she was a kid and she had ptsd from it until she passed away at the age of 88 in 2010.

When describing the destruction of BLACK WALLSTREET I heard that both blacks and whites might me equally to blame for the destruction of Greenwood. This was pretty upsetting to me , and left me with 1 question. If blacks and whites was equally the blame for the destruction. Is there a white neighborhood that was destroyed and burned to the ground , and was there 100s of white people killed by blacks in the destruction of the white town? That is the only way the blame for the destruction of BLACK WALLSTREET could be considered equal. But I went back and relisten to it and you said the term RACE RIOT implies equal blame. These are such painful truths that were not taught to us in the schools. They told us about religious freedom sought by 'God fearing people'. Someone once told me that it takes 63 years to wipe out all traces of history to ignorant people like what was done as Africans were captured and brought to this country. They were not permitted to speak their language to each other, practice their faith that had brought them through centuries of wisdom and teach life skills to make it in America. We were also told that the jury system is a fair system. No way can hate and prejudice ever be fair to what is being taught in the home, churches and communities. Every time I hear about the greatness of the Confederate generals, I cringe. Every time I hear about their honor as they were taught in the Bible, I know that there is a special burn for them.

Just makes me think of all the people who have immigrated from other countries asking the question as to why it didn’t take them long to become more successful than us. They need to see this video. When you’re allowed to thrive without any interference, unless it’s positive interference, you’ll do better as a result. It can be as simple as your family having much easier access to business and home loans over just a few generations. One group experiences progression, while the other suffers regression. I get the feeling things would be much different, if not, for these historical events occurring along with the redlining among other factors.
