Spotify vs. KZfaq Music
THINGS I DON'T LIKE ABOUT KZfaq MUSIC (EARLY ACCESS)
Web-based is still in early access.
If you sign into KZfaq using a sub-account (channel) you can only sign into KZfaq Music with the main email account.
All the commands for Google Home don't work for KZfaq Music yet
Shared playlists don't open in KZfaq Music
Can't thumb up or down music in downloaded mixtape
Doesn't have uploaded music yet (from Google Play Music)
Play History is combined with KZfaq
No Android Auto Support
Fragmentation with certain features only available on Google Play Music
No Amazon Echo or Fire TV support
No Apple TV or HomePod support
Artists like The Beatles aren't available, but it is on Google Play Music
Chromecasting can be finicky (doesn't play the next song, it plays current song instead)
Low Bitrate (128 kbps) for now. They said an update will change that.
No podcasts like Google Play Music.

Reeta Tassberg and none are good 😂😂😂 The one thing that made me stay with YT Music is that they already knew what music I liked, from all my previous years of using YT, and also recomened good music in my taste. Spotify had awful awful recomendations and finding new music I liked was really hard. I used it for several months, and although if you plan to use it for free is much better than YT Music, the premium isn't.

@@JOVAHK11N Maybe this comment is a little late; I've to agree that not every single playlist that you get is the best for your own musical taste, but I have over 1,700 songs and take for granted that at least 300 of those came from the Discover Weekly playlist that Spoty gives you every week. You can tell that the algorithm doesn't always go non sense.

@@JoseteD if it works for you then great, but for the time I used it (Spotify was my first music service app I used regularly, and I was still discovering my own music tastes at the time) it always felt like I had to adapt my tastes to what Spotty wanted to hear, rather than the app adapting it's recommendations for my tastes. Who knows, maybe the algorithm got better since but I'm highly doubtful they can compete with Google in that regards.

Sorry Man. Spotify all the way. I like the interface and the recommendations and it lets me know what my friends are hearing, so that I can get myself exposed to new music. I tried YT music, google play music, but can't stand their UI. I like having the convenience of playing my music through different multiple devices via spotify connect with the tap of a button. Since, I'm a student, I get HULU bundled along with it, so it's a no brainer deal for me. I use Waze a lot when I'm driving and I can integrate spotify into waze and control my music with out switching between the apps. I even tried tidal and apple music, but always came back to spotify. I use it daily and it's been a part of my life. Good review though buddy, spotify works for me and YT music works for you. In the end, we all have different opinions and everyone are entitled to one.

Just as a note, Apple, and KZfaq now share the same bitrate if you use KZfaq Music's highest setting. I believe it's the same or very close. In the 200 bitrate zone and that means its basically negligible. Sure 320 would be better, but with so many options, what do you expect. KZfaq Music did say they don't expect to go beyond their current highest level, but most people don't have good quality headphones and it makes no difference when you aren't listening on a good set. That said, it should only effect audiophiles on the bitrate between Apple, YT Music, Tidal, and Spotify. Tidal doesn't give you an option to stream any less than 320 btw from my trial. So, if you have an average set of headphones like AirPods or ones that plug into the jack, don't even worry about the 256 to 320 bitrate. You won't notice. Seriously. Put it to the test. I'm getting a good pair of headphones so I'll have Spotify and KZfaq Premium and in turn YT Music. I'll use them differently for playlist making. Thanks for reading.

I’ve had Sirius radio since 2005. I can’t live without BPM! That’s all I need. The Live weekend DJ’s are incredible!! 💯💯💯 I’ve noticed that Spotify is popular, even though I don’t know much about it, but I guess I’m not popular. For me to switch over from Sirius/XM to Spotify, they would have to blow away their Live DJ sets. And I’ve never seen anything better out there.

Another quality upload as usual, Joe! For me (as a long time user of Google Play music for nearly 3 years) there are still some things about KZfaq Music that are keeping me from even trying it out at the moment: I'm very particular about my KZfaq subscriptions, history, and recommendations, so knowing that playlists and listen/play history get combined with KZfaq is a huge step backwards for me. I subscribe to news, tech, and educational content on here, not music! I want my music to be separate and not show up in my YT algorithm. That's huge for me, but I'm not sure if they view that as a downside or if that will ever get addressed... this is the number one reason I'm staying away for now. The other thing which probably will be sorted out sooner than later is the 128kbps audio. I'm not an audiophile, but I can tell the difference between 128 and 320 kbps at least. Sure, once you go higher up the ranks the ROI drops off, but it's a bummer they didn't launch with that in mind. Minor things for me are the lack of web interface (I use GPM's web interface daily, and I find it beautiful), and lack of the "locker" system of uploading your own music. I'd say nearly 1/5 of my library is from independent or local artists who don't have their music officially on any streaming service. But these minor flaws are slated to be fixed; it's just the top one about combining everything with KZfaq's history/algorithms that turn me off. Love to hear any thoughts on that specific point!

As a big electronic music fan, I picked KZfaq Music because it finally allowed me to listen to hours long DJ mixes with my screen off. Whenever I want to see what happening during the performance, I can switch to the video mode without disturbing the continuity of the audio and switch it back off again. It's so smooth and such a nice life hack...

I just wish that KZfaq would work on audio quality a little more

Spotify and Pandora are poor curators of content for my tastes. They pick alot of stuff I would never listen to based upon the things I do. I just said screw it and redigitized my entire CD and LP collection to higher quality (It took over a year) and spend more time playing my own library instead. I moved the upgraded library to the cars, Home Theater, etc and stream less. I do stream to discover new content but I would rather buy content and put it on my own servers the majority of the time. I can curate my own audio and video content libraries myself and maintain the storage. I use streaming as a supplement to my own content that I control, backup, and access as I need. Nobody can do you better than you. I am glad you have better success. I have found that KZfaq does a better job of finding and playing musical content more relevant to stuff I have actually listen to. Good job KZfaq. Having better quality files of stuff I don't want to hear isn't much of an advantage.

KZfaq music / Google play music / youtube premium on a family plan for $15/mo is far superior than any other service. the algorithms play exactly what i want based on that it truly does know more than i do. finding new music is also easier, you can sit there and actively dig through music you've never heard or seen before, old and new, and i've found it to be a really nice way of having some family time for the 5 of us sitting down and listening to what we found during the week. my only complaints are that i wish GPM and YTM were the same app, sometimes one will have a particular song and the other wont. also, if there is a single song i like from an artist, i have no option but to download the whole album on GPM, or switch apps to YTM and rummage around to listen to it.

Thanks so much for this review. I have seen so many negative reviews about KZfaq music, some of them are due to people not being used to the change, that it's refreshing to see a video with someone bold enough to talk about the positive aspects of the new service. I have also switched from Apple music to KZfaq music. The reason that I did that is that I enjoy the fact of seeing my favorite videos and live performances in combination with my favorite album songs. In the past, I would switch back-and-forth between Apple music and KZfaq music because I wanted to hear a live version of a song or a remix. Now, they are all in one place and I love it! I used a website named Www.tunemymusic.com to send all of my Apple playlists to KZfaq music and it’s been a nice ride since then. KZfaq Music is not perfect, but I believe that it has much potential. They say the are updates are constantly being made to fully merge KZfaq music with google music and make it a fully finished product. Until then when a person subscribes to KZfaq music, they also get Google music as well. Eventually, Google music will be phased out, but it is a good way to upload personal projects and tracks that may not be on KZfaq music until they fully merge the two services. I am enjoying KZfaq music for all the same reasons that you do and more. Thanks for speaking out about this topic!

Im switching from Spotify. They sure did find the sweet spot when it comes to price. Paying just 1-2$ more for add free KZfaq, which I watch a lot and getting access to an equally good music library in app that does basically what Spotifys app does. Its hard to argue with it if you are a music listener and also watch a lot of KZfaq videos. Im swedish so feel a bit bad for them, been using it for over ten years. But I just found myself not really using spotify that much and using KZfaq much more.

Some can hear the difference in sound quality of a CD vs. 320k MP3 or M4A file and it's been proven via ABX studies. With a trained ear and a modest Hi-FI system, it's difficult to listen to and enjoy a 320k MP3 or even a 256k AAC M4A file such as what YTM offers. There was reason for the Redbook standard of CD quality. It wasn't arbitrary. Many trained listeners hear the artifacts and missing information in the best compressed files, including myself, and that is why the engineers of the CD format specified the higher data requirement of Redbook (1411k/sec). MP3 was simply a compromised file format to accommodate the limited bandwidth of file streaming/sharing and the limited data storage of 20 years ago. It was never meant to be a replacement format or one for recording and serious listening purposes. It's called lossy for a reason. Today, every streaming and music download service has the means if they wish to offer true CD (1411k) quality files at Redbook standard via FLAC or ALAC and many end users have the storage capacity to accommodate it. No excuse. I will not pay for such services until they do off honest CD quality streams and downloads. I know many who will not. Tidal is the only one who does.
