It's no secret that I love Distress Oxide Inks and today I am sharing why i love distress oxide and the many ways that I use Distress Oxides in cardmaking. Distress Oxides can be used for stamping and tons of techniques to create backgrounds.

Best analogy I have heard about distress oxides (paint) and ink (stain). Since I don't own them I struggled to understand it. And I have recently ordered oxides and this makes me feel more confident about my choice. ❤ Thank you for a brilliant video 🩷🩷🩷

I've watched several of Tim's videos where he demonstrates oxides. And while I'm in awe of his creativity, somehow I was never moved to try them. NOW I want oxides.🤷🏻♀️ I think Tim owes you a commission.🤭😉

Perfect. I need to understand the difference in the 2. Funny I had no idea. There is a truly difference. I’ve been very unwell since November. I pray daily to get well. It’s been a very long 9 months. 🤦♀️ So I have folders for each of my 6 KZfaq friends for this.. We had a new home built. I’ve got a file cabinet. I have your names and the girls I’m following. I'm also a huge fan of distress oxides!! One of my favorite things is ink smooshing, drying between layers, then layering colors that would make mud with any other ink. To me that's a place that these guys really shine! You did a great job showing the differences for folks that may not be very familiar with them.

I've found them MUCH easier to blend than any other ink! They are so creamy and smooth, but they don't take forever and a day to dry! Love them!

"distress inks are more a technique ink than a stamping ink" ooooh yeah, I learned this by the worst and hardest way ever 😅 I love the Oxides, the colors are so bright and gorgeous and I love the chalk effect ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜 Sadly is not easy to find them here in my country (and is very expensive too), but is a lifechanging suply! I'm in love with the ones I have.

started stamping with distress inks and was disappointed as they didn't stamp well at all, now invested in oxides and they are fantastic - love them have tried techniques you showed and had fun and good results.

I love my Oxides so much. They are the ones that I buy every new color. I've even reserved them at Simon Says before knowing that the color is. Buuuuut, I have also fallen in love the with the new formulations of dye inks too. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/nb-pha2Fxq3DlZs.html I still think Oxides blend easier, but the new dye inks are AMAZING for stamping. SIGH. it's so hard to just pick one 😂

I wish I had seen this Video before I bought the entire set of Distress Inks. I do a lot of stamping and couldn’t figure out why I couldn’t get a distinct image from them. Especially with sentiments. Then I heard someone from Ranger say that they weren’t designed for stamping. Thanks for sharing! Now I know why I should invest in some more colors of Oxides.

They are still great inks to have, but yes, definitely better for techniques than stamping. :( Whereas I do really love to even stamp with the Oxides. I am thinking about a video sharing how to use regular Distress and Distress Oxides together, so stay tuned for that as you collect some more Oxides! I love regular distress inks for blending, and they do fabulous sunrises, sunsets, and under the sea scenes, but I found out the hard way you can’t stamp with them! When I watched your video And saw that I could stamp with the distress oxide inks, I was sold! Thank you for this great tutorial! I can’t wait to try watercolor painting with them also!

Thank you for this video!! I needed this! You gave very clear distinctions between the two inks, and the analogy with paint vs stain cleared things up immensely!! Wonderful video, so informative. I do have all of the Oxides, but even still you reminded me of things I haven’t done with them, like the water coloring. Thank you for taking the time to put together such a great comparison. 🙂

I have all the oxide colors and love them. My favorite thing to do is blending and I do enjoy smushing because you never know exactly how it will turn out. Thanks for the info and the pretty card samples!💜

Wow; I've always wondered but never explored how they work. The only question remains why anyone would use the distress ink given how versatile the oxides are. I haven't bought them and now will. Thank you.I love videos like this where we can see actual, tangible differences

I am so glad it was helpful! I do know people who still use regular Distress Inks for techniques and who prefer the look of watercoloring with them, but the Oxides are my go to number one faves! :)

started stamping with mini distress inks and was really disappointed with results, now invested in the oxides and love them - have tried your techniques myself with the same results and very happy and now have fun stamping and don't get frustrated with the result. Love ink smooching.

They are lovely cards and idea's Thankyou ..The problem I have with the oxides of which I have quite a few is having to heat dry them when I don't have much room to keep my drying tool on the small area I work on but other than that they are beautiful colors ..

Another amazing video! I have been going back and forth on whether or not to invest in Distress Oxide inks. I have all the Distress inks in the mini size. I purchased my first Distress Oxide last week and practiced blending over the weekend with my new blending brushes. 😀 It was amazing. Even with my poor blending skills. Thanks for showing how versatile these inks are. Your video was so timely for me.

That makes me so happy to hear! They make SUCH a difference! I tend to be way to heavy handed with Distress Inks (with everything really lol) and so I end up with lots of harsh lines. No more with Oxides! Now they are my go-to ink. I love all the bright colors too!

Thank you for explaining & showing the different results. It helps justify the price difference between the two types of inks. Being a newbie it's hard to know what's worth the expense and quality of products.

Oxides are my go-to ink and I use them for everything, so you're right it does justify the price for me. I have never bought as many of one type of ink before. Usually I just buy a few of my favorite colors. That's how I started with Oxides too, but as I learned how much I love them, I bought more and more!

I have yet to try these. I've been eyeing those 12 packs on Simon Says Stamp for about a week now. Those particular packs are sold out in all the Australian craft stores currently so that tells you how popular they are! Thanks for this!

This is such a great video! Thank you so much Rebecca. You cover the essentials on blending but you cover a LOT more as well. I can't believe I never thought to stamp using oxides. The point about the water effect is so helpful as well - I actually really don't like how oxides react to water (especially for warm tones) but if you hadn't mentioned it I never would have realised why it is it looks so different. Is there any chance I can convince you to do a video on using splatter for distress oxides please?
