After living in Toronto for almost 4 years, I agree with your points. I’ve taken a break from Canada myself. Hope the government gets its act together, such poor planning. I feel for young folks there.

I agree with all of your reasons. I moved to Canada in 2017. Even after 8 years, I couldn't get a job in Canada. In all these years, I am working remotely for US based companies which doesn't have benefits. I applied to a lot of jobs in Canada, but they don't even call for an interview (even though I have a proven profile and is the top in a field). With more than 100k/annum as salary, i struggle due to high tax, high mortgage interest rate (no savings whatsoever). The only reason I stay in Canada is due to my wife. She doesn't have a job but she likes Canada because she is a liberal communist... This year after doing the snow shoveling, i got a tennis elbow. It hurts almost everyday, but have to suffer until I go back to India for a medical checkup. Now, Canada is considering departure penalty of $25000 with double departure tax, it becomes difficult for people who are Canadian citizens to even leave the country.

Thank you for sharing your experience. I understand how frustrating and challenging it can be to find stable employment and deal with the high cost of living. It’s especially tough when you have a strong professional background and still face these hurdles. It’s important to prioritize your health and well-being, and I hope you get the medical attention you need soon. The potential departure penalty and tax are definitely concerning and add another layer of complexity for those considering leaving. I hope things improve for you and your wife, and that you find a path forward that brings you both happiness and stability. Your perspective is valuable and I appreciate you taking the time to share it.

Awesome and great information. You hit the nail on the head. As of last Friday, unemployment went up 6.1% those are government numbers. Real numbers are very high. Is the process to move to Spain difficult for a Canadian ? Many Thanks for your time

Thank you so much for your kind words! I’m glad you found the video helpful. Moving to Spain does involve a few steps, such as obtaining a visa and sorting out residency requirements. It can be a bit of a process, but it’s definitely manageable with some planning. If you’re seriously considering it, it might be worth looking into the specifics based on your circumstances. Best of luck, and thanks for watching!

Agreed totally with your points and assessment. I grew up in the GTA area, left one year after university graduation. However came back in late 2021 after almost 20 years away and totally regret it. I am trying to leave again once I can settle the school issues with my kids. Since coming back I have never felt so unhappy for the exact reasons in your video.

Spain offered a Golden Retirement program, where if a person invested money into Spain, as in purchasing real-estate, you were given a 3yr renewable residency. However I understand that program is being canceled by the new government

A failed drama teacher as PM, a journalist as finance minister, a radical criminal activist as environment minister, a mistress as foreign minister. A transport minister who has been convicted 3 X for drinking and driving. Last but not least, an alliance formed with another party, whose leader (Jagmeet Singh) supports terrorism against a friend and strategic ally. What could possibly go wrong?

Being bilingual in Spanish and English, I would consider Spain. Having lived in Michigan for 48 years, I know I would not like the long Canadian winter. One of my husband's coworkers here (EXTREME left thinking) once was singing the praises of the "free health care" in Canada. He wasn't kidding my husband; we have family and friends in Canada that have told us the truth about it. Here in Colorado, we wait around 45 minutes to an hour for ER attention.

I lived in Toronto in yrs 2014-9, currently resident of Switzerland. Canada has a special place in my heart but this will not pay my bills. It is terrifying how many ppl are homeless, how screwed job market is, how high taxes are. I have no issue with so called woke culture as long as policies makes sense. I am far away from being conservative, but migrant myself I think those who want to live in another country have to obey the rules and respect the local culture or leave.

Thank you for sharing your experience. I understand the deep connection you feel to Canada, even though it doesn’t always translate to a sustainable living situation. The issues you mentioned, like homelessness, the job market, and high taxes, are real challenges that many face. It’s important to find a place where you can thrive both emotionally and financially. I agree that respecting local culture and rules is essential for anyone living in a new country. I appreciate you taking the time to share your perspective, and I hope Switzerland continues to be a place where you can find stability and happiness.

@@khadijaennassiri6180 On the very general level, I will advise against moving from Switzerland to Canada, but devil lies in details. The move, I will investigate on a few levels. 1. Financial: Standard of living in Switzerland is higher and taxes are lower. Canada is a federation but in general taxes are higher but different between provinces. Rent is expensive. I will advise against moving if cannot find one bedroom, which is 2.5 rooms, with max 33% of gross salary. There is no such rule in Canada, but paying 50% will make life hard. Studios are small and living with roomates is extemely hard. Prices of almost anything are higher in relation to salary There is a universal healthcare but it can be slow so premium is often needed I will say, that moving to places like Toronto makes no sense with salary less than 100k annually 2. Lifestyle/politics North America is very car centric, it is possible to live in central Toronto without a car, but suburbs and countryside is car dependent Canada is very multiculutral which can be shocking . It is hard to find a leading or mainstream culture Due to city size it can be hard to live outside Toronto and Vancouver and commute o work, it mean 1 and half hour for many people Canadian residents are less punctual than Swiss, more relaxed, easy going and spontaneous in general. As I said this is not a bad trait, but I found it annoying and I prefer Switzerland and Ordnung. Canada is very liberal and progressive, much more than Switzerland which can be good or bad 3. Size Canada is the second largest country in a world. Municipal areas like Greater Toronto Area (GTA) is of a size of Swiss cantons It takes more than 4 hours by plane to get from Toronto to Vancouver. Traveling back to Europe is long and expensive Cities are huge and sprawled, 100 km is not a distance For me personally when it comes to lifestyle or culture Canada and Switzerland are close to be polar opposites. I have a lot of good memories related to Canada, but Switzerland is my forever home hopefully as I relate more to Swiss lifestyle. Canada is a beautiful country with a lot of potential, but is struggling with house criris, cost of living crisis and this is all much worse than in Switzerland. I strongly advise to check places like Numbeo and places with rent to check costs. From my experiences numbeo underestimate costs of food etc and rent so this is all higher.
