I love so many things about traditional knives. I like that knives were usually tailored to a trade. Love discovering old knives and like you, I wish they could tell their tales. Great video!

I still have the IXL Barlow knife my parents gave me as a present @ 55 years ago. One of most treasured possessions. I'm not a collector but find the subject interesting.

Great video Slippy totally agree with you. Also, I think using a traditional slipjoint knife (or modern traditional) gives you an appreciation for knife safety because you have to be a little more aware of how you’re using it.

I think it's good to own 1, a Victorinox, and some sort of Knifeless version of Multitool, just for the simple fact if knife laws change. I like your points about using the knife when we were younger, that nostalgia feeling.

This is a great video, really nice to watch and listen to👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 Beautiful stuff there on the table. The pragmatist in me says all you truly need is a two or three layered Victorinox, but these traditionals are so much fun to collect, handle and just look at. 🤘🏻

Great video Slippy! I am sold! LoL! Very good points here. That Remington is almost 100 years old and it still looks and works great! Thought that would have been your most expensive knife in this showing . I really like Buck hollow grind and extra spring on there stockmans, so the blades dont rub. I will have to pick one up for sure!

Nice collection Slippy. So true regarding the personality and character of traditionals compared to modern pocket knives. No one is going to be discussing the beauty of G10 scales in a 100 years. The history/heritage factor is so cool along with the natural materials and how innovative makers were before mass production machining. I’m searching for a traditional I can use on a daily basis and will hopefully become a family heirloom. Lionsteel Barlow is where I’m heading at the moment. Beautiful knife, a few handle material options and I’m partly Italian so it would be a bit of a shout out to my Grandparents on one side.

Nice video, thank you. I think in the UK something obviously traditional is the sensible choice for a quiet life, because being old fashioned and a little eccentric is seen as rather endearing if anything. Whilst my interest has mostly been in Sheffield knives, the sheer variety in all those American patterns makes it a fascinating area to explore for those cursed with the collecting gene.

Absolutely great video,, I love Rough Ryder knives, as you say, you can start a collection, for a reasonable amount of money,, I've only ever bought 2 Case knives, the first took me a lot of work, to make it acceptable, and the second one, I sent straight back to HH for a refund, it was rubbish,, I'll never order another Case,, but, RR, on the other hand, are superb for the price point,, 😊

When it comes down to it I get more of a charge out of getting a new Traditional or Modern/traditional. There's no rhyme or reason to my purchases beyond potential usage and Traditionals are great for this. I've stopped buying RRs because I got sick of receiving lemons but the Marbles and Queen knives are fine. A nice variety on display here, good stuff!

You didn't show the Texas Toothpick or what looks like a Barlow with a stag handle. I think the Stockman pattern is the most versatile. A Victorinox Huntsman is my EDC -- so many useful tools.

Slippy wow impressive collection but yes I concur I prefure slip joints for nostalgia and legal carry its what I carve with no fancy locks or tools used in my carving 👍🦊🐾🇮🇹

My dad and grandpa carry these types of knives and I’m not a big fan of having multiple blades I’d rather have a Swiss Army knife for more versatile are then any old knives that have can opener bottle opener instead of 4 blades
