@@bladestar2322 You sure about that? She deserves more hate than serial killers, child molesters, dictators, wife beaters, murderers (no she didn't as there isn't any proof), drunk drivers who kill people, Hitler, Pol Pot, rapists, etc. Do you see where I am going with this? I don't love her, and I don't hate her. I am quite honestly ambivalent about her. Until I watched this video, I hadn't thought about her in years, but apparently she lives in people's heads. I don't get it. She hasn't done anything to anyone in the KZfaq comments personally, but she gets all of the bandwagon hate. She hasn't even been in the news for years. She was clearly a drug addict and has borderline personality disorder. Anyone wonder if she had an abusive childhood? Kurt was a drug addict and was depressed. Do you think it was easy to be married to him? There are always two sides to a story. Dave Grohl wasn't in the marriage, so whatever he says doesn't matter. Men say things to other people all the time - like when they tell the other woman their marriage is basically over. So when Dave says Kurt said this, it doesn't make it true. In fact, it doesn't even mean Kurt said it at all. I get the impression Dave is more of a drama queen than Courtney. Sorry for the overly long rant, but geez, people, let it go. Move on. Courtney has.

Another good one is "Miracle Man" by Ozzy. For those who don't know, it's aimed at televangelist Jimmy Swaggart, who spent the better part of the 80s slandering rock music and especially Ozzy before being exposed as an adulterer. As expected, Ozzy had a lot of fun calling out "Jimmy Sinner" for his hypocrisy.

The Wilson sisters continuously shot themselves in the foot over the decades for being notorious as two of the most difficult musicians in the industry to work with...the manager/producer/publicist (they have all been blamed at different points) was/were obviously pigs, but the sisters behavior through their careers diminishes some of the sympathy I would normally have for them...

Honorable mention, Eeyore by Slipknot, about a mosh pit bully nick named Thor. the guy was tall, long blond haired thug, who was at every show, and, just knocked fans around, so, Corey wrote the lyrics, the band provided the music and all the fans beat up Thor during the song's debut

I’m really glad you mentioned this track, I love the song and the backstory is amazing. I’m glad the dude got what he deserved in the end. Another track to be mentioned is Get This also by Slipknot. There was some band in their early days that tried to claim that the success of Slipknot came from that group which pissed off the guys so they wrote Get This. "Silly Love Songs" by Paul McCartney One of the cheerier diss tracks in music history, this song was a direct response to comments from McCartney's former bandmate John Lennon, who derided McCartney's song "Yesterday" as nothing more than a silly love song. Paul decided to fire back in song, with the thesis of the entire song being 'So what? There's nothing wrong with love songs and I'm going to keep writing them.' And then that song became the highest-charting song of 1976.

"Go your own way" by Fleetwood Mac is Lynsey Buckingham taking a shot at Stevie Nicks after their break up. She's gone on record several times saying that she found the lyrics "Packing up. Shacking up is all you wanna do" very hurtful and disrespectful. She also says that she wrote the song "Dreams" as a counterpoint of sorts, acknowledging that things were bad at the time but she could see a day in the future were they would get past all the pain and hurt and be OK.
@CSXIV
@CSXIV Жыл бұрын
Those songs are from Rumors, which is practically a whole album of insult songs. "Go your own way" wasn't the only "I hate you Stevie" song on that album, and Dreams wasn't the only "bite me Lindsey" song on that album (Gold Dust Woman is more biting in my opinion). "You make loving fun" is Christine telling John "my new bf is so much better then you," and The Chain is every member of the band screaming at each other. On the flip side, Don't Stop is "this drama will blow over eventually," which considering that Fleetwood Mac managed to stay together was kinda true.

A couple other rock diss tracks that come to mind Guns N Roses infamous “Get In the Ring” where Axl straight up rants for like a whole minute “Caught Like A Fly” by Falling In Reverse. A song where Ronnie Radke, after feeling betrayed by Max Green, mentions the abuse Max’s father gave him (“you have left my heart black and blue/just like your father did to you”), says that Max’s late grandfather would’ve been ashamed of him, addresses his drug addictions, and tells Max that when he dies, he will be smiling and will have sex with his girl. Funny enough, Ronnie and Max buried the hatchet later on and Max played bass for Falling In Reverse for a while years later. “Life Lessons Learned The Hard Way” by A Day To Remember is a very scathing diss aimed at Hunter Moore that heavily implies that the band members of ADTR at one point parked a van out by his hotel garage with the intentions of beating the shit out of Hunter with a tire iron. “Coattails of a Dead Man” by Primus hasn’t been outright stated, but seems very heavily implied to be about……Courtney Love, of course “Starfuckers Inc” by Nine Inch Nails, also aimed at…..Courtney Love! (And Marilyn Manson) “Aesthetics of Hate” by Machine Head is a very brutal tirade against a journalist/music critic who said disgusting and disrespectful things about Dimebag Darrel after he was killed

I watched the whole video just waiting for Death on Two Legs. I love that song so much and its almost humorous to listen to the lyrics and how far Freddy went. Insults Including (But not limited to): -Misguided Old Mule -Big-Talking Small Fry -Hot Air Balloon -Overgrown School Boy -A Dog with Disease -King of the Sleaze ...as well as other lines such as: -"You never had a hart of your own." -"You can kiss my ass goodbye." -"Do you feel like suicide? I think you should." -"Insane, should be put inside." All this on the opening song of Night at the Opera, the album that, by most accounts, is Queen's masterpiece. All this on the same album as You're My Best Friend, Love of my Life, and Bohemian Rhapsody. Crazy.

One interesting note about 'Bye Bye Beautiful'- Nightwish were aware of the danger of having Annette sing an attack song about Tarja, so she doesn't. The vocals alternate between Marko and Annette, and all Annette's lines are very abstract and deal with the subject only very loosely, whereas Marko sings all the lines that are obviously a direct attack on Tarja's perceived actions and attitude. Of course Annette herself would go on to leave in acrimonious circumstances, though exactly who was truly to blame for that is debatable.

@@mkjk1564 Speaking about what the song is about, Pantera's drummer Vinnie Paul said: "The story behind this song is we were opening for Megadeth, and there was a guy that was flipping us off the whole show and so we stopped the show. And I was like, 'Listen, in case you haven't noticed there's 18,000 people who really dig what we're doing. You're the only one doing that stupid shit without even having to egg the crowd on.' Ten guys just jumped the guy and beat the shit out of him. His dad called the manager after all the lawsuits and this and that, and basically said, 'Give me five minutes with that Phil Anselmo guy. I want to whup his ass.' "[1] Pantera's vocalist Phil Anselmo spoke about what the song is about saying: "There are always gold-diggers out there. The way I remember it was there was this kid that swore that I jumped off the stage and beat him up. Well, that was bullshit. That did not happen at all. When the father asked for five minutes alone with me, our manager responded aptly and perfectly: 'No, you don't.' [Laughs] 'I really doubt that,' and basically hung up on the guy. But once that story was conveyed to me, it actually made me angry because it wasn't fucking true. I basically plucked out those words from my agitator's mouth and yeah, man, 'five minutes alone,' fucking bring it."[1]

He commented once that the song was referencing a different relationship, when someone inquired if that was his response to Call Me When You're Sober. He stuck to never responding to Amy. I kind of feel like that's an even bigger eff you lol

@@chadhenry961 I wondered about that one, too, considering lines like "Good God, you're coming up with reasons" and "you're such a f*cking hypocrite" are typical breakup sentiments.

Devin townsend has a few.: S.Y.L about a shitty former job, Happy Camper about shitty music execs, and his “Cooked on Phonics, Punky Bruster” album which mocks pop punk, bands that change their sound to follow popular trends they don’t actually like just to make money, and possibly the aforementioned music execs that wanted him to go pop punk

Anthrax had a similar experience touring with Motley. The song "Nobody Knows Anything" is about that experience and Charlie Benante intentionally drums rings around Tommy Lee on that track.

Tommy, as good as he is/was, was never in the same league as Charlie when it came to drumming. Not even close.

Alestorm once went on tour with Gravedigger, and the two bands hated each other. In one interview, Chris Boltendahl -- the lead singer of Gravedigger -- called Alestorm a "rumpelkombo". As far as anyone can tell, he made up the German word to describe Alestorm as a bunch of clowns. So Alestorm wrote a song called "Rumpelkombo". It's only two seconds long, comprised of a brief keytar riff and shouting "Rumpelkombo!" And Boltendahl was credited as a writer on "Rumpelkombo", meaning Boltendahl was entitled to royalties every time that song is played in recording or in concert. The amount of the royalties depends on the length of the song, and the song is literally two seconds long. The upshot is that Alestorm plays "Rumpelkombo" in literally every single one of their concerts. And every time they do, they send Gravedigger a royalty check worth less than the paper it's printed on. That's some god-tier trolling right there.

“Sweet Home Alabama” is a good example too. I’m sure most people know this by now, but it was directed at Neil Young because the members of Skynyrd felt that his songs “Southern Man” and “Alabama” were generalizing Southerners as being racist when segregation was really being recognized as nonsensical. Neil later admitted that “I don’t like my words when I listen to it. They are accusatory and condescending, not fully thought out, and too easy to misconstrue.”

Death On Two Legs was my first thought when I read the title of this video. It's one if my favorite Queen songs and I always figured it was about their management. Happy to see it on this list! As a music living baby boomer, let me just add these to the list: "You're No Good", first recorded by DeeDee Warwick (Dionne's sister) and of course by many others including Linda Rohnstad. Bob Dylan's "Positively 4th Street" is one continuous insult from start to finish. Positively brilliant!
