I realize there are potentially more rules for safe mosh pit activity, but these are the main 10 that I thought were important to give. If you agree with these rules, please share this video with any beginner(s) you are concerned about.

Nice video. I felt bad because on my first mosh pit I kind of broke the 10th rule, glad it was a very very friendly mosh pit and my friend (who I dragged in) ended up having fun. No injuries that day! Only another friend of mine headbumped me but we both apologized and ended up laughing about it :D

Thank you. It's good that you feel bad because it means that you are someone who genuinely wants to make sure everyone involved in a pit actually wants to be there and have fun while doing so. Great job to you and your friend for acknowledging that you should apologize if you take things too far. Keep having fun and stay safe.

One more rule if ya don’t mind; no karate dancing in the mosh pit. A lot of people can’t stand it when people swing their arms and also include untamed kicks that are swung around really visously. Other than that, I like your rules.

You are quite right. Karate, while sadly minimally used, should not be used at all as it is dangerous not only for the people in the pit but also for the person doing said moves as it could anger people and cause them to confront that person later and things could escalate and nobody wants that. I make it a habit to tell security if someone is getting carried away and causing problems that is ruining it for everyone.

I am trying to make this simple. 1. When you get hit - you can hit back but don't knock out the other that hits you. You will be thrown out of the pit! 2. You see someone fall in the pit - help that person back up. You refuse - you will also be thrown out. 3. When you are the edge of the pit, never "sucker punch" people that are actually in the pit. You will be kicked out of the place that has the moshing and you won't be able to mosh again for the night! 4. Don't go into the middle of the wall of death unless you are physically ready to be crushed. Otherwise - never commit to that!

I would love to join a mosh pit if it weren't for my crippling social anxiety 😂

Everyone is equal in the pit. And as long as you stick to the rules, nobody is judging.

This is actually a common thing that holds people back. I would suggest smaller pits for you. The smaller the pit the better for your social anxiety. Don't start with huge pits as that may cause a panic attack which can be dangerous for you.

One of the most recent concerts I had went to there was a guy purposely doing cartwheels into the edge of the crowd and another guy who jumped up on stage and started bashing down on the heads of those in the front. I have since termed the phrase Metal Manners after seeing that lol
@UndertakerJr

Wow. None of that was ok. Those people should have been booed by everyone. If it was 5 Finger Deathpunch, they would have stopped the concert until those two were escorted out.

I will say the type of pit really depends on what kind of show you go to. A hardcore or deathcore pit is way different than a metal pit. A lot of pits at hardcore/deathcore shows you are going to get kicked, punched, or hit in general.

Yeah I’ve never been a fan of metal pits. They’re very boring. Just a bunch of dudes kinda jumping against each other. Hardcore pits were always a blast and I’ll be experiencing my first deathcore pit this Saturday lol.

Hopefully this will help me at the Slipknot concert I'm going to. Any advice on moshing when you have facial piercings? Like lip and nose piercings etc?
@UndertakerJr
@UndertakerJr 8 жыл бұрын
My most common response will always be mosh at your own risk. If they are small you will be fine. But if you have larger nose rings and lip rings you run into the chance of getting caught on someone and having it ripped off. While this is rare it is still possible. The things to really worry about would be plugs in your ears, the larger the ear plugs you have, the bigger the chance of injury. I hope this helps and please, feel free to let me know how your experience went.

is ther any age restriction on moshing? i have 11 y.o. friend and he wants to mosh with me. sadly, i never moshed before. should he mosh?
@UndertakerJr
@UndertakerJr 3 жыл бұрын
It depends on his size. If he is rather big for an 11 year old then it's possible. But if he looks his age many moshers would suggest that he stay out until he is a bit bigger and older. This is for his safety and theirs because if he were to get hurt then his parents could sue the place the pit occurred in. So it is best for him to wait until he is 18.

I suppose this happens in the center more or less, right? if I'm on the sides of everyone will I be safe? I'm going to a festival alone, I'm a young lady, not even 5'1" tall and I'm afraid of being crushed like a mosquito. My solution is to stay behind everyone... but I paid like them to enjoy... idk
@UndertakerJr
@UndertakerJr Ай бұрын
Yes, if you are behind people, you should be fine. If you are at a show where they try to force people in, make sure that you have one trusted person with you that 1) won't push you in themselves because they think it's funny or that you'll learn to enjoy it and 2) who will be willing to grab you and pull you out of harm's way. Some pits, depending on the type of show, can be mellow, where they just go round and push a little while others can be quite violent. Always make sure you have trusted friends to keep you safe!!

Should young ones mosh I’m going to a concert and my little brother wants to mosh and I’ve never moshed before so far I’m saying no but if their are any moshers out there
@sydney9522

it really depends on the crowd. some mosh pits are more aggressive than others. ur little brother will prolly be fine in the end tho. this is hella late btw
@UndertakerJr
@UndertakerJr 3 жыл бұрын
It really isn't recommended for young ones to mosh, but, that also depends on size and age. Most locations actually frown upon moshing as it is a liability for them but they have a tendency to overlook it if they see that rules are being followed and things aren't getting out of hand. It's an even bigger liability for them if kids get involved as there is a stronger chance that they will lose any lawsuit that parents come at them with. As a bit of a thrill for them I would say let kids get close enough to see what is going on in a pit but don't actually let them in, this is both safe and thrilling for them as then can see what happens in a pit without getting in and getting hurt. But I would strongly suggest small children even be held back so as not to be accidently thrown or pushed in. In small pits, generally a Mosher with sense will immediately remove children so they don't get stepped on. In bigger pits it is not as easy to wrangle kids out and this will annoy many people and cause some sort of scene where a few irritated people will yell at the person the child belongs to resulting in the show being ruined for both parties involved, especially the child.
