The Beatles Bigger Than Jesus quote was the most infamous from The Beatles. But it’s also most misleading. The whole reason: John was talking about fans thinking of them as gods, which they are not. John also highlight about youngsters lack of religious faith. John isn’t wrong about fame and how fans are with their idols, even to this day.

Curiously, the British public shrugged off the quote. My family and friends understood what Lennon meant. It was only the holier-than-thou crowd in the USA, which burned the now-highly-collectible albums; but, then, they're the ones who believe the universe was created seven days ago, and that the flat Earth is at the center of it. :p

Peter Jackson's restoring of the Let It Be sessions, the three part Get Back, shows that in spite of the arguments, The Beatles were not totally over at that point. They were just close to that event, because they were yet to produce their last studio album Abbey Road. That album does actually show they were breaking up. The collaborations on it are less involved and more a sign that they were working on on each others own songs, no longer a cohesive unit.

Choosing Klein over the Eastmans was a fatal mistake. I don’t know how Paul failed to convince the lads.
@jw-nz2vx
@jw-nz2vx 6 ай бұрын
They were mad at Paul because he had become something of a control freak with respect to the band's musical direction. John and Paul were eternally jealous of each other, while George and Ringo were feeling like the other two (but especially Paul) didn't respect their musical contributions to the band. Paul treated George like his kid brother even though they were only about a year apart in age, and Ringo felt like a glorified session musician. Sometimes when you're upset at someone you don't care how right or wrong they are.
@ardenaudreyarji
@ardenaudreyarji 6 ай бұрын
@@jw-nz2vx Yeah, all of that was apparent in Peter Jackson’s Get Back documentary. I think Paul was too busy in his own head. George couldn’t really speak his mind on lots of things especially in front of Paul. I feel like John could’ve really turned things around because I saw him read the room real quick, he would make jokes & get goofy when everyone was getting in each others faces, but I think he was on his way out at that point.

I don’t blame them for worrying a bit about the Eastmans, since Paul already was a bit controlling and this would give him an upper hand. They should have looked into a 3d alternative. Legend has it that Klein bribed Yoko by offering her money for a film project, and John did whatever Yoko wanted. John was incredibly bad at judging people unfortunately, Klein looks and acts like a crook and Mick Jagger warned them against him.

John Lennon's 1966 infamous "bigger than Jesus" statement wasn't far wrong?... if you go back & take a good hard look at footage of The Beatles 1964 tour of Australia🇦🇺 of the unbelievable massive crowds in Adelaide & Melbourne it was like people coming to see 4 gods!, on the contrary The Beatles were actually 4 God gifted talented young men who changed the world in a way that attracted so many people to go & see them & Australia🇦🇺 really showed their admiration, almost half a million people in Adelaide turned out in the streets to see them & Melbourne wasn't far different?, so many many people shoulder- to-shoulder in the streets is an incredible sight to see on that black & white footage I doubt if any other musical phenomenon could attract THAT many people on an incredible massive scale ever again??, God bless The Beatles 🙏, thank you John,Paul,George & Ringo.🎶🎵😊

I think Yoko was wrong. I don't think John would have bothered. He had the right attitude.. The Beatles were great in their time together but it's in the past they have all moved on and done their own thing. John's opinion was they were best remembered for how good they were and their legacy lives on. He also said that he wasn't totally opposed to playing together again but only if all 4 of them wanted it and at the same time.. Which would probably never happen because they were all busy with their own projects.. The closest we got was when Paul George and Ringo got together and jammed at George's home in the early 90s.. But it's never gonna be the beatles without John

I believe it's possible Julian's drawing may have been a source of inspiration for the song but it's difficult to believe such an elaborate title and (seemingly) overt nod to LSD in sound and lyrics just happened coincidentally. I don’t basically all The Beatles songs with drug references were kinda oblique
@wilhelmhagberg4897

It becomes academic really. The song is obviously very drug inspired, so even if the title didn’t conciously spell out LSD it’s still very much a LSD song.

Nice but a bit inacurate. Correction Abby Road was not recored "after' Let it be. Most of the tracks were recorded concurrrently. After having many good songs the "Abby Road" album was put together as a better selection of tunes ( of course it was) leaving the more or less "left over" tunes becoming Let It Be later when capitol records scrambled to but togeter a last album for release (of course more ka ching for Capitol) as the Beatles had already broken up and were on their own projects in early 1970 when let it Be came out in May of that year. Abby Road was realsed in the fall of 1969. I was there and lived though it. The Beatles also quit playing live not becuase of Brian as this says ( Paul has stated many times) but becuase they could no logner hear themselves from massive high DB crowd noise( which pleagued them anyway each concert) and they really just got tired of it. Technology had not caught up in terms of large arena or stadium sound reproduction capability.
